Lafferty Animal Clinic

Ok, so I’m updating this review after I got an email from 1800 Pet Meds stating that my vet was refusing to provide authorization on the prescription heartworm meds I had ordered. I called my vet and they confirmed that Dr. Lafferty has a policy that they don’t authorize prescriptions from online companies. So this means that they have to mail the prescription to me and then I have to then mail it out to Pet Meds further delaying my dog getting medicine he needs to stay healthy.
I understand being cautious about who you do business with, but 1800 Pet Meds is a legitimate company that has established itself as a leader in providing pet medicines. All of the previous vets I’ve gone to have authorized prescriptions without having to get me involved. This not only delays my dog’s prescription, but also creates extra work on my part. I was not informed of this policy at my dog’s annual check-​up so was completely unaware this was their protocol. Kind of makes me consider changing my vet as I often purchase his meds online and I find this way of doing business completely unnecessary and intrusive. Sad because I think they are a good vet aside from this primitive policy.

Wow, that other review is…completely inaccurate to my experience. Our cats are 8.5 years old, and they’ve been seeing Dr. Lafferty almost their whole lives. We started out with another vet, but through a series of events, we ended up with one of them at Lafferty’s on Christmas Eve the first time we ever went there. The staff were courteous and very, very nice to us and have always been amazing with our cats.
Very simply, Dr. Lafferty is one of the best, if not the best, small animal vet I’ve ever seen or dealt with in my life. He always knows our cats when we come in — either he has that good a memory or he’s reviewing files previous to appointments, I don’t know, but either way, it’s just one way that he shows he cares. He treats us with respect — owners and pets — and he’s got a superior manner with animals that just puts you right at ease.
I tell all my friends to bring their pets to Dr. Lafferty. I would drive across town twice to go to this practice.

Back when I saw Dr. Lafferty the first and only time from where I left the first review, I’d also asked him to check Jasper’s ears, wondering if he might have ear mites simply because Jasper was always itching at his ears. After further look, Dr. Lafferty said «No, he is just scrathing temporary spots of itch.»
When I took Jasper to my past vet, I’d made the mistake in believing Lafferty and basically forgot about that part as I was only worried about the so called «liver disease» Lafferty diagnosed.
Well I just took the cats in for the annual shots and I mentioned the same thing to a new veterinarian (which this time I heard reviews from friends so I felt I could trust this one), and they said «yes, ear mites», showed me in the microscope after cleaning out an ear. But of course, BOTH of my cats by now have them and I pay for the ear cleaning and prescription of two rather than just one, thanks again to Lafferty.
