Tasty Dumpling House

I’ve eaten here several times. The menu has changed a lot, forcing me to order new items each time. I can honestly say that every dish I have ordered from here has been absolutely delicious. The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are very generous. If I lived closer, I’d probably come here on a weekly basis.

The name of this restaurant is misleading. We tried out this place because we were craving dumplings. The restaurant is clean, price of food in the menu is reasonable. The waiters need to be trained especially on making good recommendations to their customers in what to order. When we asked the waiter for their specialties he recommended their lunch specials. That was not why we wanted to try out their restaurant. We told him that we want some dumplings and noodle soup. Finally we settled for some beef noodle soup which was a disappointment. The beef they used were chunks of solid meat which was not tasty at all. We also had wonton soup, this was by far the best amongst the three things that we ordered. However, they used dumpling instead of wonton. We also ordered the siao long pao which was not fantastic. Overall the food that we ordered were not that great. The service was fine. It was not busy when we were there. Also, they need to change their name to something that is not that specific. The name of this restaurant suggests that their specialty is dumpling but you will be disappointed!

For a place named Tasty Dumpling, their dumpling menu was pretty limited. It is more of a family style dinner spot. My cousin/​sister and I just wanted dumplings, and dumplings we got.
We ordered the XLB, dumplings in chili oil, and the pan fried dumplings. The XLB were average. There was a slight palmolive aftertaste which we attributed to soap remnants in the bamboo steamers. The dumplings in chili oil were only lightly drizzled with chili oil and a peanut sauce. We asked for more chili oil, at which point the waiter squeezed some more oil on it for us… but what if we wanted it doused in chili oil like I envisioned? The pan friend dumplings were the best because… hello…pan fried.
The service was courteous, parking was easy since it was a random week night, the food was reasonably priced, and the place was clean.

its a Shanghai food restaurant. They have shanghainese chef. I have tried many Shanghai restaurant, this is the best. First, it’s clean. Second, the taste is just like my homeland food. Third, service is ok. Most of them can speak shanghainese which makes me feel better.
We ordered a «Ti Pang» (sweet pork) it’s huge size for four people. I love it!
Next time I am gonna try «Hun tun”(Shanghai dumpling)

I don’t understand the bad reviews at all. We had a really delicious dinner here tonight. Sadly, we were the only people in the restaurant at 6pm. The portions were huge and the prices are reasonable. I think this is the only restaurant of this type of Chinese cuisine in this stretch of Alhambra. We really enjoyed ourselves and the service was friendly.
Between three of us, we had 2 dishes, an order of dumplings and a bowl of noodle soup. More than half of the former 3 orders were brought home because the orders were so big.
Spicy eggplant/​fish sauce eggplant ($ 8.95): I don’t know why in Chinese this is called fish-​flavored eggplant. This dish was so tasty and made with peppers, bamboo and chilies. It was tangy (from vinegar), spicy and just so good. I asked if the dish had meat and they said no. I think they misunderstood me and thought I wanted it with meat. It wasn’t until 4 bites in did I notice that some of the bamboo wasn’t bamboo but was pork shreds! I don’t eat pork. Ah! I think they added it because they thought I wanted it. Boo.
Spicy chicken wings with chilies and peanuts ($ 9.95): Wow. Five stars for this dish! It was so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It has that numbing spiciness to it from the dried red chilies. They also had crunchy peanuts and cilantro in the dish.
Beef noodle soup ($ 7.95): This was surprisingly delicious and fed all three of us! It isn’t made spicy like a lot of other places but that’s OK. The flavor of the broth was really good. Not a lot of MSG if any at all. The beef was tender and flavorful and I’m glad they put spinach in it!
Pan-​fried dumplings with pork and vegetables ($ 6.95): This order is massive — 12 dumplings. I didn’t have any but my family enjoyed it. Said it was a little overseasoned but dipping them in the dark vinegar balanced it out. I can tell it was very juicy by the way they were eating them.
For dessert, they gave us complimentary sweet and cold green bean soup. Perfect after the spicy wings!
Give them a chance folks! I’ll totally be back again soon.

2.5 stars, really. I probably wouldn’t come back, knowing how many other dumpling places there are to explore. We ordered a plate of beans with scallions, and it turned out to be the biggest pile of fava beans this side of West Texas. But pretty bland, I’m afraid. We fared better with the shrimp/​egg/​leek dumpling and the beef dumpling, which was best of all. Low on the ambiance, unless one likes big screen Chinese variety show TV. I would have preferred Federer-​Djokovic. Tennis is a world sport, right?

Found this place because of groupon. I had an old expired groupon for this place so when my godfather wanted to grab some Chinese food for lunch I took him here to get rid of it, Man what can I say… well first off we were the only people there. OK fine we were a little late for lunch, we came in around 2pm. The people seemed really excited to see us, a little too excited. When I asked for a minute to look over the menu we were given maybe 20 seconds. The rest of the staff was sitting down for their lunch so maybe our server was hungry. We ordered:
pan fried pork dumplings
House Special Chow Mein
Beef with green onion (lunch special)
The soup that came out was extremely salty. All of the other dishes were ok. But the real kicker was in the middle of our lunch someone got up and turned off the lights and the TV
(luckily there was light coming in the windows from outside). I guess they were trying to save electricity. Which is fine, I just wished they cared enough for my business to not do it in the middle of my lunch. They could have at least waited until we left,

Parking isn’t a problem around here. You can park in the parking lot on the side or the back, or on the street. They made a mushroom and egg dumpling that my friend really liked so she was really sad when they discontinued it. :(They can make things vegetarian upon request. I’ve gotten their dumplings before — simple fillings, but still good, and their noodle soups — healthy tasting. I like their noodles since they taste handmade and very homey. I’ve been here 3 times in the recent months when I’m feeling like I’ve eaten too much good-​for-​the-​soul-​but-​bad-​for-​my-​artieries kind of food, and I want to eat something a little more simple and clean :)
Would recommend? If you’re in the area, and looking for something light and simple, sure!

We went pretty much straight for dumplings, and they did not disappoint. We wanted to try the xiao long bao but they were out, which lead us to a tasty soup instead:
Pan-​fried pork dumplings
Shrimp, leek, egg dumplings
Bok choy and pork dumplings
Braised beef noodle soup
All were excellent, freshly made and tender textured wrappers/​noodles. I would return, though they have pretty strong competition in SGV and are probably right at their current 3.5 star average.
The ambience is a little tough only because there were few people there and I always find that «hollows» out the feeling inside larger spaces like this one. There’s a Thai place near me that’s also consistently empty and I try not to let it get in the way of the well-​made dishes, though it can bring it down a little for some who want to feel as excited about the food as everyone around them. *crickets*

My father in law and I came here to eat and spend some quality time. We parked in the back of the restaurant not knowing it was the back. I tried to figure out how to enter the restaurant and instead I was faced with the restaurant’s kitchen. It did not seem very clean. Ah, what a turn off because I was ready to eat their food, especially their dumplings. Plus, the thought crossed my mind, is the restaurant as dirty looking as the kitchen? I hope not!
Once I figured out how to get to the restaurant, I walked in and saw the bathroom sink. Once I passed the bathroom, I walked into the restaurant. I was relieved that the physical restaurant was clean and bright.
The dumplings here are cheap eats for sure. My father in law and I both ordered a dish each and the total was less than 20 $ for the two dishes. We literally paid a 20 $ bill including the tip for the two entrees.
These dumplings are succulent and juicy. I recommend you order the fried dumplings! They are crispy on the outside and filled with fatty juices on the inside.

My friend and I had our minds and stomachs set on dumplings, but the location we usually go to was closed. But have no fear, there’s an abundance places in the 626 with dumplings! Yay! That’s where Unilocal comes handy. Tasty Dumpling House wasn’t far from us, so we decided to check it out.
The prices are reasonable and you get a decent amount of food, too. We were actually both pretty stuffed from 2 dumpling dishes.
Ordered:
— Wonton with chili oil. $ 5.95
I liked these the best out of the 2 dishes we ordered. The taste was OK, I mean the chili oil wasn’t really spicy. The wonton itself wasn’t too flavorful. I did enjoy the peanuts and cilantro they used as garnish though!
— Pork pan fried dumplings. $ 6.95
These dumplings were OK. They did not taste super good and I feel there are other resturants in the 626 that offer pan fried dumplings that are more tasty.
The service was eh… basically nonexistent unless we motioned for his attention. Overall, it was an okay experience. I might come back to give other items a try.

I came here because my friend had a groupon and we decided to try it out!
The service was extremely attentive and the food was bomb dot com! We only ordered 3 dishes (dumpling, pancakes, spicy tofu thing) and it filled the 3 of us to the brim!
The owners (I think??) are oh so cute folk that make sure to always get you refills of water, and makes sure your food is hot. They can also see when your other 2 friends can’t use chop sticks and will politely save their lives with forks.
Overall, I need to come back here and try more of the food! Oh so charming and deliciousness in every bite!

Got to try this place (thanks to a Groupon deal purchased a while back). Anyways, the food was actually not too shabby. Liked all the dishes ordered. Got Kung Pao Shrimp (kinda spicy, but flavorful), Minced Noodle, Green Onion Pancake, Beef & Green Onion Pan Fried Dumpling & Sauteed Spinach w/​garlic (fresh and just right — enough flavor, but not too salty).
Price is reasonable. Only the Kung Pao Shrimp at $ 10.95 is a little on the high side. Service is fine. Our server came over to refill water and such.
Would go back again.

Restaurant is new to 626, worth trying if right near by. Known for their #7 house special seafood dumplings $ 10.95 (pretty good, but too pricey for 626).
Also tried their nan gua #26 fried rice cashew with bok choi & pork $ 6.95 (good), seaweed app $ 3.95 (pricey, but gives good amt).
Street curb parking or back lot.
Stores away from honey badger for tea.
Clean place, very friendly staff.
Since I’ve grown up in the area, think I have alot of dumpling options on my list. This place is good but it is definitely overpriced for the neighborhood full of dumpling places in 626.

It’s okay. In the SGV there are so many great restaurants that the thought of being loyal to any of them puzzles me. I don’t think I’d come here again unless I was in the area and couldn’t be bothered to wait for anywhere else.

I’ve got to say worst dumplings I’ve ever had.
The wontons in chili oil were bland and tasteless. It was straight up chili oil on wontons. No soy sauce or any other sauces.
The seafood dumplings consisted of cheap fish and shrimp and wasn’t that tasty.
The eggplant dish was good, but I still prefer other restaurants version. They remove the skin of the eggplant, which I liked though.
The beef noodle soup was also bland, but then again, I’ve never been a fan of beef noodle soup.
The server was really friendly but the food pretty much sucked.

Never heard of this place, so when my family said this was for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, I didn’t know what to expect.
I happened to find parking right in front of the restaurant on Main St. If I weren’t so lucky, I really don’t know where I would’ve parked.
Chicken and Corn Dumpling
So I’m going to make this short and sweet; get the chicken and corn dumpling! And yes, if you’re like me, you’re making this face as if to say «that doesn’t sound all that great.» Just get it! And a lot of it! That alone is probably worth the trip here. What’s also cool is that the dumplings come in different colors (ok well I thought it was cool).
Spicy Wonton
Well, you can’t JUST eat the Chicken and Corn Dumpling. The Spicy Wonton was also a table-​favorite. Although not that spicy, the entire wonton was pretty awesome.

The last thing I want to think about right now on a 90 degree evening in LA is some hot soup, but here goes. They make a really nice HOUSE SPECIAL MEATBALL SOUP (#37) here. The broth is light, yet flavorful, but the real star are those delicate meatballs. You get three of them. Come for this when the weather cools down.
We also got two orders of dumplings, each with a dozen. The HOUSE SPECIAL SEAFOOD DUMPLINGS (#7) are cool-​looking with dumpling skins in three different colors. The skins are on the thicker side and I thought the filling was a bit bland. I preferred the BEEF & GREEN ONION PAN FRIED DUMPLINGS (#15) with the juicy and more savory filling.
The MINCED NOODLE (#17) is a good alternative in this hot weather.
While the menu is the standard non-​descriptive kind, I was surprised when the food came out in these pristine white dishes. A little ‘fancier’ than their paper menu would suggest. And service was cheery and attentive! I hope they get more traffic coming through.

Came here for lunch on a Saturday, it was pretty rmpty. We sat by the windows and every so often it would rattle, pretty annoying so I’d suggest you sit away from the windows. So the name of this place is called tasty DUMPLING house but there’s only like 5 different types of dumplings here. we ordered the minced pork noodles, spicy seafood noodle soup, and pork and bok choi dumplings. One word, BLAND. If you’re not a big fan of flavor this is your place. I mean the food is OK but its not great and I don’t see myself coming back. There’s not much variety on the menu.
Street parking and a supposed parking lot in the back. I guess the plus thing is you can get a car wash while you eat because the car was is right next door.

Decided to try a new restaurants on Friday night. Be on the lookout for their restaurant sign when driving by; it’s a sign with a picture of a dumpling. We ended up parking right in front of the restaurant. (There is also a parking lot in the back.)
Place was rather empty when we stepped in. There is only one waiter working the entire room.
I ordered their house special seafood dumplings. I like the colorful dumplings skins they had. The filling was hearty. It was a pleasant surprise when I bit into it and saw chunks of real shrimp.
My husband ordered the Beef Noodle Soup. I just thought it was ok.
Now what is the «little things» that made me give them an extra star? Water. I know that’s strange but when we ordered water, it was brought out with the straw already in without me asking! (Even left the little paper on top of the straw where your mouth would go.) And the water itself, it was orange infused water. They didn’t have to do that, but they did. Little things like that show the restaurant really takes into consideration their customers :)
