The Little Monogram Shop

I’m still shaken by how poorly I was treated. After picking up my new embroidered piece, I noticed a 1 – 2 inch pencil mark marring my brand new tote. While the monogram itself was beautiful, when I pointed out the mark, and that the staff uses pencil when taking orders, I received a snippy retort about how the mark must have been caused by me. My concerns were dismissed and I felt disparaged for even bringing it up. The employee was rude and unprofessional and accused me of making a scene. I.was.mortified. I left the shop feeling sad, and with a marred tote. The owner called the next day, but was not apologetic or empathetic; she only extolled the virtues of the employee who chastised me. I really wanted to like this cute shop — but had a terribly unpleasant experience!

Panic… what to get a special man than says I care and love new cell things and looks fab… monogrammed shirts:-) Best things ever going in. I walked in clueless and got the BEST… yes BEST help ever. No pretense over delivery and for such great work I expected to pay more. This place is a gem and I will be using their services again.

Great little shop. Has tons of different options that can be special ordered. Employees are extremely helpful with helping selecting gifts for certain occasions.

Need a gift? This is the place to go. They have gift items in here that I’ve never seen before. And, you can personalize it! They even do fraternity and sorority stuff– which would have been nice for me while I was in college! Great place and absolutely wonderful service.

I love this little shop! Being from the South, we monogram everything (I don’t know why), so this was a major find for me. Whenever I can’t find a gift for someone, I know I can head here and find an inexpensive yet personalized gift– notepads, cute bags, tumblers, etc. I was so at a loss last year as to what to bring to a 3 year-old’s birthday party– I don’t spend much time with her and didn’t know what toys to get, etc. and didn’t want to just buy some junk (parents, you know what I’m talking about) — I bought an adorable purse with her name on it that she can grow into but for now uses to carry her toys around! Perfect!

I have never ever been treated so poorly and rudely by a proprietress. After spending an hour in traffic on my way to Alexandria to drop off a monogramming project, I arrived with minutes to spare in front of the store. However, it was all closed up, lights out, and no one answering when I knocked. While stewing outside, the owner came to the door. «Great!» I thought, «she heard me knocking and is going to let me in!» I reminded her that I’d called earlier in the week, and that we’d agreed that I’d come by to drop off the gift for monogramming that evening. She rudely barked at me, «You’ve got five minutes, I’ve got an appointment.» Startled, I followed her inside. The door didn’t close completely behind me, and she ordered, «Close that door. I don’t want anyone else coming in here.» At that point, had I not been in a bind to get this gift to my friend on time, I would have given the woman a piece of my mind and left. However, I bit my lip, as she continued to huff and be all sorts of judgy about the gift I wanted made for my friend– «this is going to be VERY expensive,» (it turned out to be $ 48). «Most of my clients do it THAT way.» At the end of the day, the gift ended up looking great, but it certainly wasn’t worth the feeling of being treated like complete and utter crap by this store owner.

LMS is one of my favorite places in the area! Tara and Megan, the store owners, are so very friendly and do excellent work. I’ve gotten countless gifts here (some of the monogrammed variety and some not) and I’ve been more than pleased with the final product. If you’re looking for something personalized, fun and charming, this is definitely the place to go. A great stop if you’re shopping in Old Town!

I just recently discovered this shop while walking around Old Town Alexandria. What a great find! The shop is tiny (the owner told me it is 8 feet wide) but has a great selection of clothing, accessories, child and baby gifts — and the majority of it, as you might have guessed, can be personalized. I brought in a baby quilt to be monogrammed and ended up purchasing a baby bib to be personalized as well. They completed the job exactly when they said they would and both items looked perfect. I will definitely be purchasing more gifts here in the future– for babies, friends, and myself, of course!
