Specialties
We are a small general practice law firm with experience in various matters of law — and a history in litigation. But litigation is not always the solution to legal problems. We try to think «outside» the box to solve your legal problems. We don’t do domestic relations matters (divorce, custody disputes, and the like). We don’t do home closings. We don’t do tasks which require a large staff. Otherwise we will try to assist you — or refer you to someone we believe might be able to help you. Because we are a small firm, we can devote personal attention to your matter and the people with whom you deal on the telephone will be the people handling your problem. While we cannot guarantee a certain result (nor can any law firm for that matter), we can guarantee that we will try our best to help you solve your legal problem.
History
Established in 1997.
Mark opened The Byrum Law Offices in Alexandria in 1997 with experience as a Commissioned Officer in U.S. Coast Guard and disability litigation, Dept. of Veterans Affairs disability appeals, and private practice experience in insurance defense litigation, automobile accident litigation, products liability litigation, creditors rights, landlord & tenant litigation, criminal defense, traffic violations (including DWI), and personal injury litigation.
Lesa came to The Byrum Law Offices in 2003 with experience in private practice in construction litigation, regulatory litigation, employment litigation, collections, and Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) litigation.
Since becoming a legal team in 2003, Lesa and Mark have continued to focus their practice in the above matters and have expanded their practice to include personal injury, estate matters, business set-up and advising, and business dispute litigation. We commit to working for you to try to find solutions for your problems.

An interesting fact about Mark is that he is an amateur musician. Mark has been playing stringed instruments since 1965. First, the guitar, then the mandolin, followed by the string bass, and then the 5-string banjo. A few years back his wife (and law partner), Lesa, surprised him with the gift of a resonator guitar, so that has been added to the list of instruments Mark plays. Mark focuses his playing on Bluegrass and Gospel music. The attached photo is of Mark and two friends, Gary and Daryl, playing music at an Independence Day 2010 picnic.
