This is the best bakery in United States, 85c actually from Singapore, Asian bakery skills are amazing most important less calories than all this bakery you can find around LA. Price wise cheap very cheap range from 1 $ to 18 $. aka Russian Hustle

I was happy to see 85 finally comes closer to where I live. But me and my friends got food poisoning from the drink and cake twice here. We called and complained to the store but 85 didn’t admit it is their fault. Very disappointed and will not go back for sure.

MICHAEL T gives the best customer service! Great recommendation on the Grapefruit Green Tea! Downside — you don’t have much bread selections as other 85 bakery’s.

After a long wait, an 85 Degrees has finally opened in the SGV. Like any other 85 Degrees, there are many unique buns with interesting flavors, cakes, and drinks. The quality of the food and drinks is the same as any other location, but the venue is what makes this location different. The high ceiling makes the store look large, and there is a HUGE open space in the middle of the store. This makes the store look less busy and crowded compared to other locations. However, I think they should add more tables and seating because it is very limited. Feels like a grab and go place. I get my two favorites here, the pork floss bread and the mountain green tea. Also it is a good place to pick up cakes for parties or company events. There is a free parking structure behind the store shared with Lohas Grocery Store.

Get the nutty looking breads, so freaking good. There’s a white chocolate type of bread as well which is also delish. The space inside is huge, I see lots of ppl drinking beverages and eating the pastries. It made me wished we did that for breakfast but we only came here after lunch. :( I think we got 4 type of breads and it was all good. Super flaky and not chewy. Also we kept seeing the bakers coming out with trays of fresh bread and everytime, they would say fresh bread! I don’t remember if it was chinese or English but most likely the former. If I had a spacious bakery near me that had good bread and it was quiet, I’d go there all the time. Oh to live in Los Angeles. So sad

I was introduced to 85 degrees by a friend a few weeks ago, and the very next day I attended a Bar-b-que and tasted the little pieces of heaven. I am a BIG bread lover and 85 degrees just brought my love to another level. The bakery is hands down the best for fresh pastries, desserts, and bread. They have an amazing menu, the bread if course is filling, the items are well priced and HOT, depending on the time of day you go. Everything is hand made daily. Staff is very friendly and hard at work to keep the pastries fully stocked and fresh. The location was very clean, bright, and the smell of sweet goodies. I really recommend stopping by one if their locations. I just turned all my co-workers into new customers.

I was actually pretty happy to see 85C open a location in Alhambra. I used to be a super fan of the taro bread, but I moved out of Irvine. Parking is available in the back. Though the quality of 85C has lowered since it got acquired, I still come back for that taro bread. What I like about this location is that it’s pretty big and it doesn’t get packed as the one in Diamond Jamboree. Would recommend getting a jasmine milk tea alongside. Prices are pretty cheap too! If you haven’t tried, you should.

Avoid going around 7:30am, traffic is bad due to the high school. No traffic after 7:55am. Their morning selection isn’t the greatest, but this is about the only place to get asian tea in the morning. Never had any troubles getting my drinks or bread, but I usually only order like one bread and a drink. The Iced sea salt mountain green tea(longest name on the menu) is amazing. Make sure you shake and mix the drink up after ordering it. It tastes similar to an oolong milk tea with salt and some matcha. A friend has recommended not to get the black or jasmine green tea versions. They have a promotion of buy three iced teas get one free going on right now.

What the hell ??? went in early in the morning hope to get variety of breads and rolls(like right after its opening). well, not even half of the shelves were stocked. what the hell are the employees doing, who is the donkey thats running this bakery? if they expect business then they should have products ready for customers. SEVERAL times i get there, shelves are empty. its a constant disappointment, i don’t think its the workers in the kitchen that failed to perform, but its management that failed to plan instead. will i go back again? well, the store is located on my walking route, will take a walk through the place to see if they have improve their service and their system.

The hype is real whenever an 85 degrees pops up anywhere. It’s the equivalent of share tea showing up somewhere. From a critical stand point, this bakery’s selling point is how fresh their bread is. If you’ve been standing in here for five minutes, you’d know. I went in during a pretty busy hour on a weekend, so I like that they were well staffed enough to keep up with the demand. Other than the freshness of the bread, the baked goods here is not much different from other bakeries. The selection is very fusion, especially the chocolate buns that end up getting produced. If your looking for more traditional asian buns like red bean, this might not be your place. If you’re looking to save money, you could probably get the same bun for much cheaper elsewhere since, again, this place is all about fresh. Literally come in looking to stuff something in your face! Personally, I prefer the taste of a different bakery, but this place is hip!

I used to go to west covina location more. I had no problem with this bakery until my second visit at this Alhambra location yesterday afternoon. It was not crowded and didn’t have a line at the cashier. I was served by a male and female non-asian staff. They were chatting for a moment and the male staff yawned before greeting me and a friend. After we paid, we were offered for box or bag for the bread and we opted for the bag. Guess what happened when I unloaded them when I got home. They were all pressed and distorted except for the loaf of wheat toast. The brioche loaf was almost flattened at the bottom of the bag. Is this how you treat your products after your customer has paid for them??? Or is that how you try to skimp on using one more bag if there is not enough space??? This is ridiculous and disappointing!!!

This location is better than the Pasadena one imo. It’s super clean and the bread just tastes so much fresher. For ppl on the healthy side id seriously recommend the multi grain loaf of bread. It has raisins and walnuts and it’s just SOFREAKINGGOOD like wat. I’d never thought I’d be liking a MULTIGRAIN bread. But it’s just so bomb.

Since my first visit ever to 85 °C(in Anaheim), this bakery has expanded to more locations, Alhambra being one of them. Love the expansion because(1) it is more convenient for me to drive to Alhambra,(2) more reasonable lines to pay for purchase and no line to wait in to get into the bakery, and(3) no fights for popular baked goods. I needed some breakfast food for Saturday and the only time I had to make the food run was after work on Friday. That itself would’ve been the start of a disaster, right? Luckily traffic was good. Next, there’s a convenient parking structure behind 85 °C and parking is free(for 2 hours)! I was able to get in, select and pay for my marble taro bun, berrytale bun, and guava strudel(3 of each) with no problem and with a relatively short wait to the register. Quality of the food is consistent with the 85 °C brand. Great addition to Alhambra!

My favorite bakery in all of LA! Every piece of bread they make is so moist and fluffy and the cream they use to fill the inside of their breads is the perfect balance of creamy-cheesy deliciousness. My favorite the blueberry one. I forgot what it’s called but it has blueberries on top and cream cheese filling. Perfect thing you have with your coffee in the morning! Their 85degree coffee is also so so good! Not too strong, with the perfect amount of milk and sugar. Do not need to add anything to it as it has been made perfect! Well, You may need to add a little sugar if you like your coffee sweeter. So excited for the downtown location to open!

Afternoon drink and snacks on Monday, 12÷21÷15 Finally! An 85 opened up in Alhambra. They have a parking structure in the back. No street parking. Fresh bread! They have«buy 3 get 1 free» deals occasionally on random pastries. The selection is smaller if you arrive when they open at 7am. In general though, I agree with other Unilocalers that this place is good because it’s less crowded but I also feel that the variety of breads isn’t there. Sometimes there are tons of the same breads placed on different locations of the shelves. My favorite was the rose bread filled with cream cheese but it’s been discontinued. Other choices I have settled with are berrytale, tuna danish, coffee bread with mochi and red bean filling, egg tart with mochi, and the hot dog bun. As for drinks, the taro latte is pretty good if you don’t want the caffeine. It isn’t too sweet either. I enjoy all the drinks from their sea salt collection. If I want a drink that’s filling, the red bean smoothie is delicious. It keeps me full for a few hours. Their breads are fresh but make sure you ask about their cakes. I’ve bought cakes from another location where it wasn’t fresh so the cake is dry and crumby. When it’s fresh, the strawberry tiramisu and cookie crumble are delicious!

UPDATE: For their hot 85 c coffee, the lid is HORRIBLYUSELESS! Coffee leaks from EVERYWHERE! My car’s cup holder overflowed and there’s coffee on my car floor. Tried to drink from it and it leaks from under the lid /rim of the cup. The girl put the lid on correctly, I pressed down on the lid all around and it was on right but there is no seal. Check out the video for proof. Having said that, the coffee was delicious! Haha — Came again when it was quiet and their shelves were full. Staff is really nice! It’s starting to grow on me now Got the caramel milk tea boba and a bunch of baked goodies! Cheese tart, egg tart, chocolate bun, mango cream cheese bun and a big brioche.

I was mildly satisfied with this 85C location. While it was very near where I was staying, the space lacks the capacity and comfort for ease of shopping. There’s precious little seating area and this spot in general resembles an outpost. Going around the bread area, I felt totally uneasy with people on-top of me trying to get various baked good offerings. Spacing in that area is really limited. Which leads me to another reasoning for my lackluster grade: the selection here is pretty inconsistent. While the first visit here yielded my favorite brioche loaf and taro bun, the second visit had neither of those… the entire day. Two bestsellers not available the whole day? Really? The giant brioche roll is not an adequate substitute as it tasted like a poor version of a pineapple bun. The egg custard tart was rather thoughtful, though perhaps a bit too sweet. It’s still one of my favorites. The sea-salt jasmine tea is just way too sweet. Maybe my palette has changed but I don’t recall the sea-salt teas this sugary. It’s an adequate 85C, as long as there’s brioche loaf and taro bun.

I call it the Asian Portos, but Portos is better. This place is not bad. Affordable drinks and breads are mostly 1.80−3.00 for one item. Unfortunately I only come here for ONE bread only and that’s the calamari(it’s all black and there’s no calamari in there at least I think). It tastes like garlic bread but it’s not. 4 of these black breads for 1.00, so cheap. They seem to always run out of this by night time when I’m off work. I’ve tried the blueberry milky bun I hate it gave me diarrhea because there’s so much cream cheese in it lol. And the drinks: Red bean smoothie-4.00 tastes like the real thing, love it. Jasmine green tea with sea salt– it’s good but now I get it without the cream sea salt because it’s fattening. 2.75 around there, inexpensive then if you were to go to a tea place. Can be ordered hot or cold.

** Coffee review only ** BECAREFUL when you order a hot coffee here. They didn’t put the lid on tight enough and it would have led to disaster had my friend not noticed it. This is a beautiful new location for the bakery Goliath that’s 85c. It’s light, bright, and open. I agree with others that the setting is strange. The bread section seems small as does the refrigerated cake area. I ordered an americano for $ 2.50. I’m not sure if there was a huge order prior to mine because it took forever just to get the coffee. I had to go up and ask someone what was going on and I’m pretty sure my one order got lost in the busy shuffle. There is NO milk by the packets of sugar. If you want milk for your americano, you have to ask for it and they give it to you in a sample cup of sorts. Kinda disappointing considering how ‘upscale’ I think 85c is known for. But the loose coffee lid on a burning hot americano is unacceptable. That’s just careless and could lead to someone hurting themselves. So again, check the coffee lid before you take a sip next time you’re here.

I have a love/hate relationship with 85. I didn’t understand why people would drive to Irvine just to wait in these ridiculously long lines for overpriced bread. So I didn’t really take advantage of the Irvine’s 85. It wasn’t until I left Irvine and all the 85 bakeries were opening up away from SGV did I reconsider my former opinion about the bakery. They’ve definitely improved! So when I heard news that Alhambra was going to be opening up its very own 85, I was overjoyed. I scoped out the place before it opened and saw that it took up a good amount of space on Main Street. But upon visiting the store — this has got to be my least favorite 85 location out of the many ones I have visited. The layout of the store is so horrible that you can’t help but wonder what they were thinking when they designed this layout for the store. Upon walking into the bakery, you’re immediately greeted by the sight of the familiar shelves that encase the ever popular«fresh bread» that 85 sells. But there’s only a small L-shaped section in the store that houses the bread. I was a little confused by how tiny the bread section was and even looked around to see if there was more bread elsewhere. I came a week after the Grand Opening, and it was still packed. So the tiny section was cramped. Everywhere you turned, you were shoved or pressed against another person. This made trying to get the perfect bread incredibly tough. They really need to rethink their bread section. There’s also a huge window where you can look into the kitchen and see the pastry chefs hard at work. I think the window can be blocked by more shelves or something. And then you have a gigantic space where there’s only 3 – 4 tables but lots of empty room all around. Hopefully they’ll add more tables. If the storefront is already so big, why not use the space to its fullest? The line snaked along all the way to the bread section and almost out the door, making it really difficult to maneuver. The bread selection is quite small, so they have to try to put as many breads out there as possible. Unfortunately they didn’t have any of my favorites when I went there, but of the ones I did get, they tasted very solid and similar to all the other ones I have had at various 85 locations. I also ordered a sea salt jasmine tea, which is super amazing. They announced right when I ordered that it would take another 15 – 20 minutes to brew a fresh batch of jasmine tea. Which was fine, but the tea I had was super bitter. Guess I know that the tea was made fresh! tl;dr — Try to go when you«think» there will be less people. The layout is totally unfit to house more than a certain number of guests. There’s a ton of parking in the lots and the street, but if you go on a Friday night or weekend, note that parking will be difficult to find!
