The food here was amazing and the owner was super nice! The noodles were so well made yet not oily and the satay chicken sauce was delicious! I would definitely come back(:

Had lunch here today with the wife. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the size of the portions. The food was very good and the prices were extremely fair. Try the Gado Gado, the Tamarind Soup and the Avocado and Chocolate drink.

Food: 3 Stars. Food was good overall. It’s been some times since I was here so I don’t recall the detail. But I almost never think about this place unless I happen to drive down the side street in Alhambra. Ambiance: 2 stars. Think Hole in the wall but smaller. Service: 3 stars. Not much service here. Expense: 3 stars. I guess you get what you pay for. But I really wouldn’t mind paying a little more to get better… Everything. Return: 3 stars. I might if I need Indo food nearby but there’s better choice not too far a way. So overall 2.75 stars.

I went to Indo Kitchen four times and I still have not tried all of their menu. So far I ate Nasi A Yam Baker And Sayur Asem, Gado gado, Pempek lenggang, pempek telor, lemper, risoles. Every bit of lemper feels worth the price. The lemper has enough amount of rice and quite generous chicken filling. I like to order take out and I am happy that the portion is big for the price. I ate worse Indo food near downtown LA or in other place. Nasi AYam Baker And Sayur Asem is good. Consistent quality, like the chicken. It also includes the tamarind soup. I will visit again.

Decent authentic Indonesian food in this area, which is rare. Around here it’s not that common to have an Indonesian restaurant. This place is pretty small but I like it. The dishes are what I expect from Indonesian kitchen, delicious, usually fresh grilled fish and curry in at least one of your dish that you order. We were 3 people and ordered a fish, rice and noodle. All were prepared to our satisfaction.

It’s so rare to find Indonesian food, it seems, which is such a shame. Good thing there’s IndoKitchen! I used to live a few blocks away and would eat here often. The restaurant is small, quite the hole-in-the-wall establishment, and the décor is not the greatest. But the food is sure delicious and the waitress is so nice! My favorites dishes are: — Pempek Telor(Fried Fish Cake): The sauce has a bit of a spicy kick, but it’s one of those dishes where you just can’t stop eating! — Gado-Gado(Indonesian Salad) — Sate Babi(pork satay) — Nasi Campur(combination rice) — Soto Ayam My favorite drinks are: — Ice Campur — Ice Cendol — Ice Tape — Avocado Smoothie This place is pretty affordable so you get a lot of bang for your buck. They do have a minimum charge of $ 20 for credit cards, so be sure to bring cash!

In my quest to find a DECENT local Indonesian restaurant, this place struck out hard. I know people like their protein but it’s hard to sit and relax when you have flies bothering patrons in the dining area. I ordered two dishes, one chicken wanton soup which I personally did not try/taste and mie goreng with chicken which was what I was really looking forward to eating. Unfortunately, my dish never came. The ice in my water had already melted, two other tables got their full orders and one already received their table checks looking to pay and I have yet to see my dish. I politely told the elderly waitress that I wanted to take care of my bill because I grew tired of waiting. She had the audacity to almost refuse to take my credit card because she said there is a $ 20 min. charge for using a credit/debit card and profusely tried to explain why I haven’t gotten my dish. There really wasn’t much she can say or do at this point nor anything I cared to do other than cut my losses, pay the $ 1 transaction fee and leave… quickly. Pity, I was not lucky enough to try what could have been some good, cheap indonesian food. For a 20min. drive for this disaster of a place? Doubtful I’ll ever make that drive again to this place due to my experience with lack of service and terrible atmosphere. There are plenty of better options for me that are within that time/distance.

Been here regularly and about time I review this place. This is a small café style kinda homemade food. Food are delicious. Favorite dish for me, the sambal shrimp, ayam penyet with side soup, long tong are all good. I love the in house hot sauces they provided. Price reasonable cheap, portion good.

Slow service: have to wait 30 minutes to order Nasi Empal with Tamarind soup Stingy Portion: The beef consist of 4 small pieces of low quality meat, they tried to compensate by presenting it on a big plate with un-needed roman lettuce and 2 pieces of cucumber, but the bottom line is for $ 7.99 + Tax + Tip = $ 9.70…this restaurant is not competitvely priced. NOT good value for your money, especially where Alhambra is supposed to be famous for Food Haven, where price is reasonably cheap and portions generous. THISISNOTWESTWOOD or BEVERLYHILLS !!!

This has been my favorite place to get my favorite dishes: nasi bungkus, satay, mie goreng and es campur. Last night, I tried to go on a different direction and got the Batagor… I had to throw it out because it was so slimy and you can smell that it wasn’t good anymore. I’m sure they had prepared that couple days ahead but I wonder when they cooked it if they actually smell it. When I got it and smell it, it was obvious it’ll go to waste. I was gonna call but decided to just let it go because I wasn’t going to deal with the waiter/cashier, I feel he wasn’t in the mood of working or that’s just how he is and God hasn’t given me a lot of patience to deal with people like that. Also, the es campur didn’t have avocado and barely had the condensed milk. I guess it wasn’t my night to eat there :/

Food was ok, but lil’ bit too sweet for the real Indonesian food, i would give 3.5 stars for the foods, but ½ star for service. the server is a real dick. My husband chicken was half cooked, and he told the server, and all the server said was«emmmm.» And he left to his station, no sorry, NOTHING! He never refill our water, all he did just watched TV, and talk with the other staff in the kitchen! He over charge us with the rice crackers too, and again, never said sorry, just«emmm…» WTH!!! Next time i go there, i’ll make sure that guy is not around! The other lady is alot better!!!

I’ve been here a few times and mostly to go. I heard about the cashier/waiter guy who one of the Unilocaler said that he is a DICK… Quit true. He is rude and doesnt give a sh*t. I ate there on 11/24/2014. The guy served us and it was true. He didnt even give us the menu, when we got our food the food was cold. The tempe taste horrible, my chicken was under cooked and still a bit of blood. When i mentioned it to him and all he could do was«oohhhh» thats it??? And our water glass was empty. I am… Very Disappointed…

Very flavorful Indonesian food… the way it should be. Other places hold back, this place doesn’t. Request their sambal terasi. It’s a condiment. Indo Kitchen’s version is very good. Ordered the sate kambing, which was perfect. Wife ordered nasi pecel lele. This dish came with two portions of fish. We didn’t order it, but we heard several people order the nasi Goreng merah, red fried rice. The food here is solid. There are several Indonesian restaurants in the area. Indo Kitchen is near the top. Not halal for sure since they serve sate Babi

Food buddy, John T. and I were determined to try this place after they were closed last time(it was 15 minutes before closing and they had already locked the doors!!!) To be honest, we’re such noobs when it comes to Indonesian food that we thought Indonesian food was just«Indonesian Fried Rice» at Garden/Baccali/Sunday/etc. Café! I’m SO glad we gave this place a chance! REAL Indonesian food is good! To be fair, since I’ve never had Indonesian food, I’m giving this place 4 stars. FOOD: 1) Pempek Telor — GETIT(Fried fish cake with a whole egg served with sweet vinegar sauce and cucumber) appetizer. This was a fish cake pregnant with a hard boiled egg inside of it, and it was taking a warm sweet vinegar and cucumber bath! The sauce really made this dish. It didn’t have the strong vinegar taste or smell one would automatically think of. I loved that it was spicy as well. The fried fish cake and the egg was alright, I felt like the egg was too dried out. Honestly, if they gave me that sauce by itself, I’d have drank the whole thing. 2) Kwetiaw goreng — SKIPIT(Java style fried thick rice noodle cooked with chicken, egg, shrimp, and vegetables). I thought this dish tasted decent by itself, but after watching John T. pour the Pempek Telor sauce(and thinking, «OHMAN, I BETTERHURRYBEFOREIT’S GONE!»), I decided to pour some on the noodle as well. It was pretty good that way. This dish does need some extra flavor, if you don’t order any sweet vinegar sauced fish cakes, just ask for hot sauce… it would suffice. Though I probably wouldn’t order this again. 3) Nasi Rames Padang — GETIT(Padang style rice combination of Padang curry vegetables, beef rendang, chilli egg, fried mashed potato, and green chili). This dish looked beautiful. It resembles curry(probably because it IS curry), but with a slight twist. All the ingredients were separated nicely just waiting to have it’s picture taken. The dish was spicy which was too awesome for me! The meat was tender, the vegetables were plenty, and the curry tasted decent. I kind of found the Chili Egg odd, it was like… fried on the outside. The fried mashed potato was also a bit odd to me, it wasn’t fabulous, and it only made me crave Porto’s. But this dish as a whole, I really enjoyed this dish! FINALVERDICT: Overall, I really enjoyed this place. There were so many items on the menu that I didn’t get to try, and that I would really want to try one day. Hopefully it gets better and better!

3 ½ stars sounds about right for this place! Got out of my comfort zone and tried something new to me. This was almost my first time that I saw what indonesian people look like. They’re cooooooool peeeeps! Jennifer T and I decided to try out the one restaurant that eluded us the first time. According to Unilocal,it says that this place closes at 10pm… but the actual store location states otherwise. It closes at 9pm. I probably think Indo Kitchen should notify Unilocal to get it straightened out. Don’t want to leave hungry hungry hippos like us in the dark and when we do get to the place… it is closed… which makes us become sad… sad… hungry hungry hipppos! :( Location: Place is hard to spot. It’s located across the street from the Denny’s parking lot. You can either park in the parking area or park in the residential area. Service: Can’t really expect superior customer service at a small restaurant. There was only one waitress working tonight. When we got to the place, the waitress was nowhere to be found. We were waiting around for a bit to be seated. After a minute or two of standing around, she finally gets out of the kitchen to seat us. Food: Tonight we ordered three items. 1) Pempek Telor(Fried fish cake with a whole egg served with sweet vinegar sauce and cucumber) Loved it! Makes it even more enjoyable when you are a fish cake fan. What makes this appetizer enjoyable is the cooked whole egg inside of the fish cake and last but not least the spicy vinegar sauce that gives it a kick! 2) Mie/Bihun/Kwetiaw goreng(Java style fried noodle, choice of egg noodle/thin rice noodle/thick rice noodle cooked with chicken, egg, shrimp, and vegetables) We got the Kwetiaw goreng noodles. This dish resembles a thai dish… pad see ew, or the hong kong pan fried… It does have some flavor to it, but I would recommend ya’ll to put the sauce from the Pempek Telor into the noodles. 3) Nasi Rames Padang(Padang style rice combination of Padang curry vegetables, beef rendang, chilli egg, fried mashed potato, and green chili) This plate was good also. Highly recommend it for curry fans! I also loved the fried mash potato and the beef rendang was tender. Would definitely come back to try more food.

small tiny place with good home style Indonesian food. Came here with friends who are Indonesian– Chinese and they think this place is the best Indo food in town. The picture menu is very helpful, otherwise BF and I wouldn’t know what to order. BF ordered the fried chick dish, it came out last and was a bit of dry, maybe it was over cooked? I had curry rice and it was nice, the rice cake was a new thing for me. We also had some pan fried noodle; that tasted like Chinese chow-fan. Loved the fried egg! PS. must get the shrimp chips, $ 1 per bag by the cash register, it is Sooo good.

I’m not sure what to give this place. It’s a bit below«A-OK» but i have not had anything better because i don’t go eat indonesian food often, but in terms of asian food I’ve definitely had better. Anyway the restaurant is small, service is quite slow. we were here on a saturday night and there’s only one waiter. I’m not sure how many people are working in the kitchen, probably not many either. I shared a Gado Gado with my husband. It’s boiled vegetables with a heavy amount of peanut sauce«dressing» or gravy however you call it and topped with shrimp chips. Imagine a COOKED salad: greens on the bottom, peanut sauce as dressing, and shrimp chips as croutons. The peanut sauce is like the sauce they use for satays. over all this dish was not very impressive, it’s a very simple dish. I ordered a fried cornish hen with white rice which comes with tamarind soup. I like the soup, it reminds me of tom yum soup from a thai restaurant. The cornish hen was good, it’s got their marinated taste, the skin was crispy, however the meat was a bit dry. I got to try some of my friend’s stir fry noodle dishes — it basically reminds me of chinese chow fun, nothing special, nothing that stands out«indonesian». I thought there would be more spices or herbs. Everything was very sweet. I think Indonesian food is more similar to Filiipino food than thai or malayasian. I’m not saying Indo Kitchen is bad, but it’s not something I would be craving for. I wouldn’t mind dining here if someone wants to eat here.
