Ever a fan of zombie-related activities, when we heard there was a zombie walk in Alhambra(especially right in front of Grill ‘Em All, woo!), we made sure to come out. Didn’t have time to do our make-up for it, but it was still great watching everyone else. Originally they were going to meet in the abandoned Mervyn’s parking lot, but the event moved to the corner of Main and Garfield, in front of the Applebee’s. With Alhambra’s zombie walk — rather than just meeting in a particular spot, then stumbling around a set route for a while before calling it quits and wandering off to your own devices(like most zombie walks and flash mobs) — their gathering is more of a game. The horde breaks up into teams to take out specially marked people in certain areas for points, and between jaunts around the block they gather for activities(dancing, trivia, and costume contests). This was their second year and I hope they keep it going for many years to come. There were also way more kids at this walk than I’ve seen at others. Fun for the whole undead family. The folks who put this together are really cool, and it was neat that the local businesses supported the event.
