Sur La Table

Love this place. They always have the coolest and latest cookware and bakeware. Today Rachel helped me check out. She was very polite and friendly. Most of the people, if not all that work at any of the locations I’ve been to, are very personable.
Customer service is important when the products are pricey. You want to feel like your purchase was worth the money you spent.
I get all my aprons from here. They are usually 30% off. Can’t beat that. I get to save coin and look cute in the process.
I’ve been here so much, I don’t even need the GPS anymore. Will be back soon enough.

The service here has gone downhill. While in the store I was ignored by sales people even cut off by one while browsing. I purchased 3 items and was overcharged for one by $ 5. When I called in to get a refund they first tried to get me to come back in to get the price fixed. Then acted like they were doing me a favor to give me the price marked on the item. I get that mistakes happen but don’t act like you are doing the customer a favor to fix it!

This location has cooking classes in the back which I highly recommend for anyone. My wife and I went to the Italian date night class we are ok home cooks and found it informative and delicious. The employees were extremely helpful.

Great selection. You can find everything you’re looking for. The store is, however, very understaffed. Checking out takes a long, long time.

Sur La Table is fantastic! It’s an one-​stop shop for any and all kitchenware. Whenever you need something kitchen-​related, Sur La Table has got you covered. From espresso machines to muffin pans to cleaning supplies, Sur La Table has so much to offer. Cookware, cutlery, dinnerware, and bakeware galore!
Even just browsing the store is an adventure, as you end up finding something you never thought you needed but desperately do. Like avocado slicers, 8-​piece seafood kits, Miyabi knives, Le Creuset cast iron pots, juicers, even Nespresso machines. Seriously, Sur La Table has everything. The prices are reasonable too, a cheaper Williams-​Sonoma. Sur La Table also frequently has sales and clearances, both online and in-​store. Great store to find gifts for everyone without breaking the bank.
I also have to give props to Sur La Table for their attentive and warm customer service. Pretty much every staff member is friendly and helpful. Additionally, this Sur La Table location offers cooking classes in the back. Check out what they offer online!

I discovered this place when I was going through depression — yes, we’re getting personal. And I wanted to try something new, but also something I loved to see if it would help me in anyway. So I signed up for the first class they had the next day, which happened to be macaroons!
The class was extremely hands on and super fun, plus we were given an in-​store discount and another discount for any upcoming class. This location specifically, offers a free class after a set amount purchased.
My only reduction for a star is parking. Saturdays = farmers market and being my first time ever in this area, I was driving around forever trying to find parking. Most parking places were full or only accepted cash — so just be aware of that.
TIP– Wait for the sales. Every so often they reduce the class prices and there’s ALWAYS a sale on products. If you sign up for the newsletter, you will get at least 4x/​week with some type of sale. Overkill, but some may appreciate it.

I went to Sur la Table today just to look around and ended up leaving with a Nespresso purchase. I big THANK YOU to Lydia and Binh who were very informative and helpful. An extra thank you to Lydia who had to work with Customer Service over the phone to ensure I received the advertised price. She spent a good half hour getting that done.

I’m new to the Sur La Table fan club, but I’m loyal as a mother-​shut-​your-​mouth!!!
— In store demos of products that I actually care about and want to purchase. This is purely by chance, but I appreciate that Sur La Table and I both have great taste! lol
— While the Towson location is my most frequented, this one is my new favorite because of the cooking classes. Unfortunately, none of my CONVENIENT MD locations offer them. le sigh.
–Atmosphere/​Staff: Very attentive and kind staff. I’ve been making some investments to my kitchen supplies and have had outstanding service from the staff. I came here recently to treat myself to a Scanpan. As I navigated through the store debating whether or not I felt like parting with my coins (fear of buyers remorse, of course), EVERY.SINGLE.ASSOCIATE commented on how much they loved the Scanpan! I don’t know if it was some kind of Scanpan conspiracy, but it worked. I absolutely love my Scanpan… and just as they described, NOTHING sticks to this thing. Even when things «burn» (or get too Cajun as I like to call it), I just wait for the pan to cool off and I’m able to wipe the residue out with a paper towel… Okay okay. enough about that. The staff and atmosphere are awesome! lol
–Cooking class: My babe and I attended the Date Night: Exploring Latin Favorites class. There were 6 couples and we worked in teams of two couples. Each team prepares the full list of items on the menu, however, each person does not have a hand in the making/​preparing of each ingredient. We kind of worked off of each other’s strengths and made it happen. Chef David Tesno, a CIA trained chef, was very clear with his directions and demonstrations… and also very helpful when it came to using certain techniques or answering our «are we doing it right!!!/Does this look okay?» questions. Each recipe, when fully prepared, was marked with a clothespin with our team number so that we ate what we prepared/​things didn’t get mixed up during baking. The class started off a little cumbersome, but after we got into the flow of things, everything went so smoothly and was super organized (as expected). In addition to Chef David, there were three kitchen assistants who were there to hand out ingredients, supplies, clear dirty dishes, and answer questions. Once we got everything all prepared/​in the ovens, we took a 15min break that the staff used to set up the final food presentation for each team… and we used it to shop with our complimentary 10% off coupon that comes with the class (#win!!). We came back, ate, commented on how delicious everything was, shared laughs with the other couple on our team, and departed for the evening. This was such a great date idea. I’d definitely come back for another! Oh… another perk… if we register for another class within a week, we get that at a discounted rate. YES!
Mmkay…I’ve written way too much. So, though it’s needless to say, I’ll still say it… I love this place!

We stopped in just to check out the clearance section and dream about the future kitchen we can’t currently afford. While passing by the espresso machines, an employee must have overheard a comment about my quad lattes, because she came over and was so thrilled to make cappuccinos for us. Bonus points that she did this despite pointing out «I know you didn’t come in here today to look at coffee makers», but was simply happy to make us a drink and show off a cool toy.

As a kitchen gadget addict, I was so excited to learn that they were opening in Old Town, within walking distance from my house. The first couple of weeks they opened, we were psyched to be able to attend one of their chef events with Chef Sean Brock and was looking forward to the prospect of attending more events like that. I have not registered for any of their cooking class yet, so that’s on my to-​do list.
The employees are very nice and present a good mix of attentiveness and awareness of when to leave customers alone to their own devices (a plus for me since I often go in just to browse). For the few questions I had, they were more than willing to spend time to answer them and/​or find other employees that would have the answers.
I think, however, there is room for improvement.
Items that are on sale are not placed in one area. They are all over the store and WITHOUT any signs of a markdown or indication that that particular item is for sale. Basically, you have to go to the Sur La Table website, check out the items on sale on the website before going to the store (preferably with the list of items printed out in case there is an issue at the register). Conversely, some items that are NOT on sale are erroneously placed in sale displays… a phenomenon I saw with three different customers as I’m waiting to check out. And we all know how frustrating it is to be told at the register that something you thought was for sale was not. So, I think the store could be more organized, and/​or have some sort of scanning machine so that customers can check the prices out themselves before taking them to the register.
All in all, I am pleased to have them close to home, and despite my criticism, sadly, I know I will be spending too much money there…

Really happy this place opened up so close to my apartment. Sur la Table is basically an affordable Williams-​Sonoma, where you can pay roughly 25% less for o lot of the same or similar quality cooking gear. They have a great selection of both brand-​name items and their own brand, which I actually prefer for most mundane kitchen utensils. It’s reasonably high quality and the price is right. The staff is very friendly, knowledgable, and available, which is a great thing in a store with so many specialty items. I haven’t taken any of their cooking classes yet, but the kitchen in the back of the store looks awesome! I plan to sign up for one of their classes in 2014 and take advantage of it.
