Alhambra Optometry

Came into this optometry today and was so appalled by how unprofessional and rude the sales lady was! Nobody greeted me when I walked in, so I approached this woman behind the counter and asked if she could assist me. Her reply was «can’t you see I’m obviously busy? You need to wait.» My goodness, I was SHOCKED. I’m very surprised that there are this many 4+ star reviews for this optometry because I would never bring my business here or recommend anyone to come to this place. The selection is limited and there were a lot of old, outdated glasses frames.

The staff here is pretty friendly. The first time I came, one of the staff was nice enough to help me clean my glasses for free and without me asking. That was great.
However, the doctor was impatient and seemed like he was in a hurry to finish my exam. It felt like he didn’t want to answer my questions because he kept interrupting me. Even when I was answering his questions, he would interrupt and all-​around act like he didn’t want to be there. That was turn-​off and confused me because of all the glowing reviews for this place.
The price isn’t that much different from other optometries around the area.
Even though the staff are friendly, they can be very impatient and if you ask questions they start to get suspicious of you and try to end the conversation as soon as they can.
However, the wait-​time here is basically zero to none which I definitely like.
I don’t know if I will be returning here for my next eye exam, but I can say that I’m overall satisfied with the prices, the customer service and the doctor.
Parking is in a very small mini plaza.

EFFICIENT AND COST EFFECTIVE. Everyone in my family has been coming to Alhambra Optometry for over five years so we are pretty loyal customers. We had so-​called vision insurance, but it turned out that this place is actually much cheaper. We also live an hour away and still find the drive worth it.
Besides cost, Alhambra Optometry is the best when it comes to efficiency. Forget those eye glass chains like LensCrafters, which make you wait forever and pay a ton. You will be in and out of this place in no time with excellent service. If you’re in a particular hurry, you can call ahead to ask them how crowded it is. My mom likes to talk to the ladies there (they speak Chinese and English) and they’re awesome at helping us find the best contact lenses rebates and giving us samples (contact lenses, solution, etc.). They also patiently taught me how to put on contacts back in the day. The last time I went we mentioned that we are going on a vacation soon so they gave me an extra pair of contacts and travel-​sized contact solution!
Dr. Wu is professional and super quick with his checkup. He’s not much of a talker, but absolutely no complaints with him.
If you’re ever having trouble with your glasses (sizing, the glass fell out of the frame, etc.), you can always walk in and they’ll gladly help you out.

My friend’s glasses fell out from the frame and I brought him there, and they fixed it for free in no time. His glasses were not bought from them.

The staff was really nice and friendly. I walked in and was able to get my eye exam done really quickly. Also Good price for the exam!

Dr. Wu and staff are all patient, friendly and nice. It was my first time put on contact lenses and they patiently taught me how to do. I recommend coming there.

First time here at this optometrist. Dr Wu and staff are very friendly and professional. It was my first time in a long time getting a pair of prescription lens, and the staff was really knowledgeable on what goes well with each other in terms of lens material and lens coating. Will definitely come here again!

Friend highly recommend me to come here to get my new glasses. I bought 90 pieces eye contacts and one purple glass here already. They are very good price and excellent customer service!!! I can not find any other places better than this !!! Everybody should come here to find the best glasses!!!

The staff is the best. They’re generous toward their customers. They also give out discounts if they see you a few times. That, to me, is pretty good. Definitely will come back for another «extra» pair of glasses! Haha.

I need to add I haven’t had any experience with eye exam or doctor visit at this place.
I was visiting out of town and had dropped one of my contact lenses. Being «blind» in one eye, I scrambled to find a local place that can give me a contact lens trial or something. I showed them my contact lens prescription, and Alhambra Optometry was able to accommodate me. I was helped by a couple of the staff ladies. They made sure it fits before I go.
I think I will come back for my annual exam. I was told contact lens exam is $ 79 without insurance. Cheaper than my local Walmart.
P. S. Staff speaks fluent Cantonese. This is almost a given in the area but might be a deal breaker esp for the elderly in the fam.

When I first walked into the optometrist, I was thrown off by all the Chinese characters and the out dated green décor. Though it was disheartening, I was quickly helped by Simon. He was courteous and straightforward with their selection. I gave him my budget limit and he showed my an array of glasses. I was afraid I would have to deal with a sales person, but he didn’t try to sell me any glasses that I didn’t want. My trip to the office was a little over an hour and it included an eye exam and the selection of the glasses. I was afraid it would have been a hassle, but the trip was a lot more enjoyable. If you are looking for a simple place to get your glasses with affordable frames, I recommend coming here.

3 years later and I still believe this is one of the best optometry places in town! I don’t live in the area anymore, but I still make sure to stop by every year. Huge selection of glasses and amazing service. Will be back again next year.

Best optometry shop in town with a in house doctor that is very knowledgeable in the field. And did I mention that their pricing for their quality of service is unbelievable. Great eye exam at a very great price while offering unbelievable services and qualities for such an affordable price.

Good customer service here, Doctor gets to the point and complete exams fast and easy. Good selection of glasses, also location is near many noodle shops and supermarket is next to it, his assistance are very helpful and knowledgeable and take time to help you get what you need

I called today, a Saturday, around 10am to make an appointment because of some of the reviews and because it covers vsp members and I read on here saying that the weekends get busy; there was only 1 person waiting ahead of us and the lady sounded nice so I assumed this place would live up to its 5 star Unilocal status. We went in and followed some of the tips about the location and yeah it was kind of hard to spot but not as difficult as others have mentioned. Like some other reviews, I can understand why some people think that the doctor doesn’t seem like he enjoys his job because he seems to rush, but hey — I just think he wants to do the task and be done with it, doesn’t mean he doesn’t enjoy it. Anyway the doctor was cool and did the job so plus one star for him, I would come again for an exam, but picking out glasses was another story.
The lady at the counter (there were 2 ladies, but we only interacted with one) that was helping us pick out glasses (I didn’t ask for her name and, frankly, I didn’t care) was so rude. We (My boyfriend and I) didn’t mention our budget and we were looking for Calvin Klien brand glasses, which we mentioned when we walked in and they told us they don’t have so we opted for other brands, and when we did find a frame we liked it was way out of our budget, and after we found out the total of everything we told the lady we didn’t want it and that we wanted cheaper ones and when we did that she asked how much cash we brought (we didn’t tell her because it’s none of her business and who the hell asks that to a customer anyway) instead of how much our budget was and then she let out a loud sigh, excuse you lady — we were just about to give in to buy those expensive ass frames because the cheaper ones didn’t look or feel as good, and after that we mentioned again that we were looking for a certain brand because the insurance covers most of it, she clearly did not understand what we were talking about and laughed in our faces. That was the last straw, that lady needs to learn some manners, that fool just lost some customers. We expected so much more from this place because of the reviews but we won’t be coming back because of the negativity and attitude you gave us, we’re out.

I had such a great experience here. Ryan was such a big help, no pressure to make sales, just straight up customer service. super informative and friendly. I recommend this place to all crowds if you want it they have it!
ONE TIP: this place could be a little difficult to find. however, it is in the Wendy’s plaza all the way to the back to the left if you were facing the supermarket. You’ll thank me later ;-)

Pricing: We have insurance, not sure how much it could have been if we don’t.
Waiting Time: less than 10 minutes
Parking: It can be a bit tricky for it’s inside a small shopping center.
Service: Love it, Dr. Wu is the best, was very patience with my two little one and explained everything thoroughly with me, in order for me to make an informative decision. Also, he made my kids feel comfortable during the examination and they were both very happy during the entire process. Happy kids = Happy mom.
Tips: The doc can speak both English and Chinese fluently. So it’s a plus for those that don’t speak English.

Friendly employees! My entire family comes here for our eye care needs. We feel that they are a lot more honest than our previous optometry. They have a pretty decent selection of glasses of all brands and styles. They are closed Wednesdays.
