The Fairy Dogmom

Katie and her fairies (especially Lynda) are the best! I did a lot of research to find a walker for my 10 week old pup… that was almost 2 years ago! We started with two puppy breaks a day and gradually worked into one regular walk a day. He’s high energy and no matter who was walking him they handled him well. It was so great to know that he was being walked by a great walker while I was at work, not to mention coming home to a note about his day. Not too mention her prices are pretty competitive for the area.

I was in a bind and needed a regular dog walker for my crazy old lab on the fly right before Thanksgiving. Katie came to my rescue and the rest is history. Lynda has been wonderful and the notes she leaves every day make me feel like a proud mom reading a child’s report card. Katie is incredibly responsive and very flexible with my schedule. So glad I found The Fairy Dogmom– I would recommend to anyone with absolutely no hesitation.

I’ve been meaning to write another review for quite some now (my last one being from Nov. 2012). Around April of this year, we learned that the Fairy that was regularly walking my little guy found a different profession — that was the saddest day for us! Katie, the Fairy Dogmom, had been accommodating us because we were longtime clients since her beginning days and because she loved my little bear. I may seriously have to consider moving back into the Fairy Dogmom zone of service because it’s terribly difficult to find a dog-​walking service as excellent as hers. Katie loves the four-​legged clients, is as sweetie as pie, and is extremely responsive and efficient (she was answering emails and still coordinating through both her periods of child labor, or at least, not missing much time at all). I have tried another dog-​walking service (Raining Cats and Dogs) out of necessity and that was overall a «miss» sadly to report. I miss Katie and her Fairies! One of her Fairies, Sara, is one of the kindest and most attentive people I’ve ever met. She is still our Fairy for when we need to leave our little guy with someone. I get updates of how he’s doing and I know he is in great hands! We miss you Katie and Sara!

Katie and her team of merry fairies are the best! The Fairy Dogmom came highly recommended from a neighbor but sadly all of the fairies were booked at the time. I tried another service based on Unilocal reviews but they couldn’t seem to keep walkers so my daily person continuously changed and 8 people or so had access to my house in less than 2 months (between new «permanent» walkers and substitutes). This is just NOT the case with the fairies. In the almost year that I have been using the Fairy Dogmom’s services, only 3 other people have accessed my home. Lynda, my daily walker, has only needed a sub a couple of times. I can’t thank them enough for consistency — for my own peace of mind and my dog’s! Lynda is simply the best, and I know from the few times that I’ve worked from home and not cancelled the walks that my dog loves her almost as much she loves me. Lynda works on leash manners, leaves pleasant notes about the day’s walk, and gives me notice if something is up with the pups (like grass eating or other stomach issues).
Katie is also super easy to work with. Scheduling is never a problem, a simple email suffices. Katie always responds in a timely manner and is great with getting messages to the walkers. Billing is easy and is done online.
There are several other dog-​walking services to choose from in the area but you’re not getting the best if you aren’t using The Fairy Dogmom!

One of the hardest things about moving away from Alexandria — losing Katie and her ‘Fairies’!!! Working with the Fairy Dogmom has been a wonderful experience. Katie is quick to respond and flexible, which is very helpful with an inconsistent telework schedule :)
I have had a couple different Fairies during our time here and each one was very polite, communicative, caring and attentive. I have a nervous little yorkie, so leaving him with anyone can be worrisome — but I always felt Katie and her team took great care of my little guy and helped ease my worry with wonderful daily notes :) Katie also offers overnights, schedules permitting. We used this service as well — went very smoothly. I knew I didn’t have anything to worry about and again the communication during our time away was comforting.

Katie and her merry band of Fairies have been SO amazing during our 2-​year stay in Old Town. From the beginning, she was very responsive, energetic and professional, which gave me peace of mind, especially being new to the neighborhood. We’ve been very impressed with Katie and our interaction with her is always positive and smooth.
The «Fairies» are the BEST; they have taken such good care of our dog, Sammie, for the past two years. I loved coming home and reading about the things they did while on their walk — and being that both my husband and I work full-​time, we rested assured that Sammie was in good hands.
Overall, such a good experience for the past 2 years — unfortunately, we’re moving out of Old Town, but we will all miss Katie and Anne, who have been great to work with. If you’re looking for reliability, professionalism, and overall great care for your dog, you won’t find better than the Fairy Dogmom.

Moving away from Alexandria has shown me how wonderful Katie and our walker Anne were. It is REALLY difficult to find someone who loves your dog like you to do walk them while you are at work. Katie is extremely professional and sweet, and Anne was clearly as in love with my dog as he was with her. My pup and I both miss them!

These guys are amazing, seriously. I am so thankful to have found them. I moved from AZ to VA about two years ago and I had searched for a reliable dog walker service. Two companies later, I found the Fairy Dogmom through a coworker at my job. They have been so good, patient and attentive with my spoiled little yorkie. Katie is so good at communicating and they make things easy for busy dog owners. I cannot say enough good things about this business. They are extremely professional and courteous.

Simply the best! I tried two other dog walking companies before finding The Fairy Dogmom. Katie and her «fairies» provide top-​notch care and service. My Molly loves her walker, Ariel, who is kind and compassionate. Her love for dogs truly shows – it’s not just a «job.» Molly is a rescue with a lot of emotional scars – often fearful of people – but she is a happy, tail-​wagging dog with Ariel. I am so thankful for the outstanding care she gives Molly.

I have a 10 month old Bernese Mtn Dog and have never needed a walker until I moved to Old Town Alexandria where a yard and doggie door is nonexistent in my condominium. Having reviewed several walkers in the area I decided to give the FDM a shot.
Katie (owner) met with me and my dog for an initial consultation and she hit it off with us from the start. My pup and neighbors have been happy since. The FDM dedicates one walker to each dog. My walker is Kristen and she has been great. She caters to my pups habits and specific needs seeing as how each dog is different. I get daily notes about how my pup did on the walk. Kristen even noticed a slight eye infection forming and brought it to my attention which the vet confirmed and treated.
The girls at FDM have been outgoing, accommodating and caring. Communicating via email, text and phone. I highly recommend The Fairy Dogmom if you’re looking for local service you can trust with your home and special member of your family. They have been there for my pet on holidays, when it’s raining and even going as far as last minute requests on the day of.

I can’t say enough about Katie Wright. My dog, Millie, is 100% deaf and partially blind. She’s a rescue and is very shy around new people.
Katie has had so much patience with her, and I’ve noticed a huge change in Millie’s behavior around people. She has become much more comfortable and much more social. Katie has even kept Millie a few times while my husband and I were traveling, and I trust her completely.
She leaves detailed notes about her walks and sends me pictures of Millie. She has also recentlybeen checking on my cat who has been sick, just because she knew he needed some extra TLC.
Katie is a wonderful person with a huge heart and has been such a blessing in our lives. I couldn’t be more pleased.

Oh my gosh, I am SO THANKFUL I found Katie Wright. (Through my wedding planner — random.) There is no kinder, more reliable, or more professional dog walker/​petsitter in the DC area.
Katie used to work in advertising, but voluntarily left the 9-​to-​5 world for her dream job– taking care of dogs. Her sheer love for what she’s doing is obvious, and she combines it with awesome communication and attention to detail. When my Charlie is with her, she sends pix messages of him playing with her adorable bulldog, Walter; she makes sure he’s happy and comfortable all day; and she’s always patient when I’m late to pick him up or drop him off, which I inevitably am, aaah.
My pups is a snuggly, morose little guy. He loves being around people he knows, has trouble warming up to new friends, and can’t stand being alone for very long. Even so, his tail starts wagging off the chart when he realizes we’re at Katie’s house. («Go see Walter??» now gets the same excited response as «want some cheese??» or «go to dog park??»)
I, like my puppy, am a worrywort and obsess about making sure he’s safe at all times, but with Katie I have total peace of mind.
All that, and she’s affordable too.

I cannot say enough good things about Katie Wright, owner of The Fairy Dogmom. She is a professional and thoughtful business woman who pays attention to the details. She walks my dog Yogi daily and will send me pictures of the two of them playing at the park and leave detailed notes after every visit. She understands that Yogi is like my child and she is accomodating to every quirky request I might have. . she does deliver on all counts! I have tried 2 other dog walking services in Old Town and The Fairy Dogmom is the best by far. I highly recommend her services!

Katie is absolutely incredible! We found her on Craigslist and we couldn’t be happier. Our two pups are part of our family and I was nervous about leaving them with someone new when we were out of town – but as soon as I met Katie, I knew it would be a good fit. Katie is very warm and welcomes my dogs into her home as if they were her own. She sends me pictures of them while I am gone and leaves me a note telling me about their visit when I come home. I wholeheartedly recommend The Fairy Dogmom for watching or walking your dog.

I can’t speak highly enough of Katie Wright, the owner and chief pup sitter behind the Fairy Dogmom. She is incredibly responsive and conscientious in addition to being one of the warmest people you’ll ever meet. She is a genuine dog lover through and through, and she goes the extra mile to make sure our greyhound Moby is happy and comfortable in her care. From the first email exchange to the initial visit, I knew right away that our girl would be in capable, kind hands anytime we left town. Moby returns home tired and happy from lots of long walks and playing with Katie’s adorable English bulldog Walter. We have the peace of mind that comes with knowing she’s safe and happy, which is priceless. I have already recommended the Fairy Dogmom to friends with dogs, and have no reservations about recommending her to anyone in search of top notch dog care.
