Kolb Electric

Had a Level 2 car charger installed and had an electrical box replaced. Fast and friendly and tho the charger was bad, they came back out and hooked the new one up and everything is perfect. Spent a few ks because of an electrical box replacement, but thanks to them, we wouldn’t have known that the old box was a fire hazard and yes, we checked and the company that made the box was listed and known fire hazard

Let me begin by saying that the one star that I’m required to give in order to write this review is WAY too generous for this company! Back in May, my 90 yr old neighbor had some what of an electrical emergency and since I was on vacation at the time, she asked another neighbor if he could help her. He decided that the issue was outside of his skill set so he called the clowns at Kolb to come look at the problem. The tech arrived, turned her power off, removed a ceiling light and told her that he would have to return at a later date to reinstall fixture. The entire process too him less than 30 mins. and she was charged almost $ 350. I can appreciate that a company charges a higher rate after hours (it was about 5:30– 6 pm) but to charge a 90 yr old widow, with VERY obvious limited means full price seemed a bit callous to me. So upon my return I reached out to this company inquiring about a discount, senior discount, come on and have a heart discount or whatever they could offer. After a little bit of a run around, I finally was able to get a verbal agreement from «Mike» for a 10% discount, but was told that it would take a month or so to be processed. After about 2 mos. went by without any action, I followed up and was told again that it was in the process. So after another short period of time, I finally reached out to the part owner, Paul Kolb, to which he replied that he would look into it. That was in September. After numerous follow ups I accepted the these clowns are all about Greed. I had thought that the very LEAST, a senior discount would be in order, but not with this outfit. On top of this, after speaking with some former customers and found that they overcharge for ANY job. It’s a shame that this is the level to which a lot of business’s have stooped to, where greed is King at all cost and we just allow it to continue by patronizing these businesses, it as if we’re saying it’s OK. Well, it isn’t ok and I hope the next person that reads this review shares it with a friend or two and that that friend does the same until it gets back to Kolb in such a way where they rethink their practices, by hurting their wallet the same way that they hurt this wonderful woman’s wallet.

Horrible experience! Asked for a quote, tech came out, apparently just to confirm that what I was saying needed to be replaced was indeed needing to be replaced (all he did was look at it). I was sent a bill in the mail for $ 150 and never received a quote despite asking for one several times. I feel like I was scammed. Terrible customer service, will NEVER use them again.

I had Kolb Electric come out to my condo to install two ceiling fans and take a look at other projects that I may decide to do down the line. It took 2 hours for the tech to install the fans and it cost $ 422.50! I was charged the techs rate an extra 30 minutes because he couldn’t figure out how to process my credit card, hello, its a Visa. Anyway, they did a good job but I would look elsewhere for a more affordable electrician.

DO NOT CALL THEM! I didn’t, my condo association did when I called them for a power outage. The association told me that if the cause is from my condo, I should pay and I said OK. It was after hours and I was expecting a high rate. But not that high. The guy spent just 15 minutes and wanted to charge almost $ 400. After negotiating he reduced it down to $ 333 – just to tell me that HE THINKS my Furnace has blown up the fuse. He was not willing or able to check the Furnace. I had to pay another company $ 98 the next day to make sure that indeed it was my furnace. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

Part of the power in my house went out and I called Dominion Power first. They came out and could not find the reason why part of the power was out and told me to call an electrician. I called Kolb Electric and was connected to an electrician who told me exactly what to do with the circuit breakers and solved the problem in 5 minutes over the phone. Thank you, Tony!!! He was great. Professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Will recommend Kolb to my relatives and friends.

We had them come out to install a new cable jack and it was a disaster. Only upside is that the fee was comped after talking to the manager.

I had Kolb Electric install a ceiling fan for me today. The process was very easy. I was able to get a convenient appointment without much notice (and I had to cancel once without penalty), and they called me as promised 30 minutes before they came. I was able to go to work and just come home beforehand instead of having to wait around at home all day. The quote was on par or below other services in the area.
My electrician was Rudy and he was great. Very professional, friendly, and helpful. I have had a lot of unhelpful repair/​installation people at my home recent (cough Comcast cough) and Rudy was such a nice change of pace. He even helped me with another project I was doing on my own, and it was much appreciated. I will definitely be using Kolb in the future and will request Rudy to assist. Thanks so much!

STAY AWAY!!! We called Kolb for our downtown DC home since just the power in part of the house was off. They took payment (~$ 150) said it was Pepco. We called Pepco, they came out a total of 5 times only to confirm that power was good on their side. Then Kolb came out again (they told us no charge if the problem still existed). They still couldn’t diagnose and still sent us a bill!!!
We recommend you call KVS Electric. NO — B.S. They have been great!

I called KOLB electric to install four fixtures in my condo. They had a $ 25.00 off coupon on their website, so I printed it and scheduled an appointment for the work. They didn’t show up. I missed a day of work, and because of a scheduling error, they didn’t have the appointment on their books. That should have been the first sign to call another electrician. It gets worse. Much worse.
An electrician shows up to install the fixtures. Of the four fixtures only one was installed without complications. When the electrician left, I had one pendant lamp hanging at an angle, a ruined finish on my bathtub because he didn’t put any protection in the tub before installing a shower light, and after he left I realized he didn’t install one of the fixtures, but was able to utilize the existing fixture and installed a new trim over it. Great, but I was still charged for installing a new fixture.
The icing on the cake was when I went to pay and was told they would not honor their own coupon. He said it was for emergency service only. The coupon says no such thing.
Bottomline, don’t use this company.

Good service. Reasonable price. I had them come out to fix a switch on an appliance, a wiring problem with a front porch light, and put a new outlet in my closet. They did it all, quickly, nicely and for a reasonable price. (About $ 120 for the entire visit)
