Halstead Tower by Windsor

What a cool apartment with some amenities at the top floor. The roof top pool, gym, golf practice spot, movie theater, office,… Free tasty coffee at the entrance. Also they have a shuttle bus.
But they are pricy and do not have many big rooms more than 3LDK.
I was waiting for s chance for a while but gave up eventually.

We lived in this property from November 2012 until September 2015. One of the biggest draws for us was the close proximity to Reagan National Airport and the Pentagon City Metro Station. During the week days, the complex provides a free shuttle to the metro station. OVerall, the property is decent. It is relatively quiet and has a good blend of tenants.
If you choose to live here, please be aware that at least 2 – 3 times a month, you will be greeted with the loud noises of the fire trucks coming to one of 2 surrounding buildings. There is almost never a fire, but the local fire departments (Fairfax County and Arlington County) will always send their trucks.
After we submitted our 2 month notice expressing our intent to vacate, I was quite surprised to see that the going rate for our unit was significantly less than our renewal rate. Guess the property values new tenants more than existing ones…

One thing I don’t like is not enough storage space. you can rent storages for extra charge though.
The staffs are really nice.
Oh, the location is not great but they have free shuttle buses on weekdays.

We have lived here since May 2014 and we absolutely love it here! We were brand new to the DC area when we were looking for places to live and this place was a great find.
The staff is very accommodating and the apartments are definitely top of the line. Even more, they are very dog friendly, which was on the top of our list when we were looking for apartments. There are numerous designated areas for dogs to relieve themselves complete with doggy bags. In the fall when the building closes the rooftop pool, they open the pool to all the dogs in the building for a puppy paddle.
As far as price, you definitely get what you pay for. Our apartment has stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, waterfall shower heads, large living spaces and an in unit washer and dryer. Anytime we have a maintenance request, it is fixed within 24 hours if not the same day. Also, having a concierge for the first time has been great. Especially when it comes to getting any packages. Also, they have doggy treats at their desk. :) One of the amenities that we use every day is the metro shuttle. While the apartment is a couple miles from the nearest metro, it does offer free shuttle service Monday through Friday. This is great for commuters! The leasing office offers a deal for active duty service members.
We will continue to rent at Halstead Towers until we are ready to buy.

This apartment is hands down one of the best I have ever lived in, My husband and I have had nothing but great experiences, and love working with the leasing agents. All of the employees are extremely friendly and willing to help. The apartment complex is constantly being maintained– and everything is state of the art. We would recommend Halstead Tower by Windsor to anyone without reservation.

Communication: Needs to separate «Urgent and Important» matters from «Notices of Suggestions»
Recommendation: Use a more formal method (letters, emails, phone calls, etc) for the Urgent and Important matters and Your Flyers for Notices of Suggestions. Make sure you reach your intended residence. Be reminded that folks travel and or may be sick and shut in, so it is impossible for a posted flyer to reach everyone.
Response: Notifications are put in the elevators, on the bulletin board in the mailbox area as well as door to door. The door to door notices are for very important items.
G1 Door Open Access: Door at G1 Garage level needs interim fix until permanent resolve is in place (right now there is open access to anyone)
Recommendation: Install temporary lock or hire security for garage
Response: The fire officials have met with Marcy several times in regards to the Halstead Tower. They stated that the door from the garage to the stairwells cannot be locked due to the fire code, this includes Fob access.
Building Ventilation System: Entire building needs ventilation system cleaned. Black Soot oozing out of ventilation filters/​systems in many residence units from the kitchen to bedrooms (including in the garage)
Recommendation: Clean vents; have the entire building’s system cleaned.
Response: The maintenance team change the apartment filters at least twice a year if not more. We are in the process of checking on cleaning out the HVAC rooms as cleaning the HVAC vents is not common practice.
Fire Pit: no instructions and no fire extinguisher nearby
Recommendation: Provide instructions and a fire extinguish in proximity to the fire pit. In addition, the Fire Marshall is happy to periodic provide instructions «WARNINGS guidelines that must be adhered to when dealing with gas, electricity, and how to use a fire extinguisher and what to do in the event of a fire.
Response: We are installing a fire extinguisher near the fire pit. It is currently on order. In order to use the fire pit you must stop by the concierge desk to pick up a key. To operate the pit you insert the key and turn. We are in the process of typing up directions to give to residents when they pick up the key.
FYI: All apartments will have fire extinguishers in their apartments this summer. More details will be sent to each resident.
Hot water: the frequency and limited supply of hot water
Recommendation: Have a certified plumber inspect the temperature. (At times of max. usages times)
Response: In the past there have been hot water issues within the building, but at the present time there are none.
LOUD NOISE IN PLUMBING LINE: Each time I use my shower and or flush toilet, there is a very loud sound that ceases once I change the direction of the water flow of shower and once toilet completes flushing. This is the case with other tenants on the first floor.
Recommendation: Repair pipes, plumbing in these units
Response: We have had plumbers come to the property to look into the pipe vibrations. They have given suggestions that we have implemented, but the problem has continued. Recently they gave us another suggestion that we are testing in a tier. If this works it will be implemented throughout the community.
Fitness Center: Periodic inspections. Total Nautilus equipment is unsafe, noted disconnected and frayed cables. «DO NOT USE» (See attachments) Nothing Attached.
Recommendation: Repair or Replace equipment with better quality, high usability total gym or close fitness center until this is resolved.
Response: Recently we have hired a fitness company to perform quarterly checks on the equipment to ensure they are working properly. The only issue with the machines currently is the headphone attachment to a TV. We have ordered a part and it will be installed as soon as we receive it.
«How to manual»: leasing neither agents nor concierge service knows how operate the fire pit, media center, etc.
Recommendation: Distribute a systematic Halsted Community Manual with instructions and guidelines for all community amenities which resident use.
Response: This is a good suggestion and the team will work on it over the next few months. If there are questions regarding operation of certain items it is best to contact the office for clarification.
Garage Entry Sign: Is not noticeable, that is visitors cannot see it. Halstead visitors instead accidently park in X-​Sport gym parking garage and have to pay $ 5 to $ 10 to get out of their parking garage.
Recommendation: Replace garage entry sign with a more noticeable sign
Response: The garage sign is new, but is the same size as the previous sign that was installed when the building was built. It is important for the residents to instruct their guests where to park. If someone does park in the wrong garage there is a 5−10min. forgiveness time where someone can l
