Sherman’s Heating & Air Conditioning

This is by far the best heating and air conditioning company I have ever done business with. Mr. Sherman has worked on my HVAC system 3 times in the past 6 years. He shows up fast, is able to troubleshoot very complex problems quickly and charges a very fair price.
Whenever friends or family members have a problem with their heating or air conditioning system I tell them to call Mr. Sherman.

Bob Sherman has saved us on more than one occasion. He even gives out free advice or How-to’s over the phone. Who else does that?! No one. He gives free advice for what others would come over a charge you for.
He even helped us help out our neighbor. Our neighbor (who is elderly) came over and asked for help because his heat was out. This just happened today during the «blizzard of the century». We called Bob and he gave a couple of suggestions as to what to do to get it going again and sure enough one of the suggestions worked!
I suggest Bob to anyone who is having trouble with a/​c or heating. And he’s so knowledgeable. You can tell by the way he talks about the work he does that he knows it inside and out.
He’s the best.

Bob Sherman is the most knowledgeable person I have ever met when it comes to HVAC systems — especially in BelleView. This is the second winter he has had to come out to repair my heating system. If I could afford to replace my 45-​year-​old unit, I would. In the meantime, he has fixed the immediate problem both times. He is prompt, and his prices are fair. And he is MORE than willing to explain every step of the repair process, so be patient. He knows what he’s talking about. 5 stars.

Can’t give five stars because I didn’t actually end up having service performed by Sherman’s, but the four stars are for the advice I was provided over the phone and I would definitely go with this company if they’re available.
I have a small commercial building that needs two new HVAC units and I was having trouble finding anyone in the area that had time to come out and give a proposal. I called Sherman’s because of its location and ratings and within 3 minutes of speaking with the guy on the phone he explained that he wasn’t willing to give me a bid because the job was outside of the scope of what he works on.
He could’ve hung up at that moment, but instead he spent the next 15 minutes explaining what the job would entail and giving me recommendations on the brand of units I should be looking for, the difference in sizes of units and what size would likely be sufficient, and the pros and cons of different options that would be available on the units so that I could decide whether they were worth the cost and likely maintenance. He then recommended another company that works on this type of job and suggested that once I had a bid I would be in a better position to shop around. I found his knowledge and candor to be invaluable, especially since he was essentially donating his time to a job he had already turned down.
I noticed another reviewer who had a bad phone experience with this company and to be fair, the guy on the phone has a different conversational style than I think people are used to. He might come off a little prickly, but I think if you just give him the info he needs that whatever comes back will be honest and fair.
Pro Tip: If you’re replacing a unit, have the brand and model number ready when you call so he can tell you everything you need.

I had to have Bob out twice; once on Labor Day weekend and the following Sunday. Not because he couldn’t fix the A/​C, but because two separate things went wrong. He was at my house within a half hour both times and knew exactly what was wrong with the unit, to include having the parts on hand with him. He got right down to business and made the repairs within an hour each time. I can’t say enough about how responsive he was to our issue. He may be a bit abrupt, as mentioned in other reviews, but I’d rather have that than someone trying to BS me, waste my time, or overcharge me. He didn’t even charge extra for the weekend and holiday calls. Outstanding! I will definitely use him again if anything HVAC breaks again!

Bob got me out of a big jam back in February. I was selling a house and closing was on a Thursday. There were a few HVAC items on the buyer’s list that they wanted me to «fix» before closing. I had scheduled another company to come out on Tuesday to do the work. Due to the heavy snow the day prior to snow they flaked — didn’t show, didn’t call. I got a hold of them and all they could offer was to come on Friday.
So I pulled up Unilocal and took a chance on Sherman’s. I spoke to Bob and he agreed to come do the work pending his ability to get onto my street. Luckily it is a bus route so the county had plowed it.
Bob shows up less than 90 minutes later and does the work (and then some). His price was more than fair, especially given the circumstance.
I think you have to know what you’re getting into with Bob. He’s a straight shooter. That’s probably off putting to a lot of people. You have to be prepared and ready for him to explain what he is doing in very thorough detail. For me – a guy who loves to know how everything in the universe works — I appreciated it. If you are in a rush or simply don’t care I could see why this would annoy you. I think he was trying to impart his knowledge so that I, as a homeowner, could have a better sense of how the HVAC system worked. The flip side to his demeanor is that he offered legitimate ways to save me money on the fixes I needed and potential future issues.
I’d hire him again if I needed to.

Wow… never Unilocaled before, but I had to on this one… like other posters below, totally rude, didn’t listen to a thing I said, AND, simply said: «I’m not interested in doing the work.» Wonder how he stays in business.

Totally rude when I called to set up appointment. Cannot imagine how they would treat a prospective client like that.

Extremely rude!!! They guy who answers the phone has no people skills, and even without knowing anything about my home was not at all interested in my issues. He said they only service certain A/​C setups, and since mine has a component in the attic he wasn’t interested in the work without even assessing the job. I asked if he wanted my business, and his response was «We do not!»

Extremely rude. Poor customer service. I would be ashamed to have employees with lack of personal skills working the phones. Was unable to explain my situation before being rudely rushed off the phone and hung up on mid sentence.

I called these folks blind, hoping they could fix my nonfunctional HVAC unit. Without even seeing it or letting me describe the unit or issues they told me they were not interested and not to call back! I was polite and courteous. They apparently only service preferred kinds of unit. What dopes! Their name may as well be «Sherman’s HVAC: screw you!!»

Fixed the issue and gave helpful advise about troubleshooting before calling. Also gave instructions on maintenance and cleaning to avoid spending a lot money in the future.

Very impressive service. Bob is savvy and knowledgeable about heating repair. Most importantly, he really cares about getting the customer a good deal

I called this morning because we had no heat. He said he would be here within an
hour & he was. He repaired the problem & explained way more than I understood.
He also gave me helpful hints for my furnace, A/​C & hot water heater!!! His price
was lower than others. I have put Sherman’s name on my frig & will call for any
other problem.

Fourth time I have called Sherman’s and the fourth time I have walked away a very happy customer. You have to love a company that walks you thorough how to fix something to help you avoid spending money!
Call them. They are cheap, talented and professional.

My wife and I had an air conditioner that had stopped working. We called Sherman to come out and determine it could be repaired or if a replacement was needed. The air conditioner is kept in the back yard in a small fenced in area. The unit and the trash can are both located in the fenced in area. This information was made clear when the service tech was there to inspect the unit. Following an inspection of the unit, it was determined a replacement was necessary.
The new unit (American Standard unit replaced an older Carrier unit) is quite larger than the old unit. The service tech, instead of taking out the old pad and making room for the new pad, placed the new pad partially on the old pad and out onto the stone patio area where the trash can was to be located. The service tech installed the new unit in a place that makes it impossible for the trash can to fit back in its place in the fenced in area.
I have called Sherman’s to see if they could come out and move the unit. They are saying I’ll have to pay another $ 500 to have the unit moved back to the original location of the older unit (which is less than 2 feet from its current location).
I will say, if you’re looking for expedited service, they made their first visit and installed the unit all within about a 24 hour time span. But if you’re looking for a company that’s going to respect you as a customer and not cut corners in their work, I’d look elsewhere.

I didn’t have any problems at all. Called yesterday afternoon and he came out this morning before 10am. Turns out my dual run capacitor was bad. He replaced that for me, tested the system to make sure it was cooling properly (no leaks), then he checked the refrigerant pressure (all good, didn’t need any). He gave me a very fair price, as well as several valuable tips on how I can reduce the heating/​cooling costs in my home. I liked his direct honest demeanor (no bs). Thank you Sherman!

Wouldnt commit to an appointment. Said maybe tomorrow. Poor customer service. No idea about quality.

Sherman’s Heating and Air Cond is a one man show. Bob is the owner and operator. We had an emergency and decided to go with him. He was rude and acted like he was doing us a favor.
He quoted first quoted me $ 500.00 them he quoted my husband $ 575 for the job which was outrageous, but we had no choice and had to pay it. To add insult to injury he them charged our credit card $ 650. I called him and he stated «you were low on free on». As a contractor he is obligated to contact us before he increases the amount of the charge.
In other words he is rude and dishonest. Do not ever give this man your credit card.

We got back from a vacation and that night the Outside part of our Central AC went down. With another 95+ degree day awaiting us, we called a half hour after they opened to see if someone could come by.
They said that they may be able to get their before noon, if not, it would have to wait until tomorrow as they were busy.
They ended up stopping by around 10:30 and fixing our problem so the AC would be up immediately and then went over with us what some other issues with it may be, but with no pressure on using them in the future, but I would anyway.
Quick service, good knowledge, and a true appreciation for the customer.
