Lady Completely lacked professionalism over the phone. I bought two groupons for two different services, she didn’t want to honor the second (said groupon is for new customers only), then made me print my voucher to give her the voucher # to reserve the appt. Anyone who uses groupon knows this locks the voucher and makes it use/​lose in 30 days. This is NOT common vender practice. (Plus she had a very heavy accent and when I told her I wasn’t understanding, she took a very offended tone). Then she started talking really slow, in a rude way (yo-​it is not my fault I could barely understand her – I see that many times in other reviews for this place that she has limited English skills). Needless to say the call did not go well. I hung up and was creeped out by the super negative energy this lady gave! (Read that several times in the reviews too!). I called groupon, explained the situation and they refunded my groupons for this business. After that creepy phone situation I cannot imagine letting that lady touch me, and I am so glad, after reading all the bad reviews! Only «business» on Unilocal that 80%+ of the reviews are bad! Save yourself! Would NOT recommend this place!

The massage was nice.
The facial was awesome though. The lady is rough though. She was so rough that at first i thought i did something to offend her at some point in life and that she was paying me back. But in the end my face was so soft and smooth for days. That was the best result i have ever had from a facial. She didn’t do extractions, which i wouldn’t want her to no way because she is rough. I would definitely go back to her.

I am a long time customer of Michelle’s Beauty and Day Spa. For the past five years, I have received a massage every month from the owner, Michelle. She is amazing! After every massage, I feel like I’m floating on cloud nine. Michelle’s techniques effectively work out every tension in my body and dissipate all of my stress. I love the hot towels that she uses and, unlike other establishments, I am not charged extra for the use of the towels. She also incorporates wonderful stretching techniques into every massage.
As a member of the spa, who makes appointments every month, I receive discounted massage prices. I have been to many spas all over the country, and I would choose Michelle’s skills over every other massage therapist that I’ve experienced. My mind is boggled by the negative reviews written by other customers. In five years, I have NEVER had trouble with booking an appointment, and I have received excellent customer care. Michelle greets me warmly with a smile and hug every time I see her, and she makes every effort to accommodate my scheduling needs. If you’re looking for an amazing massage that is very reasonably priced, I highly recommend that you book an appointment with Michelle.

I purchased a massage and facial through groupon for Michelle’s Beauty and Day Spa. There was some confusion with my appointment time; I had booked a Friday at 2pm but received a confirmation call Tuesday for a Wed noon appt. At least they called and we straightened it out, but I had to settle for a 1pm on Friday.
When I arrived, the service was prompt. While the setting is ‘fine’, it’s just that…‘fine’. No luxury, no fancy sitting room or anything like that. The rooms were just barely big enough for each of my services, but they did provide a robe and slippers to go between the two.
Facial: This felt quite rushed at first. (Who I believe to be Michelle) didn’t introduce herself at all or tell me what she was doing… just the touch of saying «My name is xxxxx. How are you today? Is there anything in particular you’re concerned about.» etc is important I think. She just started in on looking at my skin and putting something on my face (a bit too firmly/​quickly for my taste). After I asked about a few of the treatments, she started to tell me what she was doing each time. What this facial didn’t have was any extractions. Extractions are both the best and worst part of a facial and I was hoping to get rid of some troublesome blemishes. But… no extractions. End of the day, I was pleased with the results of the facial, just not really impressed with the service during it.
Massage: I don’t know the name of the girl that did my massage. She DID ask if I had areas of concern or that I wanted worked on. After I told her, I didn’t find her to pay too much extra attention to those areas even tough I asked her to. I had to ask for increased pressure. She did a fine job… though a bit too much of just moving my joints (which I can do myself) and light rubbing. I want to feel like I’m getting my money’s worth and, had I paid full price, I would have been pretty upset with the lack of actual massage during this 55 minute treatment. Also, the table desperately needed more cushioning. I could feel the slats of the table on my chest when I was laying face down. Fairly uncomfortable at times…
End of the day, the service was just fine. Nothing special, nothing egregious. I’m SUPER glad I didn’t pay full price… I would not have been satisfied. I likely won’t go back, but I prefer the whole ‘treatment’, so to speak, when I visit a spa.

I don’t know why there’s so many poor reviews. My facial was great and the whole time felt like a face massage. My skin was glowing and looked great afterward. The massage was skillful and went right for the knots and tight places. Will return!

Too bad that Jane works for Michelle, as I would definitely use her regularly. Very firm, skilled, yet gentle touch. I disagree with others who rated her poorly. Maybe not the best ever, but solid and focused on her clients’ healing and wellness.
Michelle’s facial on the other hand, was one step shy of being b*!** slapped. Rough, hurried, she yanked my head and neck, rushed through every step so quickly, scrubbing and rubbing almost as deeply as Jane did on my back knots. The next morning I had bruises on my cheek and jaw line! I basically felt like she wanted my money and is not attached to her services anymore. Very bad energy. Worst of well over 100 facials all over the world. By the spa owner, go figure.

What a great massage! This in my first ever Unilocal review, but I had to recommend Michelle’s. I went in on a groupon. When she asked about trouble areas, I gave her my canned «I usually carry a lot of tightness in my shoulders.» I was really just there for a nice relaxing massage. I didn’t think to tell her about random joint pains I’ve been having, because I didn’t think that massage would address those. As she found every little joint pain area, she stopped and worked on it for a while, as if to say «you’ve got a little problem here». Even one in my left thumb! Now it no longer hurts. My left thumb was hurting me for over a month. A thumb! And when she massaged my face and head, I could actually feel the muscles twitch and spasm and relax. I am very pleased with my experience.

Michelle’s saved my husbands birthday plans. I purchased a Groupon deal for a massage and facial combo planning to surprise my husband on his birthday. Unfortunately, of the two days I needed to choose between the spa was closed or the masseuse wasn’t in.
The manager/​owner of the salon went above and beyond to help me implement my birthday plan. She called me back and let me know that the masseuse had agreed to come in on her day off. I couldn’t believe it!
We arrived to a comfortable, relaxing environment at the spa. The masseuse was fantastic, I felt light and relaxed when we left. However, there is no space for a couple to get a couples massage at the same time in the same room. I got a facial while my husband got his massage then we switched services and rooms.
I get facials and massages a few times a year and the ones I got at Michelle’s was on par with the best of them. The only negative I would give is that I felt the pedicure was mediocre and overpriced. The level of customer service and professionalism is unmatched. If you have an opportunity definitely take advantage.

I just had a 60-​minute massage yesterday with Jane, and it was excellent! I had never been before and saw the Groupon — when I called to make an appointment, Michelle was very helpful and offered to give me the price of the Groupon directly (which I hadn’t yet purchased). Making an appointment was quick and easy, and I received a reminder call the day of the appointment. The place is in a very convenient location. Jane did an excellent job on my massage and I would recommend her services to anyone. I’ll definitely be back!

I’m not sure why everyone gave such awful reviews. I almost canceled my appointment and had Groupon refund my boyfriend’s money. Michelle is very pleasant. I received a call to remind me about my appointment because I almost forgot since I forgot to put the appointment in my phone. My facial was great and I had glowing skin after. My massage was pretty good. It was very relaxing except for the getting the knots out part, which is to be expected. The only thing that would have made everything better would be some aromatherapy. I would have loved to have had lavender in the air and maybe some peppermint oil in the lotion for the massage. But those are just personal preferences and I’ve become accustomed to at other places. No big deal. Overall, I recommend going. Make sure to bring cash for a tip and don’t be cheap! Tip on the actual amount, not the groupon amount you paid.

I’m surprised by the negative reviews! I planned to buy a Groupon the night before, but after talking to Michelle on my first try, later on a Thurs evening… she told me not to worry. She said she’d give me the same price in case the Groupon didn’t become available by the next day, since my appt was last minute. She was very cordial, and very accommodating since she fit me in the very next day. I had Jane as a technician, who was ready for me when I got there. She was wonderful… perfect pressure… after asking a few times if I was content. She was quiet, which was great… and as another reviewer commented, she moved seamless from body part to body part. I had issues with my neck and shoulder, so she spent ample time on both parts. I like a deeper massage and felt she provided me with the perfect pressure! She used hot towels on my neck, back, feet, and over my brow and eyes. WONDERFUL!!!
She was professional, polite, and very accommodating. She offered me the same «Groupon» rate for my next visit if I booked ahead of time. Yes, tips are cash only, as many salons require. Jane offered me water or green tea after my massage to help flush out my system.
This massage was definitely worth the discounted price, and in a very convenient location to my residence. I recommend asking for Jane and let her do her thing!

Got a gift certificate for my birthday for facial and massage. After reading the reviews I was almost frightened to even step foot in there, but was intent on giving it a shot since I had the gift voucher. I called to make an appointment; that was easy-​got one for the next day. When I walked in, Michelle was friendly, the massage therapist was friendly. Massage and facial felt awesome– granted, I am not a «spa» expert or snob so I really don’t have much to compare it to. All I know is that they were efficient, pleasant and made me feel very comfortable. The space is small but it works, I would definitely go back.

Don’t waist your money at this place. I purchased groupon for a massage and took my mom with me. Made an appointment for massage the worse experience that I had.
I ask for a deep tissue massage and she couldn’t do deep tissue. First of all they massage with the lotion and I asked for oil she said no oil. Then she starts the massage every 5 min she was getting lotion full hand of lotion put it on my back cold and massaging very soft I told her again I NEED DEEP TISSUE she said okay but it was the same.
I could of stay home and put lotion on my body. And also my four year old could do a better massage then her. Please don’t go for massage. If you want you can call groupon and get the credit back. Don’t even TRY to go there and waste your money.

I had an Amazon Local voucher for a deep tissue massage that I redeemed today. My massage was just average, and it certainly was not a deep tissue massage… maybe Swedish, if anything. I need a lot of pressure, especially to relieve the knots in my back, and even after I asked for more pressure, my masseuse did not deliver. I did appreciate the hot towels, and it was a relaxing experience, but I just needed more. I would not recommend this place for a deep tissue massage.

I, too, had a horrible experience just like everyone else. I bought a Groupon to pamper myself for once. Even just calling to schedule an appointment was a headache. Michelle barked at me that I had better have my Groupon voucher number ready and lectured me on her cancellation policy. I showed up for my 10 a.m. Saturday appointment five minutes early. The door was locked and nobody was there. I assumed they just hadn’t opened yet and I stood outside and waited… and waited… and waited. Finally around 10:15 or so, I tried to call but nobody answered and I left a message. Michelle called back a few minutes later advising that the person that my appointment was with had a stomachache and had to get some medicine at CVS, but would be there in five minutes. By 10:30, I had had enough and I left. I had a few awkward and angry phone conversations with her after that but I never actually stepped inside her shop. I would never come back here.

Overall, weird experience. Ease of scheduling, horrible. Michelles limited English proficiency is problemmatic talkin schedules and the strict rules of cash only tip. Most Groupons dont need to be printed out, but she insists. Parking was easy. This is the same connected salon as Salon Amarti, which also offered a groupon recently but with great service! The two businesses share a bathroom.
Heres where it gets odd… I filled out the paperwork saying I was pregnant, at 9 mo who could hide it? I provided the paper groupon. Met my male massage tech (sean?), and I got undressed and hopped on the table. After laying there 10 min, I was informed that this was a swedish massage– not a prenatal. I informed her that ive had both while pregnant, and so long as Sean doesnt put me on my stomach, all is well. She insisted there would be a $ 20 additional fee for the massage. I asked to instead use the groupon after I deliver in maybe two weeks and she refused, despite overhearing she extended the groupon! You could say I was a captive audience there in my birthday suit, so I complied under duress. Bad business practice. She should have told me upfront.
The Asian 40-​something male massage tech was awesome. Limited English as wellm but he knew tje right phrases to say and when, such as asking if he was applying the right pressure. He was very kind and had some interesting techniques not usually used in the massage circuit.
Bottom line – good massage weird beauty day spa! Just know what you are getting into!

Bought a living social deal for my boyfriend for his birthday. He loves massages and was so excited. Well, first they messed up the appt. I made it for him and when he showed up they told him it was the following week. There is no way I got it wrong, but my boyfriend is really easy going and he shrugged it off. But then he went the next week and said he got «the worst professional massage he ever had.» Apparently the girl who worked on him lightly rubbed oils on him for an hour. He requested more pressure and she pretty much ignored the request — and his request to focus in his legs and calves. He said he wanted to leave half way in but felt bad.
All in all, a waste of time and money. He did say the staff was friendly and the spa was clean and nice. Perhaps there other services are better, but go elsewhere for massage (and double confirm your appt).

I bought a Living Social deal for an hour long Signature Massage. I called immediately after purchasing my deal on a Monday, and was scheduled for Friday. I was impressed with their ability to so easily accommodate my schedule! Everyone was friendly, and my massage therapist, Jane, was great. Throughout the massage she asked me if the pressure was okay. I was pretty satisfied. I even booked a second massage at the same Living Social rate!
It’s a small operation. Don’t expect a fancy spa here. Their prices reflect as such. I was pleasantly surprised given the reviews here. I’d definitely recommend Michelle’s Beauty & Day Spa, especially if you can get one of their discounted deals.

I was pretty disappointed by the massage I received. Like most here, I had a coupon — mine was from Amazon Local.
It took me several times calling to book a massage, and the woman answering the phone didn’t have the best English. Every conversation was an adventure.
The place is certainly nice enough and clean enough.
My problem was that my «deep tissue» massage was the equivalent of someone applying sun screen to me for an hour. Nothing deep about it. I told the masseuse twice to please go deeper, which she did for the first 90 seconds or so after I said something.
It was among the least relaxing massages I’ve ever had, because I found it so annoying that I was not getting what I requested and paid for.
If you are in that area, Healing Tree is much better.
