every time I go the service is always very fast, very friendly environment and the taste is amazing! Everyone needs to try it!

I came a few days ago for lunch and got a spicy chicken empanada. To me it was great but there was no spice. I figured maybe they have me a regular one and would try again another day. I came in tonight for dinner. Ordered the 3 spicy chicken empanadas with a side of black beans. The empanadas looked freshly cooked and the black beans had steam coming from them. I love spicy food and Latin food so I was excited. I took a bite of the empanadas and to my disappointment they were bland. I mean. very bland. They needed some seasoning and I poured cholula hot sauce on top. Now onto the black beans… the temperature was warm and again bland. If you are expecting some richly flavored food, this is NOT the place for you. Try El Pollo Ranchero down the street. Much better

Stopped by here for the first time a few days ago. This chicken place is kind of like a fast food version of similar Peruvian Chicken restaurants around. The food was decent, but wasn’t great. I wanted grilled chicken but the cashier stared at the two pieces on the heating rack, looked back at me and kind of gave me this weird look, went into the back and came back and said it would be 30 minutes for more. Nope. We ordered 8 pieces of the fried chicken with rice and yucca. The rice and yucca were good. The chicken was relatively bland. It was relatively cheap which was a plus.

So my son and I decided to stop somewhere for food after or trip to the library. He wanted peruvian chicken and despite me raising him vegetarian I agreed. I was in the mood for yucca fries and pollo campero was close. My son didn’t want to try an unfamiliar place and expressed his concern the best way a 7yr old could in front of me and the cashier. I guess she didn’t like his tude much. We walked out and I pulled a «wait a dang minute. I’m the adult and u say where we eat, unless you want to pay for it.» We went back in, waited in line some more. When we got to the cashier she told me that they were all out of white meat. But wait… the guy two customers before us got white meat. I’m very observant. I got yucca fries and that was it. When I got home, about 10 mins later I called them to make pickup order. 20 piece family meal, all white meat. The guy in the phone said «sure, no problem. «hmmmm… I’ll be watching you closer for this type of behavior.

I was first introduced to Pollo Campero during my first Unilocal event and I was impressed by the guava juice and beans. Today for lunch I decided to chose to dine in at this location.
I probably will not return to this particular location: 1) the cashier was helpful with the menu but became rude upon me order the guava juice; she stated they were out and the supplier too (the tone she gave… Yikes) 2) I asked for 2 legs and 1 thigh with one of the legs grilled I got the opposite– 1 leg and 2 thighs win 1 grilled. 3) she didn’t hand me a survey coup instead I asked what are those (you know I’m coupon Suzy) and she gave me one while saying «it’s a really long survey but it’s worth the $ 5 coupon».
Customer service is big and for those reasons I will leave this here at a 3 star.

Pollo Campero is a Guatemalan tradition, and «in country» you can’t beat it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. But the franchise seems to have left a few things behind when it came to the U.S. — namely quality and customer service. Both are lacking. The food is okay, but the portions are very small. They completely screwed up my order too.
I’ll eat in Pollo Campero again when I go back to Guatemala.

With so many authentic latin chicken places around, it was my mistake to go to a chain restaurant. The employees are nice but the food was really bad. The «lime» flavor tastes like dish detergent, the coleslaw was a swamp of mayo and the portions are tiny (and served lukewarm) compared to other places even though the prices are rather similar. Two stars because the place looked clean.

Route 1 has as many chicken places as stop signs. So when another opens up I’m not too excited, because most are about the same. Pollo Campero is another in that list. There was nothing that I had to make it stand above, or out from the rest.
Flavor was ok, but my chicken was dry. If I want dry chicken I’ll grill it myself (ask my kids.) some friends have brought take out chicken from here and that was better than what I had when I went there, so I’ll park on three stars for now and visit in a month or so again.
But for now– 3 dry chickens out of 5.

So glad they put in a location near my work and house. The staff is nice, the food is so delicious and it is cooked to order. The flavor of the fired chicken is very unique and makes me want more. The empanadas and yucca fries are great too. Stop by and give it a try for yourself. Their receipts offer discounts on later visits too!

The fried chicken is decent but definitely not amazing. The fries are pretty good also. And that’s where it ends. For the sides we ordered rice, pinto beans, and coleslaw. They were all horrible! We also tried the horchata. It was equally disgusting. The chicken also comes with complimentary dinner rolls. They were sooooo dry. So I walked up to the counter and asked for butter or honey. They don’t have any. The kid behind the counter looked at me like I was stupid for asking??? We will NEVER return!!!

This place is going down quickly. Visited on 3÷29÷15. Place was dirty and almost empty with the exception of 2 tables of loud intoxicated men. The 2 people in front of me got their orders incorrect. I wanted half grill chicken and they only had legs. After a 15 min wait I got my order WRONG. When I complained the manager was rude and wanted to charge me extra to correct the order. Chicken and yuca were cold. BAD SERVICE… SO-​SO food

I found this place by accident, and am so happy I did! In the past month, we have done take-​out 2x and eaten here once. And one time we stopped by just to get one of their fruit drinks!
We have never been disappointed. My husband actually prefers their fried chicken to KFC or Popeyes, and I love their citrus grilled chicken.
The sides have all been good as well.
But the best is their fruit drinks, particularly the Jamaica. Really refreshing and tasty!
We will continue to go here because it is good and because it is very close to our home (and we don’t have to cross Rt 1!!!).

Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to Pollo Campero which was good for me but not for so much for the chicken. Now, I will confess that what first drew me to this place was the giant inflatable chicken up front. Yup, faster than you could say Foghorn Leghorn, I was off the road and ready to checkout what Pollo Campero had to offer.
This store is part of a chain of stores that is attempting to bring Latin American chicken to gringo land one savory mouthful at a time. Although I don’t ever see this chicken franchise usurping the Colonel’s hold on the fast food chicken throne, it can’t be denied that they serve up a pretty tasty bird.

I ordered their grilled chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw. I also tried their chicken nuggets, which for some reason I couldn’t understand, also came with a side of coleslaw. Both selections were savory, succulent, and superb. I was particularly impressed with the quality of their chicken nuggets, for they were real chicken and not a fake concoction of chemicals and ground «chicken». These little babies pulled apart to reveal a real chicken texture inside, so moms I say forget the clown and bring the kids to Pollo Campero. My grilled chicken sandwich was also yummy, but i really think it is a must to pay a dollar extra and add a slice of avocado. This sandwich stands as a healthy change to a diners fast food dance card and shouldn’t be missed.

Now, the coleslaw was supper creamy and tasty, but I found myself wishing that it was a little less creamy. Also, and this could just be my personal preference, I thought my meal was bit too salty, but this was such a minor detail that I soon forgot about it and crossed the road to chicken nirvana.

Had to pick my husband up some chicken for his lunch tomorrow and this was the place to be you could smell it from outside the aroma suck you in
Customer service was okay nothing to think about but didn’t stop me from wanting to go back again the food is good and I will probably be back again if I’m in the area

We were really hoping that this would be a new favorite place. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed in the quality and taste.
We rolled up around 8:40pm on a weeknight – they had already started putting away stuff (like the advertised Latin drinks machine). My husband ordered camperitos (basically chicken nuggets), empanadas, black beans, plantains, and yucca fries.
–The camperitos were good, although a bit dry – was there supposed to be a sauce that came with them?
–The empanadas had good flavor, but you could tell they were fried – a little on the soggy side.
–The black beans were good – but how could you go wrong with those?
–The yucca fries had no flavor and were a little dry.
–And finally, the plantains… the stuff that I was looking forward to the most, was inexcusably inedible. They tasted like they were fried in either old oil or oil that was used for other fried food. They did not taste anything like plantains and left a horrible taste in our mouths. Additionally, they were very soggy. We ended up throwing away the plantains and the yucca fries.
I am really sad that this didn’t work out for us – especially since we love this kind of food. I hope that other customers have better luck than us.

I went here thinking it would be Peruvian chicken and was kind of disappointed it was a more bland Latin chicken. However, ended up pleased with the food and service and price. The empanadas were delicious and full of cheesy goodness inside. The yuca fries were nice with the mayo dip, as were all the sides. The beans had a lot of flavor as did grilled chicken, especially the darker meat. The fried chicken was decent but nothing all that special compared to the other fast food options and Korean chicken wings.

This recently opened in our neighborhood and the lines have been so long, it has deterred me from trying it. Today, I finally made it and it was worth the wait. The fried chicken was delicious and reasonably priced. Service can be slow and lines can be long so allow for plenty of time. Chicken was moist, flavorful and came with a generous side and a tortilla for around $ 5. I also ordered a side of plantains and it was delicious.

So this joint opened up a few weeks ago. Driving by, I recalled going to the Pollo Campero in Seven Corners when it first opened and wondering what all the fuss was about. The chicken was kinda dry, the sides were really salty, and you had to wait in line for this stuff. But since it’s on my side of Route 1 and I don’t have to wait 20 minutes to cross the street to get to it, I decided to give it a try for lunch.
Rolled in at 11:30 on a Wednesday and the place was starting to get packed. Nice clean well-​lit interior with plenty of seating. Only two cashiers and they both had their hands full explaining the relatively simple concept of side orders. So about 8 minutes later, they finally figure their orders out, they get handed a little table number holder, and they take their seats. The menu’s a split between fried and citrus grilled. They’ve also go empanadas and salad bowls for the zero-​carb crowd and boneless tenders for kids and people who don’t like being reminded that they’re eating a chicken. I’m getting carry out so I opt for the Half Grilled Meal (breast, wing, thigh, leg) with a side of Campero Beans. Without a drink, this will run you about $ 9.
So I take my receipt and wait while the line gets longer and longer. Apparently, they still don’t have all the ordering bugs figured out because there’s about a half dozen servers all running around trying to figure out who ordered what. A bunch of orders got sent back as well, so make sure you’re getting what you paid for. 10 minutes later, my order is up and I’m outta there. I gotta say that in the years since I went to that last Pollo Campero, I’m pretty sure it hasn’t changed: grilled breast was kinda small and dry, the dark meat was moist, and the beans were salty. Considering that a whole grilled/​fried chicken with two sides will run you $ 20, seems like you’re really not getting that much food. If I’m going to spend that kinda money, I’ll go further down to Su Pollo and get a charcoal rotisserie chicken that tastes really amazing.
While there was nothing particularly bad about my meal, there’s really nothing for me to recommend it. I’ll give the fried chicken a try eventually, but if you’re price conscious, you’re probably better off just getting a rotisserie chicken at SFW or Safeway. It will be about the same size, taste no better/​worse, and is definitely cheaper.
