Had the chicken, plantains and green beans. Bangin! Place is clean and service is fast. I live across the street so will def frequent this place.

We visited Pollo King last week on our way back from DC. We typically love Peruvian Pollo al la brasa. We ordered half a chicken, yucca, rice, potatoes, and onion salad. We enjoyed the chicken, yucca and rice but they were not as good as other Peruvian spots in the area. 2.5 Stars. We really liked the potatoes and onion salad 4 stars. The restaurant is order and take back to your seat type of place. The guys behind the counter weren’t very friendly. They seemed bored and held conversations amongst themselves and when we tried to order we felt like we were interrupting. Not the best vibe. 1.5 Stars.

So i’m not sure what happen in the past couple of months, but their yucca and fries are crispy fried and nice now! Definitely giving it an additional star now. However until it still has not surpassed by golden standard to reach five stars. I’m afraid the search for the perfect Peruvian joint in NOVA is still on going. Chicken Fiesta I will find a place as good as you here at home.

sadly I wont be ordering from this place based purely on the delivery service they use. The driver called no less than 4 times, his office called as well because he couldn’t find the house. It should be noted that I am a horrible cook and have food delivered 6 or 7 times a week. The reason we order food in is because it is convenient, its not convenient to have a driver call and ask you to come find him, its even less convenient to have his office call and accuse you of being rude because their driver can’t find you! Let me know when you change delivery services and perhaps we can try the food, I’m so angry and frustrated with tonight’s event that the food is in the trash can!

I’m a fan. First time here. Chicken rice and vegetables. What I really liked is that you can pick from a bunch of different sides. Beans, three different rices, Maduras and other delicious looking stuff. Service was fast and friendly. All for 7 $. Great spot for a quick lunch. Chicken was very flavorful.

Good chicken. Sides average except for plantains. Yucca very generic plantains were awesome. Dipping sauces perfect.

After living in Alexandria and struggling to find a Peruvian chicken place that lives up the what I’ve had at El Pollo Rico In Arlington, I think I’ve found it! El Pollo Ranchero on Richmond highway is great, but not very convenient. Love the options of numerous sides, as well As that they have other entrees, than Peruvian chicken alone. Although, I haven’t tried anything else yet bc the chicken is so good. Twice I’ve been though and had a 15 minute wait to get white meat. That’s my only complaint!

Best Peruvian chicken I’ve ever had!!! The meat is moist and the yuca fries along with the yellow sauce are out of this world… Gotta have it at least once a week

Tried it for the first time today and it was delicious. The chicken was so tender and the seasonings on the chicken was amazing. I am even impressed with the yellow and green sauce. The green packs a little heat but just enough to satisfy. The menu was very diverse and I cant wait to go back and try other items. They even have one of my favorites and that is pupusas. I will be back! :)

My review, in limerick form: There once was a girl from Peru. For eating was something to do. But never to fear there’s food right here. But it wouldn’t belong in Peru. Having nearby pollito is dandy. The sauces are always handy. The platano is cool. But I am no fool. Overall the taste is not candy. Three Stars.

I have lived in the area for almost 8 years and am glad to see a place like King Pollo close by. I pass it everyday to and from work and it was only today I noticed it and decided to check it out. It’s been open for about 10 months so at least it didn’t take me too long to notice. The place is very clean and staff was very friendly. I got the Pollo Saltado and it was delicious. It comes with a generous portion of white rice and fries(but I got the mac and cheese instead of fries). Since the portions are so generous I am able to have it for lunch tomorrow. I will definitely be added this as a place I go to fairly often. I tend to eat a lot of chicken so Peruvian Chicken is right up my alley. Can’t wait to try some of their other entrees.

Yummy! I eat here at least once a week. The chicken is seasoned so nicely. I love the yellow sauce and end up getting an additional 4 before I go. I’m a fan of plantains but I think they fry frozen ones so I do not order those from there. The other sides, however, are good. I’ve had the green beans and side salad.

Checked out King Pollo this afternoon with the family. Disclaimer: I might have been a little biased because I was super hungry! We ordered the whole traditional Peruvian chicken meal. The chicken was great! The skin was well seasoned with great texture. The meat was moist, tender, and flavorful. The meal came with 2 sides and they had plenty to choose from: We had the«fried rice» and the potato salad. The fried rice was ok. I’ve never had fried rice at a Peruvian place and I thought it was a bit odd and I was right. Lol The rice was dry and the veggies were something out of a can. The potato salad was good. Creamy and good flavor. We also ordered a side of plantains(surprised to see them get them frozen out of a bag). Oddly enough this was my favorite side! Sweat and crispy on the outside. I recommend a side of plantain with every meal.

I ordered half a white chicken, yucca, white rice and a pupusa(beans, pork and cheese) on GrubHub. The food took over an hour to get here(GH did inform me of this, so this isn’t a complaint :)), but was relatively warm when I got it. I had a bite of rice — overcooked and a little dry. Next was the yucca — tough and not very light or crunchy(undercooked?), kinda stringy and chewy. Slaw — AMAZING. Pupusa — pretty good, excellent with the slaw. Yellow sauce — ok. Green sauce — crap. The chicken needs a longer description: first off it was very dry. The skin was not crispy but leathery and chewy(I picked it off). The seasonings were not great, and I actually could taste something that reminded me of cardboard. The sauces were not helping this chicken at all and I had to go to the fridge for my own sauce collection. The green sauce was like spicy green pepper. Not jalapeño or any other chili I could recognize, just spicy green pepper flavor. Needless to say, it was a lot of food but I didn’t eat it all. There are much better places such as El Rancho which blows this place out of the water. The only reason I gave 2 stars was for the pupusa and slaw. It’s really a 2.444 star, I just can’t give a third!

Yes! I’m so glad they opened up. I use to have to go to springfield for Peruvian but this is delicious and oh so close to home. Cooks are friendly, place is clean. Nice menu to choose from but I still go only for the Peruvian chicken and they really load your plate not skimpy with the rice or any other sides. Oh did I mention ¼ chicken is only 5.99 verse others places a few dollars more.

I was soooooooo hungry and this was one of the only options that wasn’t already closed(minus fast food options). Even at 930, a good amount of people were inside. The portions are smaller, but the chicken itself was juicy. Usually my bf and I have trouble eating ½ chicken between us two, but we finished it. We are grazers, we don’t care about large portions because we are never able to finish those types of meals. This just shows how much smaller the portions were. The only downside was, that none of the people really understood what I said. I asked for french fries and plantains, but in the end I just waited for them to point and I nodded yes or no. I will come back since the chicken breast ended up being very juicy which can be rare. :)

King Pollo has been around since ’08, and their first location was out in Sterling. They now have 4 locations(Sterling, Chantilly, Woodbridge, and Alexandria). The one in Alexandria recently opened, so I was pretty excited in trying it out(it’s located in the plaza off of Pickett and Van Dorn with Big Bite and Jerry’s). The menu offers items such as Peruvian chicken, sides(white rice, fried rice, beans & rice, beans, green beans, steamed veggies, potato salad, onion salad, yuca, steak fries, plantains, macaroni salad, spaghetti, and salad), entrees(carne asada, carne desilada, bistec ensebollado, pollo a la crema, pollo saltado, chicarrones, etc.), pupusas, soups, subs, salads, breakfast items, desserts, and beverages. My husband had the ¼ dark chicken(leg and thigh); I opted for a side of steak fries and plantains; my husband had the macaroni salad and the fried rice. The chicken itself was juicy and had a nicely seasoned skin. What I really loved as that if you dine-in, you get unlimited aji sauce — oh, yea, babyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! The aji sauce is more mustard-y in flavor, but it’s all good! It complemented the chicken well, and I loved dipping my fries in it, too: D The steak fries and the plantains were pretty solid. The macaroni salad was okay, but it was served warm(intentionally); I wasn’t a fan of the fried rice(as it tasted like chocolate to me!). I was surprised at how much the plate was loaded, as the guys totally was generous with the portions! We also got a cup of horchata which was refreshing — I loved how they were so meticulous in terms of the amount of ice! The horchata itself wasn’t overly spiced. The guys in here are so friendly and sweet, and since the place is pretty much new, it’s very well-lit, bright, and cheery in here. I’m glad I was able to check this place out and wouldn’t mind coming back here to get my Peruvian chicken fix as it’s close by! :D +juicy Peruvian chicken +unlimited aji sauce when you dine-in :D +crispy and decadent plantains +generous portions! +friendly and sweet employees! :D
