Physician Immediate Med

When it comes to doctors, and things related to my body, I am very stubborn about it. I have the same PCP (
), even though he is in Georgia, and I live in Colorado. Why is that? because I trust the guy with my life. He took care of my father, and he takes care of my mother. Damn right I would fly home to visit him. That’s exactly what I did this week. And you know what, for the first time ever, I couldn’t see him– he had to perform some life/​death procedures on patients today, I can respect that.
So, I went for plan B. Coming here. When I walked up, I was shocked when I saw the lobby looked so different. I signed in, and the lady asked if I had been there before. I told her it had been a long time. She took my name– and it had been a long time– 2007 to be exact. So that was good to know that even 8 years later, they had my info– of course it all had to be updated, but I knew I wasn’t crazy when I said I had been there before.
As I sat down with my mom (she is my chauffeur this week– good for catch up time), we were looking at all of the wonderful Unilocal reviews from previous visits. I sat at the window seat, looking for the so called spiders– I didn’t see any. I did see a lady though walk out in furor and demand a refund. I knew at this point, I may be f’ed. I just wanted to get checked out, since the clinic in Colorado said I had pneumonia.
We sat in the waiting room for 2 hours before getting called back– the worst part about the visit. Misleading they call it Physician Immediate Med. I mean, maybe compared to a third world country, I can see. Thankfully I had nothing really planned (I just need to get better, yo) — so I guess all I can say is that I lost 2 hours of my life.
I got called back, they took my vitals, then I waited an hour to see the actual doctor. Dr. Thomas, he was very apologetic about the wait (you have to understand that places like this can be hit or miss, especially when they accept walk-​ins, I mean one day you may wait 10 minutes, maybe one day a hell of a lot longer, can make it difficult, but I guess that is why its a back up option) — I told him it is what it is.
He checked my heart and lungs, and found I had an infection in both ears, but could not explain the chills. He ended up setting me up with a flu test, a strep test, sinus/​chest x-​rays, a urinalysis, and blood work.
When I got my blood drawn, I was more than impressed. I could barely feel it. I am not afraid of needles or anything, but I know the last time I got blood drawn, there was more of a «pinch» to it. Speaking of that, I am starting to have questionable marks on my left arm now, FANTASTIC.
The whole process today lasted 5 hours. I felt bad for my mom (but the receptionist did make some coffee for her), and was kind of frustrated, but I can tell you this– they were very thorough. One thing I dislike about clinics is they can have the tendency to cut corners, resulting in a mis-​diagnosis– which could lead to something a hell of a lot worse.
I received a 5 page very thorough diagnosis sheet (my mom is a retired RN, always asking me 20Q, I just throw the damn sheets at her, tell her to figure it out), along with a scrip sheet. I was highly impressed with all of the details.
So yea, you may be waiting a while, but I tell you what, if you aren’t an ass, and you need a backup (not wanting to go to a hospital), this is worth checking out. I am actually kind of glad I went.

Yesterday i had to go to physicians immediate med late on a Sunday. .i had been there before with step throat and they were very professional and treated me with correct testing and meds. Again on a Sunday i needed their services. They could not have been nicer or more professional. From the front desk. .to the male assistant. …to Dr. Jones. I am so glad this place is so close to my house and that they are open till 9:00 on Sunday. I am a recently retired R.N. and worked in Dr. s offices for many years. Don’t believe all the bad reviews. Sometimes you just have to wait for an appt. I know that is hard when you are sick, but remember they are working on other patients just like you.

Holy disorganization batman! This place is so terribly run it’s scary, I would give it 0 stars if that was an option but I’m forced to give 1. During my lengthy visit, I witnessed 2 – 3 women working behind the front desk that spent a considerable amount of time asking each other «Hey have you seen Patient X’s paperwork?» «Do you have Patient Y’s form?» «Where did the file for Mr. Patient Z go?» In addition to learning the names of the patients whom they can’t find documents for, I also was privy to the name and details of a young lady checking out after being seen — they diagnosed her with mono, performed a CBC and ANA panel on her (lab results should be back within a day or so), she’s not to return to school until 2÷4÷15, and their total due was $ 208, but the mother asked that they please not pay the full balance until the lab results are returned. That’s a lot of PHI to overhear from across the waiting room!
The attitude of the 4 employees we had interactions with make it clear everyone there hates their job and could care less about you or your health. Just like the conditions of the office — cleanliness is not a priority here! Watch out for the spiders that make their way across the backs of the chairs along the windows, too.
After 2 hours and 10 minutes, only 3 patients had been seen. It was at this point that I was verbally accosted for my paperwork and provided additional forms to fill out, further delaying my care, as I was in pain waiting to be seen for hours at this point. I decided enough was enough, and left to go to North Atlanta Urgent Care on Holcomb Bridge Road. I walked in to a clean, professional atmosphere, was treated with respect, filled out a single form and better yet — had an exam, x-​rays, and was treated and on my way in LESS THAN 30 MINUTES!
Save yourself several hours and drive an extra few miles to go somewhere for REAL healthcare, not this lazy sham of a business.

I give one star because I cant go any lower. This place is terrible. Ive been waiting in the wait room with ten others for 2 hours! Immediate? I think not. I will never return here. Plus there staff could care less about the sick people waiting. Rude nurse. Rude doctor. Never again!

Why do I do this to myself? I am here about once a year. I always think the last time was an isolated incident… surely they can’t be that slow? I have been waiting an hour to see a doctor. It’s not busy, they don’t seem overwhelmed. Bottom line, these urgent care centers are a fine a dozen. Don’t waste your time here!

The rudest lady at the front desk. Awful wait times. Left screaming infuriated with how I was treated. I have insurance and was willing to pay cash. I’ll never go back!

Terrible customer service. Poorly staffed.

This place is a joke. I went in for a blood test which also required a doctor consultation. The employees are about as helpful and professional as Wal-​Mart employees, but that’s the least of my concerns.
I was quoted at $ 100 for the doc visit, and $ 15 extra for the test. My insurance sent me an email (2 months later) saying they would not cover and Physicians Immediate would be billing me for $ 185! I called before I got a bill to see why it was so much when I was quoted a much lower rate, and they told me I was mis quoted but they would give me a $ 50 credit for the inconvenience. Even though this still was more than I was quoted, I didn’t want to argue anymore.
I called them when I received the bill, and they did not credit me the $ 50. I called and left a message, and no one called me back, and I had to keep calling for 2 days after. FINALLY, when I got to talk to someone, I explained to them my situation, and that I was confused because I’ve paid out of pocket for specialists doctor visits before, and paid less and didn’t get why this «doc in the box» was so much more expensive than more professional places.
The man than said that I would need to mail to them an explanation of benefits (which is totally absurd because they were the ones dealing with insurance and the appt. was 3 months ago)! After fighting with them, they agreed to credit me $ 50, BUT ONLY IF I GAVE THEM A CREDIT CARD RIGHT THEN OVER THE PHONE.
Point being, the place is out for your money, and isn’t professional. Get better care and more help for less money.

We went to this place on Jan 1^st. Almost all others were closed. Which may explain the 2 stars.
We waited 1 hr after signing in. Then i went to the window to ask how long it will be before we get in to see a doctor. The girl (same one that asked us to wait — and the only one behind the counter) said why haven’t you checked in? I told her that she asked us to wait to be called. She said, oh well. It is going to be 2 more hours anyway!
So, all in all, very bad customer service. Not sure how the clinicians are since we never got to see one!
