Hello, I’m Rachel, the founder of Sidekick for Hire, LLC. I’m a travel fanatic, an animal enthusiast, a doting aunt, and a big fan of themed parties. And above all, I’m a natural-born Sidekick. From an early age, I wanted to help everyone I knew with tasks big and small.

Since graduating with a B.A. from Texas A&M University, I have served 10 years in a variety of roles at national U.S. nonprofits and trade associations honing key Sidekick Superpowers like event planning, project management, customer service, marketing, writing and editing, and administrative support. My skills didn’t go unnoticed and friends and family often asked me to stand by their side as they rushed into the many pivotal plot points of life: coordinating the details and providing custom-designed materials for parties and weddings; organizing moves; and crafting their perfect vacation (even Heroes need a break, you know). My motivating goal is to help more people find time to enjoy life to the fullest.

Working with Rachel was so easy, straight-forward, and informative; I can’t imagine how we would have done it without her. Rachel planned an excellent get away weekend to celebrate my husband’s 30^th birthday party with all of our friends. Rachel helped me find a cabin to rent outside of the DC Metro area, but still within driving distance, and able to accommodate the 25+ friends that would be attending. After weighing various options, she helped me settle on a large vacation home in the Deep Creek resort area. The home was great and had plenty of room for everyone to sleep, eat, and use the bathroom comfortably.
Feeding and keeping a group of 25+ people is no easy task, so Rachel helped me to plan a well thought out and economical menu of meals that would satisfy the hungry crowd. She developed a spreadsheet using Google Drive, which allowed me to make changes and view any updates she had in real time. She also researched the price of all of the items down to the condiments and determined what would get me the most bang for my buck while also minimizing the number of trips to various stores. This was invaluable.
It was hard to wrap my head around exactly how much each person would eat and making sure I kept the price reasonable for each attendee. Rachel took care of these aspects of the planning and greatly reduced the overall amount of stress I was feeling in planning for the weekend. She broke down the price for each meal as well as the cost per person — for both drinkers and non-alcohol drinkers. She also notified each attendee how much he or she owed and collected the money. This was a great help, and everyone knew what was expected of them.
Once the festivities began, Rachel kept everything in order and made sure that meals were prepared according to a schedule. The weekend was a great success, and our friends will be talking about it for years to come. This event would not have happened without Rachel’s help, and I highly recommend her if you are in need of help for planning an event. She will help you methodically plan while also reducing your overall stress level so that you can enjoy your own event!
