I had an awesome experience at this location! I will definitely be coming back. The place was really clean. I had the buffet. Everything felt like it was made that day. The pineapple cake was delicious. They also have a punch card and after the 10th visit you receive a free buffet meal.

This place is amazing, great food at a great price. The jerk chicken actually has a little heat and is to die for. My favorite is definitely the pork stew.

Only sometimes people don’t do the service well and show they are pissed when you say if you can get something less spicy for kid. The food was very spicy, and when I complained she said it’s the Caribbean flavor. Whatever food was spicy and fried. It

Don’t let the appearance fool you — this is great food. Everything is fresh and it’s impossible not to go back for seconds. Lunch crowd can be hit or miss regarding volume but if you get here by 11:45, you’ll easily find a seat.

Celebrities and Saffron! Lunch buffet was exactly $ 10 after tax(with water). I didn’t expect so many entrees and every thing I had was excellent! The stand-outs were the Coconut Fish(a broiled white fish in a very light red sauce), Curry Potatoes and the Saffron Chicken with cucumber, onion and jalapenos. The Pineapple Cake was so moist that I wanted a MUCH bigger piece! The Fried Sweet Plantains were perfectly prepared. It’s a bright, clean place with a very friendly atmosphere. VERY nice owner is from Trinidad. Lots of celebrity photos on the wall that you will recognize and it looks like some of them go there a LOT. The lunch buffet(I don’t know if it changes daily or not) had: Curry chicken, Spicy Jerk chicken, Stew Pork, Chicken on the Bone with Tomatoes, Coconut fish, Saffron chicken, kidney beans, mixed veggies(green beans, okra, carrots), white rice, dirty rice, Callaloo(creamed spinach), Curry potatoes, Spicy yucca, Macaroni pie, Mixed pasta, Slaw/salad, Buss shut up, Fried sweet plantains and Pineapple cake. The only slight disappointment was the Macaroni pie(not creamy) but I was busy enough with all the other choices and left very full! I already started my frequent diner punch card and will be back!

The food was great, pineapple cake is nice warm, good spices on the food. Would have been much better if the a/c would’ve been working better. Spicy food and high temperatures don’t mix well.

Tassa was an unexpected and delicious surprise. The buffet offered a combination of chicken, pork, fish and vegetable dishes… But I was blown away by all the chicken dishes. Specifically, the boneless chicken curry was out of this world. They had several homemade sauces — don’t miss the habanero and the tamarind. They are great combined as a topping for any of the entrées. And for a little sweet closer, don’t skip the fried plantains. Delish! The price is a bargain as well. Great find!

4 Plantains! For months Ive been saying, «gotta go, gotta go, gotta go to Tassas». But Its been one excuse after another. «It’s too far to drive, gas is too high, or my stomach can’t take that spice» Today, on a whim, I went. I took it as a sign from God. And it seemed like every light was green, the traffic parted like the waters, and there I was. The service was friendly, the décor was festive, the food was… how do i say this…“native”. I mean its«stewy» ya know, like«soupy». But ya mon, oh so good mon. The jerk chicken, the pork stew, the callilou, 12 entrees, all good. Don’t be like me, don’t wait for a sign from God, just go and enjoy. Its in the middle of the strip mall with the Broken Egg on one end and the Chevron on the other. You will miss it, trust me. I know these things.

This place was yummy!!! I went for Valentines Day and they featured a buffet which was terrific. I still remember how good the oxtails were, even though I ordered them separately as they’d be to expensive to put on a buffet bar — I totally understand that. The buffet was to die for and Tassa is a sweetheart. I will definitely be back!!!

When I need my Trini Fix, Tassa is the place to go! I love that they offer a variety of items on the Buffet. This is a Trinidadian establishment(Trinidad is in the Caribbean. …hence it’s a Caribbean restaurant). You cannot go to Tassa and expect it to taste like food you ate at a Jamaican or Cuban restaurant. Each island has their own flair!

A friend of mine took me here. I love it! I felt like I was invited to have dinner at the home of a traditional Trinidadian family. I enjoyed the inexpensive but delicious buffet options. My favorite was the roti, steamed cabbage and stew chicken. They have an outside patio. It was a beautiful day so we ate outside. The neighborhood is residential. Definitely a hidden gem

I recently tried Tassa for the first time and was blown away by flavor of the food. The jerk chicken is very spicy but very flavorful. The fried plantains are the best I’ve had anywhere – nice and crisp on the outside, sweet and soft on the inside but still with some chew to it. Perfect level of ripeness and frying technique. They put out plantains in small batches so they are always nice and hot. Meat in curry dishes and stew is very tender. The different sauces they have also compliment the meat and side dishes very well. I find that the brown stew pork goes extremely well with all the sauces. Some side dishes I particularly like and some I can skip. You just have to try and see for yourself which ones you like. They are also very good at checking and replenishing food. To me, this is kind of like Indian food with a Latin twist. Several dishes are similar to Indian food, but the spice aroma is not as strong and flavor more rounded.(I still love the strong flavors and aroma of Indian food but this is a nice change for sure.) I’ve only had their buffet. They have other dishes you can order too but I have not tried yet. The buffet may not have as much variety as some big Indian buffet places especially as far as meat dishes go. But I enjoy the plantains, jerk chicken, brown stew pork, and other side dishes so much that I’m not missing say grilled meat and other stuff. For dessert, they have pineapple cake, which is very fluffy and has nice flavor and not too sweet but that’s pretty much it. Because of all the intense flavors of the food, you may find yourself wanting a smoothie or yogurt afterwards but that’s okay. You can buy that somewhere else, no biggie. :) All in all, I highly recommend this place. Too bad for them their sign is not very easily seen as it kind of blends in with the background and the location is a little hidden. I have to remember that it’s close to Simon’s Chinese restaurant and towards Jersey Mike’s.(The service station and beverage place don’t really catch my eyes either.) I think if the restaurant would use more vibrant colors with some kind of painting or logo, like Caribbean Fiesta does, that would make the place pop more to people driving by, they would get more customers. And they deserve that. Another thing is that you kind of have to check their hours carefully as they are a bit odd. I once went there on a Sunday as on Unilocal it said open but they were closed. And if I remember correctly on weekdays they are open only until 4 pm. Just check in front of the restaurant or ask them directly.

Hello Foodies I would first like to state Tassa is a Trinidadian restaurant not Jamaican. I have worked in the Port of Spain Trinidad for many years and this place gives me my T&T food fix when I’m in the US. The Macaroni Pie(not Mac & Cheese) is great and the curry duck gets a thumbs up! Chana and potato’s, callaloo, coo coo, and buss up shut are staples of Trinidadian cuisine. I hope the next time I go they will have tomato choka, saheena, and cow heel soup on the menu. If you would like to get a taste of Trinidad and can’t make the trip eat at Tassa! Additionally, please keep in mind not all Caribbean restaurants are Jamaican and each island has its own specialty cuisine and unique flavors. From an Honorary Trini

I will say the food here is not too bad. There is quite a variety in the buffet… curry chicken(bone in and bone out), jerk chicken, stew chicken, rice, and many many more. One major issue I had was you could tell that the food was not that fresh. It tasted as if it had been sitting for a few hours. The roti was hard and dry. It DEFINITELY was out for some number of hours. Overall, the taste was okay. Everything seemed like it was missing a little kick or a particular spice to make it flavorful. I would give it a shot again or maybe go visit the Marietta location to try that instead.

We went for Saturday lunch and we were the first ones there. I was surprised because it was my first time to this Alpharetta location although I’ve been to the Marietta location several times, and this place was dead. But nothing wrong with that especially for a buffet when you’re the first ones there. But it was a HUGELETDOWN… While this location has a bigger selection, the food is subpar in taste. The food we ate didn’t taste as if it were coming out of the kitchen fresh. The roti was crumbly. It didn’t have any bite or chew or elasticity to it. It just crumbled in your hands as if it was not made fresh. The meat dishes didn’t have enough punch in their flavor or nuances in taste even though the owner said her dishes are spicier than the food at the other location. I disagree… It was nice to see a brown sauce pork and items that were deboned, but overall it was a miss. I can’t speak for other people… but when we went the ambience was straight up weird. Eventually people came later but it didn’t have the lively, this-is-so-good conversations you might expect at a Caribbean place. Instead people were whispering to each other and kind of looking around at each others’ tables. Had to try out this location but won’t be back.

I will give this updated review another star, as I keep coming back for the buffet when I visit. Everything I get on my plate is good! I have come to especially like callaloo and the red beans that are prepared here. The Sweet Corn Coo Coo is always good. One a recent visit, I ordered oxtails. They were okay, but I did not care for them as I do other meats on the buffet such as the curry chicken(bone-in) and stew chicken which are my favorites. The reason is I am used to how Caribbean Fiesta prepares their oxtails and tasting them prepared a different way was a turn off. I usually eat all the sides I prepare with my plate from the buffet, but after eating the oxtails I lost my enthusiasm to eat all of everything that accompanied the oxtails on the plate. But also when I prepare my plate I can get portions proportionate to the meat I have. I told my server it was okay, but next time I would eat from the buffet.

Great Caribbean buffet and much better overall than the Marietta location! The food was really yummy and high quality for the $ 10 price tag. We received a friendly welcome and enjoyed jerk chicken, brown stew chicken, and curry chicken. There was also a brown stewed pork. They had flaky roti, cabbage, spinach, buttered yuca(mmmmmm), beans,) rice, mac’n’cheese, pineapple cake, etc. For a buffet, the offerings were both generous and high quality. I will certainly be back for more.
