Leo’s Coney Island

One of the chain coney islands, nice because you can find them throughout Michigan and they are always pretty good. One of my favorite breakfast spots. Not the greatest burgers in the world. For lunch or dinner I usually order the gyro or coney dogs. Not the best coney around but always a safe bet.

Leo’s is the BEST Greek salad and coney fries on the planet!!! If you are lucky enough to live near one, GO!!!

I was visiting the city of Detroit for the big auto show and knew I had to get some Coneys somewhere while I was in town. Being an out of towner I am unable to compare Leo’s to other Coney restaurants. But as a general food this place is A-​OK. Fair pricing, plenty of chili on the dogs, big menu. The place was packed when I arrived so clearly Leo’s has it’s fans.

The food is BLAND. I couldn’t even enjoy the saganaki. My chicken gyro was overflowing with chicken, which had a good texture, but had no taste. To make it worse, it was covering the wilted lettuce they used to make my gyro. Gross. The fries were undercooked and under salted.
My server was nice, yet brief. It seemed the other waitresses were more concerned about sitting and texting or shoving food in their mouths while exiting the kitchen.
Overall, not a fan. My husband enjoyed his lemon rice soup, but that still isn’t enough of a reason to come back to Leo’s.

Hustling, bustling, booths constantly emptied and refilled, staff rushing to and fro, busy, happy chatter as people meet and catch up and part to go about their busy Saturday.
The space is all beige with granite and black accents. There are lots of booths but they aren’t big, so when there are more than four people they slide a chair over to accommodate a fifth.
Food was good but unremarkable. I had the No.1-two eggs, meat, toast and hash browns. I ordered hot tea which was served on an oval dish with a side pot of hot water, two slices of lemon, and a packet of honey. As I wasn’t feeling too good, I was charmed by the tea and it really hit the spot. Besides the usual diner food, they also have a section of Greek specialties that I might come back to try later.
In this day and age it’s nice to see people conversing and enjoying each other instead of being nose deep in their smartphones.

Horrible service waitresses need to fix up a little more! ordered a omelet brought out the wrong one as I took a bite I noticed, had to hunt the waitress down to let her know she brought me another omelet out which was also wrong forgot to add my feta in it by the time they got it right everyone else at my table was done eating was so annoyed and aggravated lost my appetite had her take it away good thing was they didn’t charge me for the bite of the first omelet I took! on another occasion ordered a Greek salad added chicken to it chicken taste like rubber! been to Leo’s before NOT THIS ONE in particular had great service at the other ones but if u want to go to Leos I don’t suggest this one!

This was my first time eating breakfast here. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I ordered a half order of French toast, hash browns with peppers, onions and cheese, and an order of bacon. Our food came out in about 10 minutes. French toast was prepared very well. With a good amount of cinnamon and powdered sugar. The bacon was fantastic. It was thick like the bacon we cook at home, not thin like the restaurant bacon. The hash browns had a good taste to them but they were quite greasy. I’m currently clearing the grease out of my throat as I type this! lol.

Food was if not cooked fully along with completely stale nachos. Gross will never go back again

Always great food, especially the portion size for the price you pay. Service was very nice as well. The best thing is that the food came out within 5 – 10 minutes and the place was packed

The service and food is good, but not on a consistent basis. The prices of some item are expensive for the environment, but for the most it’s decent place to eat.

This is the second time I have been to Leo’s. I do not understand why it is crowded. Their food is VERY bland. Absolutely NO flavor in their food. I will NOT go back. For a much better coney island, head over to the Senate!

If there’s one world I can use to describe both the food and the service at Leo’s is «SOLID». I’ve never once had a bad experience here (or at any other Leo’s Coney Islands for that matter), then again I’ve never had a stellar experience either, but the good definitely out weighs the bad here.
Like most coney’s I frequent, I end up there for breakfast as it’s my favorite meal of the day and I’m one cranky sunnofa if my breakfast isn’t done right. Leo’s gets it right every time. If there’s one thing that really stands out in my book is the fact that if you get hash browns with your meal, you get a heaping mass of hash browns, not just a spoonful like some other places give. Not only do you get a lot but they’re also made right (crunchy and golden on the outside and cooked evenly throughout).
The service during breakfast is ultra friendly and ultra quick, my breakfast is usually served hot ‘n fresh right off the grill and my cup of coffee is hot and always full, how can you not like that?
I’ve also been here for lunch and dinner a couple of times with the family and all of my experiences have been good with the food and service. It’s typical Greek Coney fare here so you pretty much know what you’re in for, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, I mean who doesn’t like a chili covered coney w/​fries? But if you’re looking for something a little more special then you may want to look elsewhere. Overall, I’ve been very happy with the place and will continue to go back for breakfast. They had just better make sure that they keep stuffing my plate with hash browns or things could get ugly.

I tried out Leos last weekend and won’t be back for the following reasons:
1. Service rushed us. We got our appetizer, salads, and entrees within 2 minutes of each other. I mentioned something to the manager, he didn’t seem to care.
2. Food was tasteless. The chicken on the greek salad wasn’t marinated and it was bland. The gyro was lack luster.
3. Prices are ok… nothing special.
If you want a good coney island, go to Tim’s in Allen Park off Southfield. They know how to make a phenomenal Greek Chicken Salad and Gyro. Plus, they have far better service.

Always happy to take my paycheck and reward myself with a quick trip to Leo’s for some of their delicious coneys and fantastic service.
Easy place to come in and relax for an hour. The extra televisions and open air design are just added pluses.

I go to leos more than I would like to admit… and this is my spot for a quick carry out lunch while I’m at work. Small Greek salad with chicken is my go to meal and I could pretty much eat that every day for lunch.

Their lemon rice soup is fantastic. I also like their chopped chicken finger salad (substitute grilled chicken) with ranch dressing. Strange looking black and white duck hangs out by the side door. I get the salad for lunch, carryout, quite often and the duck is there about every other time. He’s used to people so I assume he was somebody’s pet who abandoned him or he escaped. Gyro is good, get the tzatziki on the side.

The only thing I’ve ever eaten here is pancakes and they’re good. It’s kind of hard to mess up pancakes, though. The food does come quick, even during the busy lunch hour.

This place is pretty legit. I’ve mostly only been for breakfast on the weekends. It gets busy but I’ve never waited more than a couple minutes.
Service is quick… but maybe a little too quick. I always feel rushed eating there. The waitstaff is mostly attentive, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard a «hey good morning, how are you?», only «what can I getcha?». Call me crazy but I appreciate a friendly waiter.
Food is good, but nothing spectacular. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, but if it’s a friend’s first suggestion or I’m in the area, it’ll do the job.

I’m a fan of this coney because my food always comes out really quick and the waitresses are efficient.
They have a really extensive menu including breakfast, lunch and dinner. I typically only get breakfast, which has never let me down.

I was driving around Dearborn Heights trying to learn the locale and I saw the words «Coney Island.» I figured there should be something resembling a hotdog with a name like that.
There appear to be a plethora of diners in this area. I ordered up a Greek pasta salad. The salad was mostly pasta with one or two slices of each vegetable indicated on the menu. Overall, the salad was still 80 – 90 percent pasta and feta. The Greek dressing was pretty good. The warm pita was a nice touch but carb overload. I also ordered up a coney dog which was a hotdog with chili, onions, and mustard. Pretty good. A coney dog, fries and a drink was 5 bucks while two coneys, fries, and a drink comes out to 7 bucks. Not a bad deal. The chili had a decent level of spice to it.
The service was really good. I’m a sucker for waitresses who refer to you as darlin or sweetheart. I guess it comes from growing up south of the Mason-​Dixon line. Overall, a pretty good sized meal for around 10 bucks.
