Dr. Budumpati was a huge disappointment. I’ve needed several surgeries over the last year and a half and am in constant pain. My surgeon was relying on Dr. Budumpati to manage my pre– and post-operative pain. However, this clinic seems only interested in giving injections, which I do not need. Every visit, I was asked if I wanted a $ 3000 injection, regardless of why I was there. I was constantly hounded about quitting pain medication, even through their job is to provide pain management. In trying to identify additional systemic reasons for pain, Dr. Budumpati and her PA, Nora, BOTH missed a huge diagnosis of LUPUS. When I brought Budumpati’s testing to both my primary care doctor and a rheumatologist, they were both appalled that another physician had missed such an obvious diagnosis. I was mismanaged and disrespected at every visit. The only bright spot at this office was Budumpati’s former PA, Erica, who was compassionately seeking myriad ways to help manage my pain, including diet and exercise, OTC medications, and many other suggestions. When Erica moved on to another clinic an hour away, this place went downhill quickly. I have since submitted a formal complaint to the Virginia Board of Medicine and the Better Business Bureau regarding Dr. Budumpati, the PA and the clinic, to both investigate the pushing of injections on patients as well as negligence in treating chronically ill patients.
