History

Established in 2013.

Zweet Sport Hot Yoga is a studio located in Historic Old Town Alexandria, and owned by Kimberly Landini & Marja Toan. Both are avid yoga practitioners with a background in Bikram Yoga, although the studio offers a range of classes that cater to all different levels of practice.

All of our classes are heated using our state of the art heat and humidity system.

Kimberly L.

Business Owner

Kimberly is a certified 200 RYT yoga instructor with a concentration in Hatha Yoga. She has trained under Senior Bikram Yoga Instructor Jim Ambrogi for the last 2 years, and completed her first Yoga Asana Competition in 2012, where she placed 3rd in the state of Virginia. As taught by her guru, Kimberly’s style centers around not how much you do in practice, but HOW you do it. She is well versed in how to modify different postures for different bodies, and enjoys working with beginner to very advanced students.

As I said, they listen to their clients and are willing to make changes. The class with Julie was changed from 60 to 75 minutes. Julie really is a great instructor and challenges both hardcore yogis, as well as guys that want to supplement their current workout plan with something different once a week. My wife also like how Julie challenges her as a true yogi and looks forward to future specialized clinics that she is having at Zweet. I just like how there are options to take it to the next level and compliment a current workout program. It’s the «whole person» approach to fitness and wellness.

Hands down one of the best yoga studios I’ve practiced in! The environment is relaxing, inviting, and more importantly there is never a feeling of judgement. Having practiced yoga in various places in the past 10yrs it is extremely refreshing to enter a space where everyone is encouraged to go at a pace that feels right for them.
I’ve recently had disc issues and muscle spasms that caused severe lower back pain (to the point where it was debilitating). Practicing at this studio and speaking with Kimberly about my issues has helped me more than any pain management a doctor has prescribed in the last three months. This is the first time in months that I have not had a muscle spasm! I’m so grateful for Kimberly’s guidance and expertise in her practice. I could not recommend this studio enough!
I live in MD with a yoga studio literally two blocks down from my house and I make the drive here. Those of you who know NOVA traffic patterns will know that this is saying a lot.
EDIT: How could I forget to mention the music? It’s such a great addition to an already wonderful class and keeps you out of your own head.

Absolutely amazing. I feel healthy, stretched (no more tightness or soreness) and clean (post shower). I really feel like that one hour purified my body. I feel great. Well worked but in a wonderful, accomplished way! Will be going back… A lot!

I use classpass to workout and take yoga classes all over the DMV. Zweet Sport is without a doubt my favorite. All of the instructors are fantastic with Kimberly and Lindsey being my favorites. The room is always perfectly heated and I love that they play music during practice. Express is also a great class for those beginning Bikram. Love this place!

Zweet is hands down the best place I’ve ever practiced yoga or any other type of exercise. I kind of don’t want to write this review because I feel like it’s my secret I don’t want to share. But anyone who has ever done yoga, wants to do yoga, or just wants a good workout should check this place out. The instructors are warm and funny and know your name after you’ve been to one or two classes. They mix up the classes as much as possible and love when students try new things. I really just love it here — it’s somewhere I really look forward to going to whenever I have a class scheduled.

I do love this studio — warm (well hot) and inviting — teachers are excellent and caring. Environment is one of learning and not competitive. It is hot, but sweat is good! The classes are challenging, but all levels are encouraged and welcome… and modifications are given.

This place is, without a doubt, the best yoga school I have ever been to. Kimberly, the owner, calls it a school because everyone is there to learn, even the instructors. (She is also probably the most perfect human being on the planet, she’s the best!) Zweet feels more like a community where the instructors and students are friends. No one is judgmental. Everyone is at a different place in their practice whether you are a beginner that has never done yoga or a veteran that is competing in competitions.
The classes are challenging but fun. There is always a positive spirit to every class — funny anecdotes or comments that show students yoga doesn’t need to be serious. My favorite thing about Zweet is that the instructors get just as excited about your breakthroughs as you do! I recommend Zweet to everyone I know. Try a class, you can’t go wrong with any of the instructors.

THE BEST YOGA STUDIO YOU WILL EVER GO TO! After my one-​month new student package expired, I very quickly purchased an entire year membership and I intend on going to Zweet Sport for as long as I’m living in Alexandria. I have been practicing bikram for about 3 years but it wasn’t until I found Zweet Sport that I branched out and tried other hot yoga classes, including Hot Power Flow and Deep Heated Stretch & Tone. It’s great to have a variety of classes to pick from during the week. Zweet Sport is also the first yoga studio I’ve been to that has played music during the classes which makes each class even more enjoyable. The instructors also give out cool Lavender towels at the end of each class which is a fantastic addition to an already amazing experience. The instructors are extremely helpful and friendly and motivate you to become your best yogi self. Speaking from experience, if you drive past Zweet Sport and have the slightest sense of curiosity of what’s inside, DON’T BE AFRAID — joining Zweet Sport was the best decision I’ve made since moving to Alexandria last year.

Hands-​down the best yoga classes I’ve ever been to. All of the instructors are helpful and supportive, and the small size allows them to really get to know each individual student. They take the time to help each student improve their practice, and as owner Kimberly says, Zweet is a yoga «school,» not a studio — which I love. I’m still fairly new to yoga, and after a month of going 2 – 3 times a week, I already notice major changes in my flexibility. I’m so excited to attend their yoga retreat in Mexico this Spring, and can’t wait for them to expand in January!
EDIT: I can’t believe I almost forgot the lavender towels!!! After a hot, sweaty class, they come around and offer cold, damp lavender towels which smell amazing and help you not only to cool down, but you leave smelling like a beautiful flower (even if you don’t look like one).

Take your favorite hot yoga class and smush it with a Bikram class. Add an idie feel, amazing music, an instructor who teaches (not tells) while doing the class in a comfortable neighborhood studio. A gem to anyone who can make it here. Added benefit: the owner has her own yoga clothes line. The bras are perfect! (Especially for those with gifted chests) the pants are amazing. If you can’t get here, get em online! If I’m back in the area, you’ll fine me here again. Thanks Unilocal for the find! And, you’re welcome for those who come by :)

Get your sweat on ladies!!! And gents too — this yoga studio is AMAZING. God bless Zweet for taking my little non-​yogi body and molding it into an almost yogi body. I first started attending classes about a year and a half ago and I’ve gone from being afraid of yoga to wanting to go everyday — partly because of the instructors and partly because of how the yoga makes me feel (hint: REALLY GOOD).
Zweet offers a variety of classes — although my favorite is the Zweet Hot Express 26 — its the perfect amount of yoga to get my day started. They offer shower facilities too — so it makes it SO much easier to get my hot yoga on before work. Every instructor I have had takes the time to make sure that each person is comfortable and is coached to the best of their ability. I’ve come to realize if I trust my teacher, my body is capable of doing so much more than I thought it could.
They offer a pretty flexible schedule and the prices for yoga can’t be beat. They recently expanded and there is more room for yogis!
Side note: Their clothes are AMAZING. I can’t imagine doing hot yoga in anything besides their Jaco shorts. If you are into workout wear that isn’t just your typical leggings/​shirt — definitely check theirs out.

FANTASTIC. Favorite yoga studio, environment AND activewear clothing line ever. The studio is beautiful, full of happy feel-​good vibes from the students and the teachers. Good for beginners and super-​yogis (I deem myself somewhere in the middle of that). The teachers are AMAZING, their instruction is so helpful and personal. I have never left this place feeling anything short of on top of the world. Previously, I had steered clear of yoga cause I hadn’t found the balance between feeling like it wasn’t a good enough workout or sweating and panting in a hardcore Bikram class. Zweet IS that perfect balance! A few years ago my meathead self would not believe how excited it got to go to hot yoga, 3+ times a week!
If you are an athlete of any sort, I’d recommend checking out yoga here! Since practicing at Zweet I’ve noticed drastic improvements in every other part of my fitness. Dancing, running, lifting etc!
There is an emphasis on doing good things for your body and yourself here and it is so therapeutic and inspiring. Whether you are looking to improve, begin or simply find your yoga practice this is the place for you!
