Allen Café in Allen, TX is a family owned and operated local eatery, serving breakfast and lunch 7 days a week until 3 pm. We serve breakfast all day everyday. We have been in business for 15 years. We purchased the old Dairy Queen Building and opened the Allen Café. A few years later we closed for 1 year to renovate the old building and turned it into what it looks like today. We offer a wide variety of omelets and we still hand make our hash browns fresh every day. We can customize any order just the way you want it.

History

Established in 1998.

In downtown Allen on Main St. Renovated the old DQ building and have been serving breakfast since 98

If you want a local, no-​frills breakfast with friendly service and a hometown atmosphere, Allen Café is your place. The crowds arrive by 10am on weekends, so if you want to skip the wait, get here early. Parking is also tight on Sundays because of the Baptist church next door.
Linda was our waitress, and I’m going to request her section every time we go from now on. Wonderful service. She was friendly, accommodating and on top of everything.
Kevin and I both had the Texas Breakfast (2 eggs any style, 2 sausage patties, 2 bacon strips and 2 pancakes). I had a craving for chocolate chip pancakes, so Linda winked and promised she would take care of me. Sure enough, my cakes arrived flooded with chocolate chips. Thanks Linda!
The food is just what you’d expect from a diner — homestyle, delicious and consistent.
PS — The pies are also outstanding.

A sleepy little café in Allen. Kinda close quarters, and usually very busy. The staff is pretty nice and try to service you in a timely manner.

This place is as bad as everyone’s photos look. Went there on our way home from Dallas, based on the 4 star review. Food was okay at best. I had the breakfast burritos, which were very simple and lacked imagination. No pico de gallo, no avocado, no fresh salsa. My wife got the biscuits and gravy. We both bit into pieces of bone in our sausage. When we asked the waitress if they ground their own sausage, she said she doubted it. Kids got the pancakes and they were just so-​so. Bacon is mangy. Looks like they bought the cheapest bacon on the planet and it cooked down to gnarled little squiggles. I should have taken a photo.
If you’re hungry for breakfast, The Original Pancake house is a much better bet.

I am so happy I have finally found a nice place to have some breakfast! I can see now why this place is so busy. The energy of this place is all mom and pop operations. The food was really good thanks to the paisas in the back. I ended up going with the burritos just to try them out. They were okay but I think I’d go with something different next time.

I adore this homey little café. My boyfriend grew up in the area, and we used to come here at least every other Sunday for breakfast. It is usually very busy, with a wait. And as I like to say to those impatient, can’t stand in line people — «A line means there is something really good worth waiting for at the end.» But it moves fast. I have never waited over 15 minutes.
Service is always pleasant, patient and timely. The price is unbeatable and the omelets are on point. It is your traditional breakfast, similar to what you could order at OHOP but smaller, more diner like, with a homemade with love touch. There are many mornings when I hear «I miss Allen Café.»
They truly have breakfast down to a science. Nothing fancy. Just good olé, traditional, homestyle breakfast y’all.

We got here on a Saturday morning and were shocked that this place was so crowded. Man, good thing I brought my appetite!
Unfortunately, that never happened. Despite being told it was a 15 – 20 minute wait, we waited 25 minutes and still only moved 1 – 2 spots up the waiting now list. My hunger took over and we decided to go some place else.
Observations:
— food looked like good, ol’fashion diner food
— people come here to enjoy their Saturday morning — definitely not in a rush to leave
— the girls managing the wait list are in high school and were apologetic of the wait but did underestimate the actual wait time when they quoted us
Doubt I’ll go back until I’m there really early in the morning and in Allen.

Very old-​fashioned diner feel. You sure don’t feel like you’re walking into an IHOP. Had the French Toast and Denver omelette.
French Toast was nothing special. Could’ve used more powdered sugar. Maybe the cinnamon one tastes better?
Denver omelette comes with hashbrowns + your choice of biscuit or toast. Also comes with salsa on the side. Also average.
It’s a diner but nothing special. May or may not come back.

Hands-​down the best eggs in town!
I like my eggs over hard. Other places have been hit-​or-​miss at best, apparently clueless at worst. At Allen Café, I was handed a plate prepared by a master chef. Beside my perfectly cooked eggs were a pair of super yummy pancakes and a pair of bacon strips that were just the right balance of crispy and pliable.
My server wasn’t simply friendly. She treated me like a friend! Service was personable and fast. The time from ordering to receiving my plate was very short.
The entire menu (including breakfast items) is available during all business hours, and the prices on that menu are very reasonable. The value is simply unbeatable.

Good old fashion diner style. Came for breakfast with my wife twice now. Its a small place, and can get busy during certain hours. So patience may be needed. But can’t knock them for that, it’s good eats.

Classic diner: breakfast and lunch and any time I between.
The mushroom omelet: good quantity of mushrooms and eggs and just a sprinkling of cheese. Even the hashbrowns were perfect.
But check out a menu item I haven’t seen in 30-​years: the lo-​cal plate: I ordered it this time. A10-​ounce burger patty cooked to order and a big scoop of small curd cottage cheese on the side with lettuce, cucumbers and a tomato slice. I scooped the CC on top of the patty and devoured. Delicious classic 70s dish.
They even have their own parking lot, although handicap access is not practical.

For a town seeping with chain food restaurants and fast food joints, this was a refreshing find in Allen!
I went for breakfast with my dad and my two sons. I was a little skeptical because the price points for the appearance of the place seemed a bit high, but the quality of the food was definitely there. Everyone enjoyed their meals and I, personally, loved the small town feel you get when you walk in. Definitely give this place a try!

Foods not bad. Fried okra and black eyes peas are good. The ribeye is also pretty good. Mashed potatoes are a little oniony. Service is great! Everyone’s super friendly and the place is really clean.

Best café in the Collin County!!! Great food with exceptional service along with decent price! You’ll receive warm hospitality from the staff and management! Cozy family style environment. Great for families, friends or business meetings! I just love this café!
By the way, I’ll drive all the way from Garland to come to this fantastic café, because it’s definitely worth the trip!
