Two Marines Moving

Two Marines moved me this past weekend and it was money well spent. The team was efficient, thorough, careful, yet moved at a good pace to complete the process. From the initial contact to the end, customer service was very professional and everyone had a nice demeanor over the phone and via email. We only had one challenge due to the move, but not company’s fault. I just had a very large sofa that unfortunately there was no way to pass through the door of a DC century old house small doorway/​gate. The team offered a disposal service for approximately $ 50.00, which was also money well spent because moving is already hard, but they took care of it, becoming one headache less trying to figure out what to do with the sofa. The great thing about this is that if the items being disposed are in good condition and re-​usable, it looks like the Veterans are allowed to keep them if they like, so the items given away for them to dispose may not necessarily go to waste. I would recommend hiring this company. It may appear to be a bit expensive, but for me it was worth it. Moving is a tough job to do, but the movers worked really hard with a great attitude, energy and a lot of efficiency.

Despite a mere 3 blocks from rental upon close of escrow, our crew was amazingly thorough & professional. King size mattress adjustable bed, as well as large dressers & furniture, down steep & narrow stairs, along with the basement & full garage. Heavy electric fireplace, antique tables & hutch. Wrapped & cushioned. Breakables hauled without any difficulty whatseoever. Phenomenal teamwork & communication. We would hire them again in a heartbeat & worth every penny!

My roommate and I moved in the beginning of December 2015. Based on previous moves with different moving companies in the area, we were very nervous and concerned about spending too much money for poor quality on the move. After hearing about Two Marines Moving from two different friends, we made our decision to book them. We are so beyond grateful that we did!
Before the Move: The movers sent confirmation e-​mails, phone calls, and moving tips before they even arrived.
Morning of the Move: Our movers came thirty minutes EARLY to begin with our move. All three gentleman were extremely professional and friendly! As soon as we signed the paper work, the gentleman got straight to work. They started out by wrapping every piece of furniture with one of their heavy duty blankets and then saran wrapping each piece to secure the blankets in place. They marked each piece of furniture with the designated name (either mine or my roommate’s), for an easy transition to the new place. Since we had packed many boxes before hand, they quickly packed everything into the truck. We didn’t have to lift a finger!
On the Move: Once we reached the new destination, the movers kept going! They placed a long rug down inside the new apartment so dirt would not get on the rugs. They seamlessly unpacked and arranged the furniture extremely efficiently. I was very impressed at how carefully yet quickly they unloaded the truck. Not a thing was broken or damaged– sigh of relief!
These men were on the go and professional from start to finish. There was no wasted time, which was very much appreciated. While they quoted us for five hours, they got the job done in three! I will absolutely use this company again for future moves and highly recommend them for anyone looking for a great moving experience!

I recently used TMM for a local move. Calling and scheduling the date for the movers to arrive was very simple; however, I was unable to book the move for a weekend day but during the work week and had to take vacation time. I went online to their website and completed their survey, documenting exactly how many boxes and furniture I had to move. Josh called to go over the fine details and provided a quote of over $ 1,000 for a 1 bedroom move with a truck and three movers, which, he said, is the minimum amount of movers they can provide on a move (I wanted to ask about the company’s name [Two Marines], but decided to not be a smartass). The team leader called me the day before and an hour before our scheduled meeting time. Three movers arrived right on time in this ginormous truck that could have hauled 10 apartments worth of stuff. The guys were super friendly and courteous and were, in fact, in the Marines and National Guard. The team leader walked me through the paperwork while the other two movers assessed my belongings. Everything was going great until I heard the tape dispenser (I was in the kitchen cleaning the fridge) so I looked out to find them wrapping every item of furniture with blankets, then plastic wrap, and then tape. And not just one go-​around but multiple. I couldn’t even see the furniture after they finished because there was so much shrink-​wrap and tape wrapped around each item.
Now I know that many people out there have super nice belongings that they don’t want damaged in a move. I’m so not one of them. My furniture is as old as Methuselah, it has been dinged up during the 500 other moves I’ve made, and consists mostly of Ikea particle board. Yes, I should have taken my sister’s advice and just gotten rid of it but I hate shopping and this move was already quoted as super expensive so I figured it would be a bit before I could afford some new (nicer) furniture. Plus, I needed SOMETHING in my new apartment.
When I realized my furniture was being converted into a shrink-​wrap cocoon, I asked them to please not worry about it and to just go ahead and move it as is. One of the movers was fine with this; however, the other two continued to wrap every item, explaining that it was company standard. I have to say that this process is what took the longest… I’m not kidding-​it took about 3 hours… and I really don’t have THAT much stuff. We finally got everything out of the apartment and on to the new apartment. Remember the giant truck I mentioned? Well, I just so happened to be moving from the suburbs to the city and that giant truck was a nightmare. I have no idea how the guys were able to back the truck up into my tiny alley and offload it, but they did. And then I saw the hustling.
You see, before I realized that a mountain of shrink-​wrap was being used to protect my worthless furniture, I was questioning to myself why on earth it was taking so long. Again, I’m serious when I say I don’t have much stuff, so it really should have only taken an hour max to load all of my items. The movers were moving but you could tell they were taking their sweet time… especially after one of them made the remark, «they quoted her that it would take 4 hours?! She is going to be pleasantly surprised because there is no way it will take us that long.» From there on out, it seemed like all 3 were moving through water to get my things into the truck. But, when they got to the new place, they were already approaching the 4 hour mark and did some serious hustling to offload everything as quickly as possible. Heavy boxes on top of boxes labeled ‘glass’ or ‘fragile,’ everything piled up in one room and pushed against the wall-​regardless of whether it said kitchen or bedroom, it all went into the living room; and the items that wouldn’t fit through the door were left on the patio even though rain was imminent. They quickly had me initial several forms and provide my credit card again. Then they all jumped back into the truck, one of them giving me a disgusted look, and left within 1 hour of arriving. I found out what the disgusted look was for… and I can’t say I blame him but really, how on earth would I know that you are supposed to tip?! I don’t know about you guys but I cannot recall a single move where I’ve tipped the movers (unless they did something out of this world). I only realized today that tips are «always appreciated» after I went back to their website and found it on an obscure webpage buried deep in their website.
So after all that… I would have to say that all in all, it was a pretty stress free move for me… super expensive but pretty much stress free. The movers were professional and made sure they finished in the quoted time-​frame and the total cost was actually a few bucks less than they quoted me. My furniture was DEFINITELY protected and now I have enough tape-​bound shrink-​wrap to last me for years.

Our move was in February (2015). I’m posting a delayed review because until recently, discussing our move brought up too many emotions. Even today, it’s an upsetting topic for my family.
1. To start, the crew arrived 1.25 hours late. The team leader called ahead though. Upon arrival, he was polite, clear with the estimate and reviewed the paperwork well.
2. When work began, the three man crew moved everything (except furniture) into our building’s common indoor/​outdoor hallway. This was concerning, as some of our boxes were still commercially labeled (i.e. tvs, kitchen aid mixer, electronics, etc) and therefore vulnerable to theft. As such, we felt obligated to start «standing guard» over the next several hours while our possessions were left essentially unattended.
3. As the move progressed, the team leader continued to show an excellent work ethic. If we had been lucky enough to receive three workers of his caliber, I’m sure our final outcome would have been different. Unfortunately, that was definitely not the case. The other two workers soon slowed their pace drastically and failed to understand how to load the truck. Despite our stuff being organized by size, the moving truck was loaded haphazardly, a problem that impacted us terribly during the unloading phase.
4. When the team did «finish» our move, they left us with disassembled furniture thrown about in a multitude of ways (i.e. drawers for one chest on top of a bookshelf, drawers for another stacked upside down in a different room), fragile boxes clearly labeled, but stacked under heavy boxes, and furniture pieces literally piled on top of each other upside down. The house quite literally looked like a tornado had hit.
5. Our poor cat eventually survived the move only because I refused to allow the various men access to a small walking path within a bedroom sleeping area. Otherwise we would have literally had nowhere for her to walk. It was traumatizing.
6. During the move, a worker set a box on top of our glass top stove, turning it on in the process, and starting a small fire. Again, the responsible team leader took charge, and with my wife’s help, put out the fire and saved what belongings they could from inside the box.
7. Except for the team leader, the marines were loud outside of our new home (between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.), using foul language and ignoring our requests to be quiet. They eventually referred to us a «lesbian bit**es», assuming we could not overhear them.
8. In the end, our estimated 5 – 6 hour move took 10.5 hours (from 1:00 p.m. To 11:33 p.m.) and six different marines, each working variable hours, making it impossible for anyone to determine an hourly rate at any given point and time. There was also an unexplained gap of time when the workers failed to show up at the new house after leaving the old one with our belongings.
9. Due to the chaos of our move, the volume of damage to our belongings, the utter disarray they left in our home upon their departure, and the difficulty of the billing situation, we disputed any and all charges associated with their moving services. The final arrangement with Two Marines was simple — we would not sue for damages, and they would not bill us for charges.
It’s sad to say that it took almost two months for us to reach an agreement with Two Marines over the exceptionally poor service we received. I made numerous phone calls, sent multiple emails, and yet it wasn’t until I sent several videos and photos of the disarray in our home that I finally received a response. I still believe in our case, a word from the CEO would have been appropriate. That particular response never came, despite the letters I sent to him and his ex-​wife.

These guys were very prosessional and honest. At first I thought they were expensive, but after seeing how they work I think they were worth every penny I paid!
What I liked most they were all military guys! We had a 600 lbs table worth over 8k that was successfully moved by the 4 man team. They came in way below the estimate that was quoted. They are also very honest about starting and stopping the clock. They stop the clock 15 minutes earlier than I calculated. When u have 4 guys at 79 bucks a hour 15 minutes makes a difference.

This review is for my move back in April 2015. I was moving from Maryland to Virginia and needed a reliable company to help move my large pieces of furniture (I had already moved everything else myself). A friend recommended Two Marines Moving and I was incredibly happy with their service!
They arrived a few minutes early, were dressed professionally (clean attire, shirts tucked in, etc.) and were so very polite. The most impressive thing was their attention to detail (wrapping up my furniture to prevent damage in transit) while still being extremely fast and efficient. They charge by every 10 minutes per hour, which is really nice and can help save you some money. Lots of other places round up an hour.
I have recommended them to other friends in the area who are doing a local move and will definitely use their services for the next time I move!

It was a great experience. They moved me from a storage unit in Leesburg to a townhouse in Arlington. They got lost for about 10 minute and knocked off about 30 minutes of my time for the «trouble» but honestly we were trying to get in and move things out of their way while we waited. They also put my bed frame together for me off the clock. I would and have recommended them to friends.

I was incredibly impressed with the professionalism and efficiency of Two Marines Moving. They called and sent all the info I needed to know in advance, and then called the morning of the move to let me know when they were coming — arriving exactly on time. Crew of three with one truck that was plenty big for all of my stuff.
I had a tricky hallway and a narrow loading dock, but neither slowed them down, and the move was completed in just over half the time I was expecting. I rented plastic moving boxes which they really appreciated because they’re sturdy and easy to move, and they gave me a choice of how I wanted to wrap my furniture in the truck. I chose the quickest option because my stuff is all particleboard anyway. At the new place, they set everything exactly where I asked. They were cheerful and polite and I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks for making a stressful experience much LESS stressful!

I work with Marines and the military everyday so when it came to finding a moving company I knew where I wanted to start looking. I emailed for a quote for our 1 bedroom apartment and received a reply within 24 hours. We booked a move for a Wednesday toward the middle of the month and then we waited. My husband and I went back and forth on whether or not we would have boxes for them to move in addition to the furniture. I literally had no idea until morning of the move as we stayed up late packing.
The morning of the move, the Team Leader called me when they were on their way from Alexandria to my place in Silver Spring. In true military fashion they were military on time — which for everyone else means 15 minutes early. They quickly assessed what needed to be moved, while I did some paperwork with the team leader. They disassembled some pieces, namely a bookcase, a table, and a display case. They were packaged with care and carried out. I had failed to ask for a large picture box in advance but they were able to wrap it in a blanket and secure it without damage for the move.
Since we moved into the apartment over 5 years ago, the apartment complex made changes to the hallways and the elevators which posed challenges for the team in removing our couches. (Something I hadn’t even really thought about in advance). They worked hard to move everything with no damage, including some inexpensive items from Ikea (which are basically sawdust glued together) — which they accomplished. At the new place, they rebuilt everything they took apart as good as new.
My mother who had come from NJ to help us move was so impressed that she asked if Two Marines Moving was available there and was upset they weren’t. Definitely recommend.

I was very satisfied with all of my dealings with Two Marines Moving. From the first time I called for an estimate, to scheduling, to following up with email and phone confirmations as the date drew nearer, to the actual move, everyone I talked to was friendly, knowledgeable, and polite. I appreciated that from the first estimate, which was part of why I selected this company over others. My move was smooth except for the fact that I had underestimated the walk to the truck and how many boxes I would have in the end. Because of this, they went over the time estimate, and it was more expensive than I had hoped. Everything was handled well with no damage, so overall I would say it was a success and worth the money!

I finally received the $ 100 that I was promised. Props for eventually (almost a year later) doing what you say you’re going to do, but honestly, too little, too late. I could have cared less about the $ 100, but the customer service, at least when I used them, was pretty much abysmal. I’d just as soon dive head first into my own vomit then use them again.

What a superb moving company with down to earth, hard working employees. Keep up the great work!

Nick… thank you for your response I suppose (more than a year later). At the time of our move we worked with/​spoke to your VP/​partner Christy who was less than helpful (understatement!!)…you were even copied on all correspondence but you never responded. She was rude and even continued to deny that we had an appointment to receive an estimate even when we forwarded her the confirmation email that we received. To be clear, your company stood us up for the estimate appointments (3 to be exact). So my review is correct and accurate and will not be removed.

This is what I called moving! They gave me an over the phone estimate to move 40+ boxes and a handful of furniture. The dispatcher told me that the movers will be there at 8am. The movers called me at 7:30am to inform me that they were on the way and they arrive a little before 8am. (Mind blown)
Then the two ex-​marines (I asked) then proceeded to move my boxes and stack them into their van in record time. They were hustling. I was so impressed I tipped! Then they delivers the boxes and misc items to my parents’ basement without delay. When I went the next day to check it out the boxes and misc items were neatly stacked and placed in the basement. I was totally impressed with these guys!

My husband is a Marine and when I needed something moved while he was away, it just made sense to contact Two Marines first. As a spouse home with several young children I am always hesitant to have people I don’t know in my home. The two men who came to my home were professional, polite and sweet to my kids. They went above and beyond.
My job was only moving a treadmill to my basement, but I am grateful they even took the job. I was worried it was too small of a job. And while here are minimum charges, magical makes sense, they were fast and efficient. Would definitely hire them again.

As a veteran myself, I chose Two Marines Moving without any hesitation. I called and talked to Josh for about 20 minutes to let him know what I have, where I was and where I was going. He followed up with an email that afternoon explaining price, insurance, etc. I was pleasantly surprised at the estimate and confirmed my date. He was most accommodating when I had to change my move date. He again followed up with another email. They followed up with a phone call the day before confirming and asking if there were any changes.
Steven and ‘Ninja’ called that morning on their way. Totally professional from the minute they arrived to the moment they left. I have never experienced such courteous, funny, professional and dedicated individuals in my life!
They didn’t even question me when I forgot to include some artwork in my initial call to Josh. (Oops! Duh!)
I cannot recommend this company enough! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

This is my second time using this service. The first time it was a furniture only move and no sofas just some bookshelves, entertainment center and my beloved king size bed. The move was super efficient and was affordable. I just moved again about 2 years later now I have 50+ boxes, two sofas and all furniture. It was estimated to be a 6 hour move with 3 guys at 1,500 it’s pricey, but I feel it’s worth it. They come in, the dudes were freaking awesome, nice, funny, sweet, just all around cool freaking guys. They helped me when my cat tried to make a run for the door and you just can’t expect service like this these days. They barely ever rested except when my spouse brought all of us slurpees but they only drank for a minute hence why they all got brain freezes. Still it was non-​stop, clean and efficient. They went under the estimate so it came to 1390 it would have been less but I paid for the 195 (best) insurance.
Dear owner, your people (from dude who gives estimate, dude who calls back to dudes who moved me) are INCREDIBLE. I hope you are treating them well and paying them top dollar, our veterans deserve nothing less. I love this service for the employees and I will continue being a customer for my moves.

Very professional and were focused on the mission: have a successful, quick, efficient move. They had excellent communication skills too. If you ask them to wrap your stuff, they come with an endless supply of moving wrap and blankets to wrap your valuables. I really appreciated that. I would recommend this service. I’ve heard too many horror stories about moving companies, and I would trust this company. The prices are reasonable for the area, and if you’re expecting a short move, this may be the company for you since their minimum is only 2 hours. Also they charge by 10-​minute increments which is nice. The time begins from starting your move, driving to your location, and finishes after they unload all your stuff at your new location.
If you want a headache-​free experience, hire them, they come and use their trucks, and let them take care of the rest.

I have not used Two Marines Moving. However, based on the customer service I experienced with one set of movers, I will not use them for my next move.
I was leaving my garage to exit my apartment community. Thank goodness, I wasn’t in a hurry! A Two Marines Moving van had pulled up parallel to another moving van (which had been there for a while) and blocked the road entirely. Approximately one-​third of my apartment community was prevented from exiting because of this. (Note — one moving van in the road curtails traffic but does not completely block it.)
When I asked the guys from Two Marines Moving about why they parked there, knowing they were blocking the roadway (and if it wasn’t evident to them then there is a larger problem), they dismissed me with the statement that the first moving truck would be leaving in 5 minutes. First of all, how is fully blocking any road for 5 minutes ok? Second, it wasn’t 5 minutes. It was closer to 20 minutes and would have been longer had I not gone to the manager’s office and had them force one of the trucks to move.
The guys from Two Marines Moving could have cared less about the inconvenience they created. This is too bad because they lost at least one potential future customer (me) and, believe me, I will be discouraging all of my friends from using this moving company as well.
The head guy was lucky I did not call the police when he said «you have a nice day, ma’am» which is basically the equivalent of telling me to f– off. By that time, the other moving van had left and I was able to get out of the community.
If this is the way Two Marines Moving conducts business then they have no reason to be in business.
