Raphael P Yeung, DDS

I’ve been coming here for years, but only started Unilocaling about his Practice. I originally started seeing the father, who also teaches at USC. I believe he is educated in England, and grew his Practice in Alhambra for over 30 years. Now his son is also working in the business, and it is a family-​run dentist office. The lobby is always clean and has the most current magazines while waiting. The dental hygienists have been with the Doctor for many years, which is good sign, as many, like nurses, tend to float around different offices. As a patient, I have never felt any pain from his services, and have been told I’ve got a good set of teeth. My grown kids still come to this office as well, as he takes Delta Dental and other insurance as well. If you’re like my son, he’ll cut you break if you don’t have insurance because he really believes in patient care, and is willing to go the extra mile to be sure you are happy with your oral care and wallet.

I have been going to Dr. Yeung for over 20 years. He and his son are very efficient, thorough, and honest. They will never recommended a procedure just to make money. My son started going there at 3 years old and they had no problem with him. I used to try to go to my appointment early just to read the great selection of magazines, but they would always take me in immediately! I have referred friends and they always have a good experience.

Dr. Raphael and his family has been my family’s dentist since I was little. Their quaint office makes you feel at home, even their waiting room is cozy and filled with warmth.
Cleanings and other services are always done thoroughly, Dr. Yeung Jr. always tells you exactly what is going on throughout each procedure and explains in detail, addressing each step of the process so that the patient can understand.
Recently been bringing in my cousins ages 6, 9, and 10 years old into the office for dental services and they’ve been amazingly patient and nurturing to the needs of their little patients.
If you’re looking for a dentist for the entire family, this place is for you :)

The best, honest, friendly dentist. He won’t make extra money out of you. Instead, He teach you how to take care your teeth, in long term, you will have health teeth. He won’t ask you do any filling if no need nor removing your wisdom teeth if not necessary. He has patient to explain the situation to you, why you don’t need it. Just not like other dentists who always ask you to do this, to that, making money. Even deep cleaning, if you don’t need it, he wont’ ask you to do. Some dentists just see what your insurance cover and ask you to do the deep cleaning regularly. Well, if you keep your teeth health, he doesn’t see the need to do it. I have been with him for 3 years.

I’ve always hated going to the dentist, and I am sure I always will but at least this dentist is quick and somewhat painless.
Dr Yeung (the son) is friendly and polite. We usually end up talking about sports while he is cleaning my teeth (it makes the time go by faster).
A regular cleaning/​check up only takes about 20 minutes compared to an hour it would take at my previous dentist, which is probably the reason why I’ve hated going to the dentist.
Highly recommended to anyone looking for a new dentist.

An honest dentist that charges reasonable fees.
I had a bit of a gum problem that he advised could be taken care of. Instead of pressuring me to fix it, he said that if it didn’t bother me, I didn’t have to take it out. It was a cosmetic decision for me to make.
Doesn’t try to sell you unnecessary work. Will even do some extra work, like a salt spray for heavy stains, at no extra charge!
Highly recommended. His brother also works here sometimes.

I’m not a fan of dentists and I dread going into each checkup, but my experience this morning here was great. It was my first visit, I had some soreness in my gums and weird feeling in the teeth lately and I wanted to get a check up. It is a father and son team here, so sometimes you will get the dad, Raphael, and sometimes the son, Nicholas, whom helped me today. After listening to me describe the soreness in the gum region, he checked the area and pointed out areas that were sensitive and the causes and how to be more careful in brushing. Also, he advised where areas needed more care in daily brushing. Just as with his teeth inspection, he is very thorough with teeth cleaning, again pointing out what areas to watch out for as food may get stuck there and where the tartar has built up. My last dentist would run through the teeth cleaning and inspection and send you off in about 15 minutes flat. And since the next appointment did not show, they were able to help me fix the cavity quickly too.
He also checked my x-​rays to make sure that there’s nothing amiss and to make sure that my old root canal is holding steady and no additional infection is there.
And, if you’re specific on credentials; Nicholas (the son) graduated from UCLA Dentistry and Raphael (the dad) from University in England. So don’t worry, they know their dentistry very well here.
I think now I won’t dread going to the dentist!
