In the spring on 2013, I changed my own oil in my 2006 Saturn Ion and drove from Cleveland to the DC area. The engine was temp was a bit higher than normal, but I made it to my hotel in Alexandria. Normally I do my own repairs, but with no garage I took my car to Tony’s first thing in the morning, which was walking distance from my hotel.
I got a call a few hours later and was told the following (1) I was low on oil because my oil cap failed and needed replacement and (2) I needed a new radiator. Total estimated cost was $ 900 plus. I balked at the cost and was told «I don’t get a commission here», which I presume is the standard line.
It occurred to me that when I changed my oil at home I did not install the O-​ring on the cap as I previously did and that’s what caused my oil leak, not «cap failure» and that low oil would also explain a hot engine. The Tony’s rep would have none that and expressed concern that I would drive back to Ohio without the unnecessary $ 900 repair. The only repair I accepted was a rather costly oil top-​off. Picking up the vehicle was a bit comical, as it was parked on the street and the attendant did not seem to know exactly where.
The Tony’s tech apparently positioned the oil O-​ring properly because I experienced no more oil leakage or elevated engine temperature. I drove the car home to Ohio without incident and my engine temp at the usual mark. Almost 3 years and 30,000+ miles later, I still have the same oil fill cap and radiator and have not had a single instance of overheating.
Beware! Tony’s made faulty or fraudulent diagnosis and wanted to perform costly and unnecessary repairs.

Took our 10 year old Lexus with 108 000 miles to them based on recommendations. Cars ride was rough and it felt like brakes had issues. Determined that tires contributed to rough ride and needed to be replaced. I had no issue and had them replace all tires. The next day one was flat and another low. Turns out they did not install valve stems properly and air was leaking. Sounds like a basic thing to check. The rims also had scrapes and black dirt all the way around. Fingerprints and grease covered the rims. They say scrapes are from hitting curbs but I do not believe that this accounts for all scrapes. One employee agreed with me. Cleaning the rims prior to returning the vehicle should be standard too, but they deal mostly with fleet vehicles so the drivers probably don’t sweat the details. The money is not coming out of their pocket! Also not convinced that the brakes were bled so I need to take car to dealership to confirm. I won’t be taking other cars to them in the future.

Took my Toyota mini van to Tony for 10 years. Probably would have kept going if I hadn’t had an accident and the collision guy told me my mechanic had secured my power steering box with a ZIP TIE. That certainly explained why my car shook when taking long sharp turns. But it doesn’t explain why Tony’s said they didn’t know why I was having problems with those long sharp turns. Also the last time I was in for inspection a mechanic kept asking Tony — in front of me — which reason should he give for flunking my inspection? Tony tried to shush the guy and I passed inspection. Never going back.

I have my car towed to this shop since it was the closest. I described the symptom and ask them to particular check the battery and alternator. The battery was only 3 days old. They claim my battery was low but the alternator was fine. I asked them to make sure several time. Each time they assured me everything was up to spec. I took my car out and it die on me after about 7 miles driving.
I bought the car to another repair shop a day later. The alternator only put out 10.7 volts, which is more than 3 volts below spec. this is the reason why my car did not charge the battery. How it is possible for them to find nothing wrong while all the symptoms were there?
They either miss-​diagnostic or did not even check the alternator or try to determine what when was wrong with the car. Either case, this is this shop just want to have my money for not perform the needed task.
Stay away from them!

OUTSTANDING SERVICE! WONDERFUL STAFF.
I first went to Tony’s in 2013 and they did an amazing job, fixing my car. Their prices were better than other places I talked to, and they didn’t try to sell me on things I didn’t need. I’ve since moved across town and earlier this year went to a dealership for repair work instead of Tony’s. What a mistake! I was asked to buy parts that didn’t even belong in my car, and frankly I didn’t know better. I had a gut-​feeling something was off so I brought my car back to Tony’s and they told me what was really wrong (which saved me from wasting nearly $ 2k!) and had me out the door in a few hours.
They don’t take appointments, and it’s first come, first serve but their process works well. Rest assured I won’t be taking my car anywhere else!
Their team and the service is simply outstanding!

We went to a Chev dealer that told us we needed all kinds of work done almost $ 2000 of work to fix our truck. We went in to Tony’s and spoke with Mike! I explained everything to Mike and he told me let us take a look at the truck. They fixed the problem for $ 600. All of the other work that the dealer said needed to be done was not true!!! Dealers are a ripe off! Tony’s stood behind there work when the part was defective and replaced it again with no problem! Mike was very helpful and great customer service. People please remember they are a good shop, so it may take a little longer, but at least they do a good job and stand behind there work!

Beware!!! no start something killing battery
I orginally called Brahham Electric cause i was having issues with my food truck starting so friendly guy referred me to Tony’s like I was tired of going with local mechanics thinking a certified would be more but would get job done.
I towed my truck in person greeted me on May 1 correct inform me they were back up and would call by Monday well waited till mid evening no call!
I called was inform battery dead mechanic was working on it left went home for day call back tuesday by 8 OK!!! So i explained to him that i needed to get truck up cause i need to go through my inspection through arlington co he tells me yea yea we realize your losing money im like whaaat. Ok i was nice said thank you holding it all in.
wednesday morning I ask to speak to manager Scott gets on phone i tell him about issue he tells me his mechanic is working on it looks like it needs a distributor was rusted out so I ask him would this fix issue w no start. He says well thats the first thing and it will be 491.00 i kindly ask if he could break that down and explain what i was paying for and most mechanic inform you of all issues and then gives you a break down he and he tells me well mam if you want YOU CAN COME PAY FOR THIS $ 491.00 AND HAVE IT TOWED OUT FROM HERE.
I kindly inform him that was not the way to speak to any customer im a local business owner Margaret’s Soul Food & Catering Arlington Va a hard working single mom who struggles yet maintain because I put my trust in GOD.
He tell me he will call me back and says they found another issue trying to fix it.
Next morning i visit Wednesday and was told would have it completed by 12:00(not)
Called inform 2 relays bad total $ 947.77 for everything
Labor $ 637.45 whaaaat
You would think with that my food truck would be running excellent oh no like crap!
After paying that kind of money $ 947.77 and Scott with his rude self.
Told me i needed another part and guy was out in California no one would have it cause ford didn’t make it anymore (emission tubes & divertor values) only thing i will say is he wrote part down i located it on line and ordered it.
For every single mom out here struggling beware this is not the place to go to I work hard in a hot kitchen not to just give my money away. Food truck still not running after giving up near $ 1000. Could had been my food start up money. I borrowed money to pay these people so sad but this is all true.

Friendly staff but very slow service. 90+ minutes for an oil change… Need I say more?
Just don’t plan on sticking around waiting for your car, come back later.

Not only does Tony’s have the best customer service (everyone is always so helpful and courteous, and Mike at the front desk walks me out to my car if I pick it up after sundown), but also it’s convenient to drop off my car on my way to work, since the Braddock Road Metro stop is just 2 or 3 blocks away, and then pick it up on my way home. I get all my oil changes and safety/​emissions inspections performed here!

Went here for a state inspection yesterday. Everyone was so pleasant, and friendly. I would definitely go back for any needed repairs.

My second trip to Tony’s since moving to the DMV was for a brake job and power steering issues… these things happen when you drive a 10-​year-​old car… but I digress.
I was once again impressed with the courtesy, speed and professionalism of everyone I interacted with, both in person at the shop and on the telephone. The price was fair and I got my car back the very next morning. One thing to note is that Tony’s is a short walk from Braddock Rd. Metro, which for me is a huge plus. It means that I can drop my car off when they open at 7am and still make it to work before just about anyone else.
People who have problems with the cost are probably misinformed on the normal price of parts and labor at a professional mechanic. Tony’s isn’t a Pep Boys or some other discount shop, so you may be able to save money going to some place else, but their prices are fair and the work is good. Well worth the peace of mind.
In short: Tony’s is super convenient, professional, friendly, reasonably priced and highly recommended.

These people are criminals. They have found new and creative ways too bleed me for every penny I have. And after they have screwed me so bad, they have done nothing as a courtesy to even attempt to help me or retain me as a customer. DO NOT USE TONYS

Similarly to Felecia W., I trusted the Unilocal and AAA reviews of Tony’s, but left disappointed. My first experience at the shop was fine– my car was having trouble starting, so I dropped it off at Tony’s on my way to work for a diagnosis. Ed called and said they couldn’t find anything wrong, but suspected that the starter was going bad. I was pleasantly surprised that they were being honest and didn’t just tell me I needed work done that I didn’t.
The 2 star rating comes from my second time at the shop. I dropped my Jeep off at Tony’s for my safety and emissions tests. Got a call saying that my car failed because the fog lights were bad and that it’d either cost $ 400 to «replace all of the wiring» or one hour of work, which costs approximately $ 100, to just remove the fog lights from my car. I called a few other shops who all said that 1. very rarely do you ever have to replace «ALL» of the wiring in cars and 2. that it definitely wouldn’t take one hour to unscrew the lights from underneath the bumper.
I picked up my car, paid the inspection fees, and took my car to another shop right down the road who charged me for less than half hour of work to remove the lights. Moral of the story, there are better shops around the area who are willing to be much more reasonable than the folks at Tony’s.

I was so impressed with the service at Tony’s! Jerry and Mike provided absolute great service for me and at a better price then many places I had called for service. They called me to let me know if something else was needed and the exact price it would cost. I would recommend them to family and friends and go back for other auto needs.

My husband and I live in the neighborhood and have had several good experiences here. Our first time here, we had just taken our car elsewhere and were told that we needed over $ 3,000 worth of work. We took it to Tony’s for a second opinion and they were more candid about the two repairs that absolutely needed to be performed, which totaled just under $ 1,000.
On another occasion, we came here in a semi-​urgent state. It was snowing and we were out of wiper fluid. Seems like a minor problem, but this caused dirt and snow to freeze all over our windshield, we could not see, and we had little time. Tony’s fixed our wiper issues ASAP and had us on our way.
What’s even more impressive about this instance is that their mechanics get off at 5pm. We pulled in around 4:45 and the desk person inside told us we would probably have to come back the next day. The desk person had not seen the car. A mechanic (Mo or Mohammed I believe) who was outside saw how bad our winshield was and that the car was essentially undriveable in that weather. Mohammed said he would take care of us that day and stayed until our issue was resolved.
This is a great establishment with dedicated employees and fair prices.

Checked it out b’c of all the positive reviews. Needed brake pads and rotors all around. After getting the full fool’s treatment elsewhere (me being a young woman without much auto experience), this place cut to the chase, double-​checked if they could resurface my rotors to avoid having to replace them, then called around for the best deal on pads. It’s too bad I’m moving-I’d keep coming back.

I will never take my vehicle to Tony’s again. I trusted the reviews of Tony’s on Unilocal (and AAA) and unfortunately it ended up costing me.
OVERPRICED — My first trip to Tony’s — I had a leaky hose, easy repair, but considering I don’t have a garage to do the work myself (like most people in the area) I took it to Tony’s to fix the leak and conduct a routine maintenance check. To my surprise, while fixing the hose, their mechanics found a number of things «in need of repair» — my power steering, brakes, O2 sensors, air bag sensors. the list goes on. I trusted the reviews, and hoped the work would be done right. I paid the $ 1100.00 repair bill for ONLY power steering and brake repair, and ended up do the rest of the repair work (another $ 1000+) myself for $ 115.00
UNSAFE — When I got the car back, the mechanics failed to bleed my brakes. Which meant the first stop I attempted to make nearly didn’t happen and I landed in the middle of on coming traffic. Obviously, I returned the car to have the brakes worked on again, at no cost, gee thanks.
CROOKED– Again, I took my car to Tony’s for AC repair. As a returning customer I thought perhaps Tony’s would inspect the vehicle and could be trusted. WRONG. I was told a laundry list of problems, with a repair total of $ 1200.00 (for a $ 300.00 part). Their explanation was full of blatant lies. And after not agreeing to their repairs I was charged $ 100.00 for them to «repair» things I never consented to.

Okie, I –USED– to a fan. No more. Anytime someone tells me that they are going to charge me $ 660 for a (just) replacing/​changing an alternator — and previously have told me I need struts — when I don’t — then sorry — you will loose my business. I had trusted Tony’s in the past, and I am not sure what has happened since.
My wife had gotten a estimate beforehand for the alternator, and they said $ 520 — so how it went from $ 520 to $ 660, overnight — neither of us understand why. I could understand a 10−15% error, but 30%? And no, it wasn’t that they were doing a new vs remanufactured. The part on the internet for a BOSCH replacement was only $ 165. Even at 2 hours of labor at $ 50/​hour — you still only get $ 260 – 300.
Bottom Line: Was a fan, but fan no more. Get estimates in writing before they start any work, and be wary of any «late additional charges.»
[UPDATE: I found someone to put in a NEW alternator for $ 400.]

I walked in and immediately saw that Tony’s is a certified Maserati repair shop, as well as a US Secret Service commendation for fine work. I think if both Maserati and President Bush were pleased enough with their work, that Tony’s would be fine for my Toyota.
My car had a weird vibrating/​metal sound coming from the rear. I feared for the worst and though I’d need a new transmission. An associate at Secret Service recommended I go to Tony’s who specializes in Toyotas. Tony’s quickly diagnosed it as only a loose exhaust heat shield. They diagnosed, fixed and road tested it in apparently under .6 hrs, as that was all I was charged for. What a fantastic deal, especially when some garages would have just rebuilt the transmission to collect 2 grand from me.
Tony’s is also conveniently a block away from the Braddock Rd Metro, meaning I could drop off the car on Friday evening and Metro home. The only downside to Tony’s is that they are closed on weekends so I dropped my car off on Friday evening but they didn’t begin work on it until Monday morning. Whatever, for their honesty and good work, I’ll be a repeat customer.
