The experience was great and the food was very yummy. The decoration is nice and well placed. There is plenty of room next to you in the dining area, so you don’t feel like other people are crowding. I ordered the steak and chicken hibachi. Everything was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. I wanted to order another, but I would have not had the room for it. The service is excellent, everything was handled as if we had our own server waiting just on us and no one else. I would recommend anyone who enjoys food and proper service to try it.

Great service. We went for Mother’s Day this year. It was great because they stayed open all day for the holiday. My husband I got there before the rest of our family and they were happy to seat us and allow us to wait for the rest of the party. The servers were patient and attentive to us and kept our water glasses filled. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because we sat in the dining section instead of at the hibachi table and we felt our portions were small for what we normally receive at a Japanese Steakhouse.

Large group of us at my work went there for dinner on Tuesday night and had to wait over 40 mins for table although the place was half empty. We were told they were cleaning tables and about 15 mins we ask and they have seated smaller tables in the area the host told us was ours. Communication not so well with each other. After complaining 40 mins we were finally seated. No chef for another 20 mins. Soup was awful no taste water with mushroom like they ran out and added water. Luckily the hibachi part was good so that salvaged the dinner a bit but for the price point and the bad mixed drinks I will not be going back. They seem to not be able to handle large crowds. I believe owner: manager came to apologies at the end since we were the only ones left now at 10pm! you would think he would take something off the bill.Nope. Disappointed it shouldn’t take over 3 hours for a dinner in a restaurant that is half empty

Poor service. I am not sure who this gratuity is going to, server never came back to ask for the drinks or anything. I asked my cocktail to be less sweet but it seems she made sure for it to be extra sweet. Disappointing service. Whenever the server can add gratuity usually it’s no service. Management needs to work this. On Friday night they were empty with no wait. In this area usually the restaurants have at least an hour wait on weekends. We will not come back. Be careful there are other Japanese restaurants with better service. After paying almost 200 dollars and bad service, it’s not good.

My husband and I have been regulars to Ichiban on Windward for years when our wallets would allow. We love the food(most of the time, depends on the chef). While we don’t love the prices, the amount of food has always been worth it to us. We would almost always leave with leftovers for lunch. Unfortunately, many of their male chefs(especially«Chef Jim») serve female customers significantly less food than they serve male customers. It is very bothersome to see a male be served twice as much food as women are served when we are paying the same overpriced price. Though we have been steady customers for years and are on a first name basis with some of the staff, we won’t be coming back to Ichiban because of how the chefs are allowed to interject their old fashioned beliefs while serving food to customers.

Ignore the bad reviews. Everytime we come here, the service & food are the absolute best! You won’t find better hibachi! And the fresh fish they use to make the sushi. OMG! Waaaay better than the other upscale japanese/sushi places in Atl. The only reason I don’t list all 5 stars, is the high price. But we will be back for sure

I wish I could give a 0 star rating. Take out sushi was $ 32 for 4 rolls. Spicy tuna was worst we’ve ever had! Shrimp tempura and crunch roll not any better. Called to tell them(I didn’t want anything in return, and asked me why I waited to call; I enlightened them that some of us are too busy to let them know how bad they are.) This place has really gone down hill. Don’t waste your time!

This Japanese Steakhouse serves spaghetti with the entrée. Spaghetti that they use to clean the grill. On your plate. Gross. I’ve been here 4 times. Each was a birthday event. Tonight was the second time they gave me spaghetti, but the first time I tasted it, and the last time I come here. Gross. My filet was excellent.

Sushi is expensive… Just the way it is. I don’t mind paying the price when it’s good. Ichiban is some of the most expensive sushi around. I travel a lot and have been to sushi restaurants all over this country and Canada so hopefully you’ll see I have some credibility. Anyway, here it is pricey and this is the second time I’ve had mediocre sushi here. This will be my last time coming here. Too bad it’s close to my house.

Yea I would have to second the gentleman beneath this comment. Indeed quite so she contains attractive attributes. They should hire more like her, oh and the food was great, especially the fried rice.

Pretty decent lunch, especially when the other sushi places in this block of restaurants are busy, though I wish it were a little cheaper. I got the lunch special of spicy tuna roll and 5 piece nigiri with salad(or soup) for $ 11. The salad was ok, though the ginger dressing was too watery. The fish in the nigiri looked a little old, but tasted ok. The service was attentive and thoughtful, asking all the right questions. They also have hibachi, and you can also order hibachi at the table.

Upon walking in, the hostess with copious side-boob led us to our table, a roach was found on it. After the chaos died down, our soups and salads were in a random order at random times. 20 minutes after ordering our drinks, they were brought to us. From there on, the service was fine. The food was good– not the best but not the worst. I would not eat here again.

My favorite place for hibachi! My favorites are the crab and asparagus egg roll appetizer and the scallop hibachi. Plenty of yum yum sauce. Service is great and the chef is very entertaining. Must try it.

My wife and 2 year old son went for dinner last night and had a disappointing experience. As stated in numerous reviews, the prices on their menu don’t align with what is listed on their website. The food was seasoned well and delicious. Our biggest issue was the quantity. They were, by far, the smallest portion sizes we’ve ever gotten at a hibachi restaurant. On top of that, the prices are astronomical. Our check was $ 80 before tip(only 2 glasses of wine @ $ 5.50 each were in there as far as alcohol goes). We’ve been to many other hibachi places and spent $ 50 for far more booze and gigantic portions that can easily make another meal. We definitely will keep searching for a «go-to» hibachi restaurant. As for this one, we won’t be going back.

Came here today for a business lunch per the recommendation of colleagues. Upon first walking into the restaurant, I was pleased with the overall décor and atmosphere of Ichiban… didn’t feel quite suburban, but more industrial. As is the case with typical Hibachi restaurants, you have a choice of sitting at the Hibachi tables, regular dining room or the sushi bar. Since I had a taste for sushi, I was looking forward to my meal and figured it would be on par with my usual Hibachi experience. To start, we ordered sushi for the table: Spider Roll, Crunchy Shrimp Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll. All rolls were solid, nothing exceptional, but definitely served their purpose in our tummies :-). Where this restaurant disappointed was with the actual Hibachi. I ordered Steak & Shrimp, which comes with Fried or White Rice, Salad or Soup and Veggies. The cook assumed I wanted my steak cooked well done for some reason??? Anyway, I corrected him and it was fine. Beyond that, we had the quietest and most uninspired Hibachi cook in the history of Hibachi restaurants(I’m guessing LOL). In terms of the meal, the Fried Rice wasn’t good and seriously lacked flavor… could have been my least favorite ever, which pains me to say because I love fried rice. Even the«yummy sauce» was weird and didn’t help the rice, so I left most of it on my plate(probably a good thing for my figure, though). The steak and shrimp were similarly bland, but cooked well and the veggies were undercooked. Interestingly, the portion sizes were the smallest I’ve seen at a Hibachi restaurant. So, I’m not sure what went wrong, but I suppose the fact that the restaurant never filled up should have been a sign, but hey… there are a ton of restaurants in the area so maybe people exercised their other choices. Also, I will note that service was slower than it should have been given the emptiness of the restaurant. Half of our party had to return to work before the waitress ever showed back up. Overall, not a good experience and I wouldn’t see myself returning. On to the next meal… Happy Eating!

I went here for lunch with a very large group of people, we all got hibachi. The hibachi was delicious, I got the steak, everything including the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The only complaint I had was I felt like everything was a bit too salty. Our waitress was great! She keep everyone’s drinks full! I would definitely go back. Out of all the hibachi places I’ve ate at this is definitely one of my top favorites.

We decided to try Ichiban’s on New Year’s Eve. I have not had hibachi in close to 20 years and we were not disappointed. The chef was friendly and entertaining. Even though they provide sauces, our filet and shrimp was so flavorful right off the grill we didn’t need them. Honestly everything was very good from the soup to the salad to the noodles and fried rice. We will definitely visit again.

Tried this place out because of the good reviews. I’d give it one star but the servers and hostess were extremely polite and attentive. I ordered a two roll combo that came with soup or salad. The salad dressing was bitter tasting, despite all the good reviews on here. I had a california roll and a bagel roll. There were bones in my bagel roll. Fish bones. It’s supposed to be smoked salmon so I’m not even sure how that’s possible. In addition, it was literally small diced pieces of salmon that fell apart and out of the roll when you picked it up. The crab in the california roll was non-existent. I don’t know if their regular chef was out sick or they had they were training someone but it was bad. Won’t be back; there’s too many great places in the area.

My family LOVES hibachi. We used to always hit up Benihana until we found Ichiban. But Ichiban is our spot now. Every chef we’ve had has been super engaging. My son loves that it isn’t just the same olé same with the fire volcano and the shrimp toss(even though they are usually a part of the show– it’s among tons of other entertaining little tricks). I always get filet… It’s like butter. They also do a lo mein type appetizer along with the rice I haven’t had elsewhere that’s simple but yummy mixed in the the grilled veggies. We love the Japanese sodas and also not a bad selection of specialty drinks and wine. I always plan on saving something for lunch the next day… But never do. Only consistent negative is the hostess situation– they give me a blank stare when I ask any question. For example not seating 6 out of the 8 guests of a party(when there are two 4 year olds it’s weird to prefer us to wait in the bar area when the last two are minutes away and the place is not even half full) but I digress rules are rules and this is Alpharetta so it’s usually a high school girl so whatevs.

I can hardly remember my meal here because it happened so fast. We were so rushed through this hibachi experience that my friend who ordered from the sushi bar had not received his food by the time the rest of our party was almost finished with the full hibachi meal. We saw the flaming volcano turned choo choo train and were over ½ way through eating and still no sushi. Now I think this was due to a combination of factors. Our server and secondary servers were taking our plates away before we were finished. Unfortunately, I did not catch on to this until my soup and salad disappeared with food still remaining in the bowls. Hibachi is not my favorite dining experience, BUT I do love that iceberg lettuce topped with ginger dressing. And it was swiped up, and I still had at least three bites left. I leaned over to pick up my 13 month old son’s sippy cup, and went for another bite of ginger salad and it was gone. Oh no you didn’t. After starting to observe the rest of our party, I realized food was being prematurely carted away from everyone. It’s not like they were on a wait and needed the table. There were plenty of tables! With my new awareness, when the server swooped in to pick up my almost ¾ eaten entrée plate, I stabbed her hand with my fork… nah, I just told her I wasn’t finished. She was clearly annoyed. Meanwhile at the other side of our table, my friend never received his sushi and canceled the order. I don’t find myself in this neck of the woods very often, but I would never done here again.
