I highly recommend Mattress & Carpet Center for both mattresses and carpet. For mattresses… First, the salesperson we worked with was extremely nice and extremely helpful, and we did not get the sense at all that he was upselling, as at some other stores — he seemed perfectly content to have us take the least expensive mattress in the store if that’s what we wanted. Second, the prices are excellent. We shopped at half a dozen other mattress stores before coming here (including places with words like «discount» and «warehouse» in the store title), and this had the best prices, by quite a bit. The selection isn’t quite as extensive, but they still have perhaps 20 or so different mattresses, which turned out to be plenty — we bought a king bed for ourselves, plus a twin bed for our son. Third, great delivery. The delivery people had to maneuver a tricky staircase to get the king mattress into our bedroom, and expended a lot of effort with a totally friendly attitude. Finally, A+ on customer service. We wound up doing an exchange of something, and they did the transaction with no hassle and no extra fees.
For carpet… Wound up buying carpet from them, too. Very good selection, very good quality, very good prices, very good service, and the installation went smoothly, as well. Again, no upselling — they’ll even show you leftover rolls from former customers’ installations, at big discounts. They also have other home improvement items, e.g. countertops and backsplashes, in the store, as well.

This is the ONLY place to buy a mattress in the DC area! Sharam is a lifesaver. I called after a company in Fairfax messed up our delivery then wouldn’t talk to us until 24 – 48 hours AFTER the wrong mattress got back to the Warehouse. Sharam promised me a right sized mattress within the hour, and it showed up early!!! Awesome customer service. Don’t go anywhere else! No headache, No Hassle, a promise over the phone was THE BEST MOMENT of my day. Thank you SO very much. My daughter has a place to sleep tonight!

We’ve bought hardwood floors, carpet and a mattress from Sharam over the last 10 years. The floors and carpet still look great. He gave me the best mattress price from the outset, took me 10 minutes to get a bed after spending hours researching/​mutiple visits negotiating prices at Sleepys and Mattress Discounters.

Ok so I recently moved from Los Angeles to DC and needed a new bed ASAP cause it just made no sense to have my old one shipped across the country. I looked online and even visited a few places but Mr. Sharam’s great reviews brought me to his store and for good reason. This is absolutely the best place to get a bed in town, you just can’t beat the price and quality, but most importantly the service. Mr. Sharam was able to get us a new bed, at a reasonable price, without being pushy or using those terrible salesman tactics. Delivery was smooth and timely just like he promised.
A few weeks later we needed carpet for a project we working on and he once again managed to wow us with his service. I went out to his store, chose the carpet I liked, he had someone come out and do an estimate the following day, and installed it on the date we requested without any hiccups. The quality and craftsmanship was superior and we will definitely be using him again in the future. It was an absolute dream working with Mr. Sharam and his team.

Sharam is the most knowledgeable and helpful flooring provider that I have found anywhere. We had him install carpeting in our house 10 years ago and he did a fabulous job. We brought him back a year ago to install hardwood and new carpeting and again he did exactly what he said he would do. He follows up and ensures the work is done well. He has all levels of flooring. He also does house repair work and has done significant work for me. Again, he has done an excellent job at all that I have asked him to do. If he can’t do something, he will tell you up front. I would highly recommend him to anyone for flooring, bedding and home repairs. He is highly ethical and I trust him explicitly.

We started our mattress search at one of their close competitors, and stopped in after driving by and seeing a sale sign out front. Even though the competitor was also having a sale, Sharam was able to show us a few better mattresses in our budget that were an even better price. I really liked that he was not pushy or trying to oversell us. He was just very matter of fact about what he had, the differences between a couple options we looked at, and what the sale prices were. He offered free delivery since we live close by, and was open to negotiating a bit once we made a decision.
Delivery was the day after purchase in the time frame given, and for an additional fee they were able to take the old mattress away. All of the employees are very professional and helpful, and overall I am very pleased with our purchase and service.

We live in Cameron Station — Alexandria, va. Sharam is great to work with. They carpeted our entire home and did a beautiful job. Very professional and easy to work with. We have them installing carpet in our condo in Annapolis next weekend.

Wow! What a great customer experience and great carpet. I had my entire downstairs carpeted and my own runner was installed too. It turned out that the installer missed the center of the steps so Mr. Shahaghi came out for a look and sent out another person to re-​install it. IT WAS MY CARPET!
What a great experience. His price was higher than others than other carpets I had looked at but I liked him, didn’t think he was trying to «sell» me and I got a good education while I was making my selection… in my house. I am very pleased with what I picked and know that it will last a long, long time. Thank you very much. BY ALL MEANS DO BUSINESS HERE. I am positive that I got a higher quality carpet than I had been considering elsewhere.

I wish I had done my research before going here. I was naïve and believed people stood behind their product. I paid $ 4,000
+ to carpet my two bedroom condo.
It’s been only 3 years and I have ripples. The carpet has started to come up at different spots against the wall. The worst thing is the padding. I was short changed in many spots. You can see where there is no padding.
No joke, about six months after it was installed. I found hidden in my closet, the old boards that are used to keep the carpet down. The tacks were rusted. Thank goodness I don’t have kids.

If I had been writing this review a year ago I would have given 5 stars — my husband and I were mattress shopping and my mom, who lives in Roanoke, said she had actually heard from someone down there that this place was wonderful and trustworthy. With that kind of reputation we decided it was worth checking out! We found a great mattress and the owner negotiated a bit with us on the price, which we appreciated. They were flexible regarding the delivery and we are still loving our purchase. So, mattress store = 5 stars!
With the great experience we had buying our mattress I pressured my husband to let us buy carpet from them this past June. We were moving into a new place and wanted the carpet installed before we moved in. My husband wanted to go with a big store like Home Depot, but I insisted that we be loyal to local business. The prices were a bit higher than what we were expecting, so we chose a mid-​range carpet and scheduled the installation. That marked the last time I would have a positive experience with this place. Here’s what happened:
— A couple of days before installation they came out to confirm measurements and discovered that, since we had an extra small closet in the hallway, we would have to purchase more carpet than expected. That sucked, but it was understandable.
— The guys came to install. Things seemed to go smoothy. My husband was around but didn’t really watch what they were doing since he didn’t want to hover. They finished surprisingly fast.
— It was only after they were gone that we realized they took all of the extra carpet with them (remember, this was additional yardage we had been charged for!) My husband was just relieved to have it done and so decided not to call about it. Plus, he reasoned, where would we store it? I was upset and felt that we should at least be given a refund for whatever they took back with them, especially since the store has rolls of extra carpet stacked in the back that they sell. I’m now wondering if they intentionally scam customers in this way and then resell to others for a big profit.
— About a week after move in we noticed that the carpet was already coming up around the door of my bathroom. We called the store and they quickly came out to fix it. Great service!
— A few days later, we notice that several spots of the carpet have a noisy «crunch» sound when we step down in that spot. This is true for both bedrooms. I quickly realize that the people who installed it must have put down tape instead of securing the carpet with glue or some other more permanent adhesive. I call the store. First, I’m questioned as to whether I’m making up the whole thing and told that I’m probably hearing my wooden floorboards. Since my floors are concrete that just made me angry. Finally they send someone out to fix it. Sure enough, tape. Packing tape. It must have been used to put down the carpet pad all over the condo but was only torn up in the areas I complained about. Note that the guy just tore it up — he didn’t use anything to replace the tape to hold the carpet pad together. Also, in our two rooms the size of the carpet pad should technically have extended from wall to wall without needing to be cut into various-​sized pieces. I realize when he leaves that we are going to be having more problems.
— Sure enough, just days after the tape is pulled up, the carpet pad separates in one of our rooms. You could feel the concrete through the carpet. To add to our outrage, the carpet is coming up once again in front of my bathroom. We realize that the carpet was cut too short in that spot (later I was told by the store that they cut it too long, which clearly wasn’t the case).
— This time we go to the store in person. I am angry and really just want the owner to agree to tear everything up and at least fully replace the carpet pad, since that seemed to be the main installation error. He says he’ll come take a look for himself, which I appreciated. When he does stop by he sees the problems and says the guy will come fix it. I mention that I’m worried that the installation was so sloppy there may be future problems with the carpet pad. He assures me everything is fine.
— Guy comes back and «fixes» the part where the pad has separated. A week later, a slight separation is back in the same spot. My husband says it’s worthless to continue calling them.
So, I’m sitting here in my new home with carpet that I will probably hate until we can afford to replace it and have a better installation job. I constantly feel uneven spots in the carpet, and a new area has started coming up. We feel defeated and are just planning on riding it out unless a really huge problem occurs. Needless to say, getting new carpeting should not be this awful. I will not return to this business and would encourage you to look elsewhere for carpeting. If you do choose to get carpet from them, watch every minute of the installation and make sure they don’t cut corners.

Forget all the alleged «deals» that places like Empire and Mattress Discounters claim to give you before arriving at the final price — and consuming a lot of your time. If you need mattresses or carpets, go straight to Mr. Shaghaghi at Mattress and Carpet Center. I first met him 13 years ago — his business was new, and I’d just moved to Alexandria. I needed a Queen mattress for a new bed, and was tired of the sales mumbo jumbo at the stores I visited. I explained what I was looking for to Mr. Shaghaghi — he directed me to a perfect set — and the price was lower than anything I’d been quoted. When I decided to install carpet a few months later, I went straight to his store — got great carpet, and great service.
Fast forward 13 years — it’s time to «neutralize» my house as I prepare to sell, and so I need to swap out my wonderful purple carpet. Since I’m now disabled and not driving, I actually called Empire — told them specifically what I wanted — and scheduled an in home appointment. The rep arrived with nothing of interest — even the «best quality» carpet seemed mediocre at best — and he gave me an estimate, after a tortured sales pitch about how he was throwing in upgraded padding, free furniture removal, blah blah. I phoned Mr. Shaghaghi — told him that I was unable to drive to the store — but wanted new carpet. No problem, he replied — tell me what you’re looking for, and I’ll bring over samples. And he did — 3 hours later — bringing exactly what I was looking for, at a price $ 200 less than the Empire estimate, with much higher quality carpet, and without the nonsense sales pitch. The installation 2 weeks later was flawless. And when I phoned last month looking for another mattress, he quickly delivered a new one, and removed the old one — and when I later compared the price with online offerings he once again beat them all.
Unfortunately, it is difficult these days to find a place that delivers good service at honest prices. Mr. Shaghaghi is a rare gem!

This business is exceptional. Initially, they are truly specialists in both mattresses and carpets /​flooring. They have a vast selection of wood flooring, and notably carry the number one rated bamboo on the market. In addition, besides their prices beating the bulk buying warehouse stores, their customer service is second to none. I usually don’t write reviews unless i’m greatly impressed by a business … This business is worthy of a great review.
