Not everyday you get a haircut you TOTALLY love :) Literallly not even one complaint. Two lovely men on staff, one washed my hair so gently I swear I fell asleep. More like a massage. The other was so friendly and professional and cut my hair with ease and precision. Was a big decision to cut my hair short and it couldn’t have gone better :) Plus it was a groupon so VERY reasonable!

I give 5 stars to amazing Joan that I have been going to for years. She is the best wax specialist I’ve ever been to in my life. My best friend got addicted too and we now go together and can’t imagine going anywhere else.
Haven’t tried the other services at the salon yet, but it is a very clean place with friendly staff. Definitely recommend!

I’ve been waxing my bikini area for years and I was glad to find an affordable place with someone that had good reviews. The person I spoke to that finally booked my appointment was nice and efficient. I got a call to confirm the day before. Then, a couple hours before my appointment I get a call from Joan saying that she rather see me earlier in the day because she would be too tired later in the day. I work and have a full weekend so the time they had scheduled me was really the only time I had available (especially since she is only there a couple days per week). When I tried to find another time that might work she was really rude. I have never had anybody that I was going to pay for a service (or anybody at all) treat me the way she did. I have never written a review and usually understand/​let it go when people are rude but this was ridiculous so it prompted me towards my first revew. Luckily, I was able to get a refund from living social. I don’t care how good Joan might be at waxing, she treated me very badly and I would not recommend to anybody unless they like being mistreated after a long week of work.

Decided to give this place a try because I saw a Groupon and my hair is pretty low maintenance so figured it wouldn’t hurt to save some money on a cut. Nope. The person who cut my hair — I don’t know his name because he never introduced himself but I assume he’s the owner by the way he talked to others — was awful. First, no «hello» or «how’s it going?» Just «sit here.» (The other stylist was very nice. He greeted me and offered me coffee and when I was leaving and probably visibly upset, he asked if I needed anything else. But unfortunately, he was working with another customer.)
When I was in the shampoo chair, my stylist yelled at the delivering postman, telling him his Groupon package hadn’t arrived yet. Poor postman had to stand there and listen to how this guy thought his «Asian supervisor had a tone and was very rude» and his «African American coworker was incompetent.» Bit unprofessional.
I will say that the shampoo was pretty good. He gave a quick massage which was relaxing. BUT everything else was awful. I showed him pictures of what I wanted and he spent .5 seconds looking at them before telling me my hair was too short to do anything with. Throughout the cut, he said nothing to me except that my hair was short so I couldn’t do anything fun with it (I manage to do something pretty cute with my hair every morning, thanks very much).
Then the cut. Oh my god. I’ll post photos. He cut a severe line into the back of my head. I’ve never had such a bad cut — and I’ve cut my own hair before! And the blowout. Yikes. I had a Brady Bunch mom style when I left. I’m in my 20s; I don’t want a pseudo mullet with an intense flip.
When I pointed out the poor layering, he kept chopping off more hair so I finally just got up and left before he could do more damage.
Run away! A hair salon should be relaxing, not stressful.

i had no product in my hair!!!
i told ozzie that i did a vinegar rinse which iv done for years!!! and it never affected a blow out!!!
as for what he did to my hair was wrong and exactly noooot
what i asked for!!!

cant you see from the before n after picture what a nightmare this was???
he couldnt even do what i didnt want right!!! iv seen cuts with thinned out ends looking great! not uneven and butchered???

I’m really surprised to read some of the other reviews. I grabbed a Groupon and went in for a trim with Ozzie. I’ve been all over the Boston area to different stylists looking for someone I liked as much as they were charging ever since moving here 6 years ago (mostly I’ve waited until I travel back to my old town to get a hair cut at my trusted salon). I’ve almost always been disappointed either by attitude of the place or the cut itself (have felt generally I always get a generic cut and style no matter what I ask for our how much I pay.))
Anyways, I have difficult hair. It’s very fine naturally but after having my second child it’s quite thin in the front. And to make matters worse I have high standards and this fantasy of having the old long thick locks of my youth. Ah well. I know I’m a nightmare to any stylist. I came in with a host of complaints about the last cut I got, home butchered bangs, a mountain of expectations: want to keep the length but didn’t like the last layers that were put in, need to be able to thicken up the front, etc.
Ozzie listened very carefully and discussed with me some of the difficulties of my hair type but assured me he would do his best to meet my expectations. He also told me they give free bangs trims so not to butcher then myself between cuts again. He took quite a bit of time at the beginning to listen, explain and offer suggestions. I really appreciated that and settled in for my cut. I already liked him but I still assumed he would then give me the same generic cut everyone else does, lop of too much length, give me the same silly layers I hate. But at least he was nice.
We began the wash and he continued to be attentive asking how I liked the water temp and adjusting it and making friendly conversation, sprinkling it with hair care tips. He took his time with everything which may drive some people crazy but I appreciated. My whole apt was about an hour start to finish and a lot of that time was given to discussing my particular hair and
What I can do to make the most out of a bad deal (lol, my words). He explained a lot of why he was doing what he was doing. He even showed me how to properly cut my own bangs but urged me to just come in and let them do it.
I ended up loving the cut! He listened to everything i said i wanted and it was obvious he did his best with his professional knowledge to give that to me. And i liked it better! He also did some things on his own that were very helpful like pulling a little more of my top into the front to add thickness. I always hate that people don’t do this, seems obvious to me. I also usually hate the straightening that everyone always does (because my hair’s so thin I think it looks best with some waves in it). But this cut was exceptional and I was very happy with the end result even straight and much more so after rewashing and styling myself. I loved the way it framed my face, loved the layers loved that he took barely anything of the length even though it had been a while since my last cut. (He said my ends were in pretty good shape and so mostly trimmed the layers up).
Andy was also nice and chimed into our discussion to give some tips about my poor thin hair. I’m only giving the place 4 starts because they could use a little tuning up of the place itself. It was generally tidy but a little rough around the edges. This is not a deterrent for me though. I’ll definitely be back and recommend them to those who want a great cut at reasonable prices in the city. I like to have someone with a generous spirit cut my hair. Makes me relax and enjoy putting myself in their hands!

Spring was finally here, I desperately wanted to do something different with my hair, and this salon was local, so I purchased a «cut & dye» Groupon, and came here a couple of weeks ago to redeem it.
Ozzie was my stylist, and the entire experience was stellar. To be fair, I am incredibly flexible when it comes to hair: firstly, why tell stylists how to do their job (which I certainly know very little about), and secondly, hair grows back (amazingly enough); I feel it’s important to keep an open mind. So, I stopped by on a Friday afternoon to make an appointment, and wound up talking to Ozzie and discussing what I was thinking, in terms of colour (platinum partial highlights on my dark brown hair!) and cut (super-​short pixie), and then came back Saturday morning for the execution of my plans.
Thankfully, Ozzie had some alternative suggestions for both my hair colour and the style, because everything turned out amazing! Instead of platinum highlights, Ozzie suggested a strawberry-​blond single process shade, which gave my normally zombie-​pale face some much-​needed hint of colour; it is gorgeous, and I fully intend to baldly lie and pretend it’s my natural shade.
For the cut, Ozzie admitted I was his first pixie (so to whomever follows: he’s now an old hand at short haircuts!), but he researched it prior to my appointment and it, too, came out really well. A bit longer than what I usually go for, but considering my fabulous new hair colour, it would’ve been a pity to dye and then chop everything off.
I wanted to wait a few weeks before writing the review, because at the salon, freshly-​dyed and styled, everything looks amazing, and then 3 days later, you try to do it at home, and it never looks the same. And with short hair, the true test is how well it can be styled at home, and how well it grows out. Well, I still can’t style it the way Ozzie had at the salon, but hair looks great despite my clumsy at-​home attempts, AND it’s growing out and retaining its shape wonderfully.
The only drawback to the whole experience is that I discovered the joys of a flat iron (which I always considered too fussy, until Ozzie used it for 5 minutes and did amazing things to my hair), realised my life was incomplete without one, and am now losing 10 minutes of precious sleep in the mornings to do my hair just so.
All in all, I’m loving the new colour and the haircut, and the truly ridiculous number of compliments I’m getting on both (yay!).

I am one to change my hairstyles quite a bit. This has created a few terrible experiences with other stylists. Until I met Andy! I will never trust my hair to anyone else again. He is smart, informative, and very sweet. He took the time to talk to me and really listen to what I wanted to have done. He was also kind enough to let me know what might look better or other options. The color is outstanding and the cut equally as good. I have a little kink in my hair and I cant even tell you how many times Ive walked out of a salon with a terrible blow out. I usually go right home and wash and blow dry again myself. I truly felt like a million bucks. The receptionist, Iris, is bright and friendly. I had a wonderful experience and have found my forever stylist!

I really needed a haircut because my old highlights was extremely damaged and had a lot of split-​ends. I found their awesome deals on groupon, so I decided to give it a try. It was hair cut/​style/​condition/​partial highlights for $ 69.
Ozzie (Osvaldo) was my hair stylist and he did an amazing job. I didn’t really know which color for my highlights, and he was helpful in suggesting which color fit with my complexion so I really appreciated that. He suggested an extra $ 15 toner. Even though it got pricier than I thought, it was worth the price because the toner really locked the color and gave my hair that extra gloss finish. The cut was pretty much spot-​on in terms of length and the flow of layers.
Overall, I am very very very happy with my hair. Thank you so much Ozzie!

Horrible place. Ozzie cut my hair. He cut way too much hair and my hair is ruined! He cut my bangs all the way from my crown. He used the shears and cut my bangs too deep and then the owner tried to fix it and it’s terrible. I was almost in tears! I told the owner my frustrations and he still charged me. He showed no remorse and even said my hair was already messed up.

I purchased the Groupon and was pleasantly surprised when I called the same day and they were able to cut by hair that day! Osvaldo was my stylist and he was amazing. I showed him a picture of how my hair is normally cut (long bob, slightly longer in the front) and he made a few suggestions to improve and I decided to trust him and I’m glad I did! The cut did take a bit longer than usual but I would much rather that than have my stylist rush. He was friendly but not overbearingly chatty like some stylists can be. When he showed me the final product I was blown away! It is probably the best haircut I have ever gotten. My hair is thin but it has just the right amount of volume and he gave me tips on styling it at home. I will definitely come back– he is my new go to. Thanks Osvaldo!

Went based on reviews, but was disappointed. It might be a good salon for typical haircuts and colors, but I would NOT recommend for anyone looking for bright/​fashion colors. They do not carry the colors in store and you must bring your own Manic Panic. Andy was nice and asked what I wanted, but I do not think he understood what I was going for and I did not end up pleased with the result. I was also slightly misled about the price. The place was also totally dead when I went — didn’t seem like a good sign.

Ozzie was my hair stylist. Very nervous at first because Unilocal rated him with either a 1-​star or 5-​star experience.
Hoping to be a 5-​star with me of course! :)
He wasn’t quite as consultative as I would’ve liked. I told him to cut 2 – 3 inches off and to get rid of the split ends. He ended up cutting about 4 inches… wish he would’ve told me…
Anyway, I realllly ended up liking it. Not what I expected or envisioned but I really liked it. He scared me, but it was a pleasantly surprised!

I go here to see Joan for waxing. She’s fantastic! She has the wonderful ability to make a painful process fly by with witty conversation. Would definitely recommend her to others and have done so! I have not personally had my hair done here so I cannot say anything about the stylists other than they are very nice to me while I wait to go downstairs.

To be honest I’m kind of disappointed. I had Joan for my brazillian wax and she was amazing in the sense that she’s really sweet and gave me tips on how to minimize the pain. At first, I thought it was great that she did it really quickly but I also realized that when she put down the paper on top of the wax, she did not rub the paper over in order to spread out the wax and take out the roots more.
It has only been a week since my appointment and the hair is growing back. Last time I got a wax, it started to grew back about 2 – 3 weeks later.
I’m not sure if the cheap price they offered is worth getting hair back within a week.

Went in for a Brazilian wax, Joan is so thorough. Although painful she did a great job. I’d go back to see her.

Came here twice. I had hair cut with Ozzie before around mid 2013 and it was fantastic. My hair was exactly what I wanted. Staff were very nice. And the service was exceptional. The second time was in Jan 2014 and this time I had hair cut with Andy. I’m not sure who is better but I was very impressed with the service as much as the first time. The only thing that makes me give 4 stars instead of 5 is that the price was $ 25 in mid 2013, but it was $ 40 six months later.

Found this place because 1) I needed a haircut, 2) I looked for a place online with a groupon, good Unilocal reviews, and in my general vicinity, and 3) discovered that this was my best friend’s hair guy before she moved away. I already knew to expect good things.
Andy was wonderful. Friendly, and though he hadn’t seen my bestie in 2 years, he still remembered all kinds of details about her — a hair dresser who actually listens, cares, and remembers you! Though my best friend and I have extremely different hair (thin blonde straight short v. my thick dark curly long), he did a great job carving out layers, providing insight to possible changes I’d been considering, and coming up with a good median. Also, when he blew my hair out, he did it thoroughly and without a flat iron, which I saw as a big plus — the bottoms were flipped out a bit so it looked more natural, and it still looked great 3 days later without washing.
I may need to come back less frequently than Daphna, but I’ll be back for you Andy! Thanks again for a great cut — it looks great curly, too :)

I had a LivingSocial here for a brazilian and waited til the last day to use it. While I was late to the appt (silly Green line!), Joan was still able to fit me in. She was a little brisk, but good at getting you to talk in order to get your mind off the traumatizing pain. I haven’t had this done in years so it was pretty painful. Cmon people, you’re ripping hundreds of hair follicles out of a sensitive area. Do you expect it to feel like a massage? No. It hurts. But she did her best to keep me distracted.
The one thing I definitely did NOT like was that I felt it wasn’t as thorough as it could have been. I’m there for a brazilian, I want every speck gone. This was not the case. There was a light sprinkling here and there but especially… how to put this… in «hard to reach» areas. I’m certain this was a result of her curious practice of having you leave your «foundational garments» on, as well as the not-​so-​revealing positions.
All in all I will probably return but ask her to be more thorough. My skin hasn’t freaked out yet so that’s a big plus over the last time I had this done. We will see what my follow-​up says.
