Gibberman Dental

I recommend Gibberman Dental to anyone who asks me about local dentists. I have had my fair share of shady dental experiences and this place exceeded all of my expectations. I never have to wait when I arrive for my appointment, they have all of the latest technology, and they are family friendly, so my kids are seen as well. I am thoroughly pleased with this office, although I was sad to see Dr. Tsai go. Everyone is accommodating and friendly. All the thumbs up!

We’ve been visiting Dr. Gibberman’s practice for about 10 years now, and it is always a positive experience (even when something is wrong with our teeth!) We never have any doubt that whatever treatment is being proposed is because it’s absolutely necessary. He uses the latest gizmos so we can see on a TV screen precisely what the problem is. He is very thorough, friendly and professional… as are all the hygienists and office staff we’ve known over the years. They all take the time to explain everything! They manage their appointments very well, since I don’t think we’ve EVER had to wait more than a few minutes. In fact the last time I went, the hygienist was standing in the door way waiting for me!

I would not trust this practice with anything more than basic dental hygiene. Teeth cleaning, nothing more.
I had a visit in December 2013 for a cleaning, whereby Dr. Gibberman examined me and said molars that had been missing since I was a kid were affecting my bite putting other teeth in jeopardy of loss. This concerned me, even though other dentists in recent years had told me my teeth were stable, my bite was what it was and never mentioned any likelihood of losing other teeth. So I went to the periodontist as recommended, and dr. Gibberman and his aide Lina worked up an estimate for me to do 2 bridges when I went back for my second visit the end of January. Invoking her 30 years in the business and in depth knowledge of insurance companies in general, my insurer Delta Dental specifically, and my excellent policy and the treatment required, I could expect to pay $ 4000, give or take. I said I needed to discuss with my wife whether we could swing that, and I went home. Within an hour Lina called me at home and said that she had good news, they would submit to the insurance company the «extra material» required by the larger of the 2 bridges and they would pay it or not, but that would in effect lower my estimated cost to $ 3000, give or take (give or take as defined by a couple of hundred dollars). I said it was good news indeed, please submit to the insurance company and let’s get the exact figure, but if she was correct, I could swing that, even if it meant taking advantage of the financing she recommended to me (zero interest if paid in full within one year).
So I wait, expecting to hear from the insurance company or the dentist within 2 – 3 weeks. I get no information in this time so I follow up and am told they are still working with the insurance company, but my copay was quoted back up to $ 4000, give or take. I questioned this, and asked what happened to the $ 3000 copay «good news» Lina called me about, but was told to wait for the insurance company for an exact figure.
To get to the point, they were going back and forth with my insurance company, submitting for more money, specifically a $ 1225 line item they submitted was incorrect according to «the lab» whoever that is and they resubmitted for $ 2550. This is an error of 100%. So, I waited, called again, waited some more, and this week called to ask what was going on, and was told that the insurance company lost a fax which was why this was taking so long. I called the insurance company and they said they had lost nothing, that instead a submission for $ 2550 was received ³⁄₂₇ for $ 2550 but with inadequate documentation. They were waiting for resubmission. This is April 10^th 2014 when the insurance rep is telling me this on the phone. I call Lina back, same day, and she said the Delta Dental rep lost the documentation and they we at fault. I should have final resolution by next week, be patient.
So today, Friday April 11, 2014, the day after talking to a Delta Dental rep and Lina from Gibberman what do I find in my mailbox? A paper copy of my x-​rays from December, a copy of a check dated yesterday payable to Delta Dental for $ 61 as a refund for payment for my consultation and a letter saying they would be discontinuing all professional dental care within 30 days after the receipt of the letter.
I would not want to have to look a patient in the eye after that fiasco either. I will let the reader deduce for themselves what took place while I waited to be contacted. Remember, I saw these people exactly twice. My belief, my firm belief, is that because they could not get enough money from the insurance company, they would not honor their estimates to me (any of them) and so they simply DROPPED ME AS A PATIENT.
I would not recommend them to anyone who needed anything more than a cleaning because they completely violated my trust and then sent me on my way when they couldn’t get what they wanted from Delta Dental and they knew I wouldn’t pay out of my own pocket for their mistakes. Now I don’t know whether I actually have a tooth in jeopardy, or not, and I am not invited back for regular cleanings which is all I ever really wanted from them in the first place. Of course, after this mess I wouldn’t even let them clean my teeth after seeing how they operate. Beware.

Absolutely superb. From the front office to the two dental hygienists I dealt with to Dr. Gibberman himself, everyone was top-​notch, very friendly and very professional.
A superbly run practice. Totally recommended to anyone without reservation.

This is a consistently outstanding dental practice headed by an extremely knowledgeable and courteous dentist surrounded with the best hygienists and office staff. Clean, professional, efficient, gentle, they explain everything to you and even ask you to ask them questions!
If Heaven had a dentist’s office… it would be Gibberman’s!

Young, attractive staff — -There’s an element of embarrassment that comes over you when you have a strapping, young, handsome dentist reprimanding you for not having your wisdom teeth taken out awhile ago and for not visiting the dentist as regularly as suggested. Why couldn’t he just be old, senile, and scrawny?!
Dr. Tsai and his assistant Maria eased my fears and made me happy that I chose Gibberman Dental.

I’m one of those people who absolutely love going to the dentist. Call me weird, call me sick, but it’s true: I look forward to my bi-​annual visits. It could be that I am usually cavity-​free and also feel so liberated post-​cleanings, but it’s mostly because Gibberman Dental is the best practice I’ve dealt with. And trust me, I’ve dealt with many as I was once a metal-​mouth.
Prior to being a patient of Dr. Paul Gibberman, I was going to a practice that did not have dental hygienists. I actually accepted this as normal and just let my dentist clean my teeth. Boy, I had not lived. If you’re not familiar with how a proper dental practice should operate, just know one thing: make sure there are dental hygienists! They are the ones who thoroughly clean your teeth prior to the exam whereas a dentist would do it all, which means the teeth cleaning portion may not be as thorough. At Gibberman Dental, my dental hygienist is Evelyn and she is absolutely amazing! She is polite, soft-​spoken, meticulous, and attentive. She has a great memory, so even though I see her only twice a year, we pick up where we left off in conversation. She even asks me how my parents are doing every time I see her and I appreciate that type of thoughtfulness.
The things said about Evelyn can also be said about Dr. Gibberman himself. He is a veteran in this field, so he has seen it all and can best assess the condition of your teeth. Moreover, the practice has state-​of-​the-​art technology, including an in-​mouth camera. Don’t understand what the heck your dentist is talking about? All good — he’ll show you what and where on the hanging LCD.
Because of this great service, there can be a bit of a wait for appointments, but nothing unreasonable. His front desk staff is extremely kind and accommodating. I’ve had to cancel a same-​day appointment and was able to do so with no fee or hassle. In my past, I’ve had to pay a $ 50 fine for cancelling an appointment (ludicrous). The thing that separates Gibberman Dental from other dental practices is they reach out to their patients via e-​mail, postcards, and newsletters. Before any appointment, you will receive an appointment reminder e-​mail requesting confirmation in addition to a postcard to put on your refrigerator. In a recent newsletter, I was informed that for the third year in a row, he has been recognized as one of the Top Dental Professionals in Washingtonian Magazine. Well-​deserved.
Whenever a friend or co-​worker complains about having a bad dental experience, I’m quick to pass out Gibberman Dental’s business card. I hope he doesn’t retire anytime soon.
Note: They moved to a new office along LRT, so there is now an elevator (Dr. Gibberman wanted to accommodate the elderly) and brand-​spanking-​new exam rooms!

Went for my first cleaning here today and had Amanda as my hygienist — she was great. Very knowledgeable and friendly, and my teeth felt great when she was done. Then Dr. Tsai came in and reviewed my x-​rays with me (making sure I saw the cavity he saw) and then actually looked in my mouth for several minutes, which I think is more time than I saw my last dentist in four visits combined. He seemed very competent and I got the feeling that he really knew what he was doing, but was also careful enough not to rush or be careless. All in all, about as good as one can hope a dental visit can be!

I’ve been going to this practice since 2001. Love them all! The service is excellent and they always make me feel welcome & cherished.

This is a clean, organized and super professional office with a very friendly and warm staff. I took my 3 year old girl for her first cleaning and I was so impressed by the patience and sincerity of the hygienist who cleaned her teeth. My child was able to enjoy the dentist! When it was all over, they gave a her a great goodie bag and even blew up a latex glove with a face drawn on for her. She had a blast and Mommy was happy :)
Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Gibberman’s office for you and for your little ones!

Just went to Gibberman Dental for the first time yesterday. I actually was assigned to Dr. Jack Tsai. First thing, the overall appearance of the office and the attitude of the staff was on point. The original purpose of my visit was to get a regular check up and cleaning, as well as, a consult for invisalign. Dr. Tsai made me feel VERY comfortable, as well as the hygienist who cleaned my teeth. Although they were obviously very busy, they both took the time to see to it that all of my questions were answered and concerns addressed thoroughly. While reading my x-​rays, Dr. Tsai found a large cavity between two of my molars that my last dentist (see my review of Dickson Dental, Alexandria VA) missed or \simply ignored. Dr. Tsai took the time to show me on the x-​rays exactly what he saw and why it was of concern. Instead of asking me to come back another day and have the filling done, they offered to fit me in later that afternoon. Although getting dental work done is never fun, Dr. Tsai did everything in his power to make sure that I was comfortable and even allowed time to take breaks for me to regain my composure during the procedure. Dr. Tsai did not attempt to get me to purchase invisalign; instead he referred me to a wonderful orthodontist (for a free consult) to help him decide if I would be a good canidate for clear braces vs. traditional. His priority was to make sure that I recieved the correct treatment vs. making money for his practice. I truly enjoyed my experience with Dr. Tsai @ Gibberman Dental and will with 100% certainty return.

I picked Dr. Gibberman after looking at online reviews, health grades, etc, plus they take BCBS. I was able to make an appointment for a cleaning pretty easily, and when I arrived there was no wait to get into the chair. The office is bright and clean, giving off a reassuring vibe.
During my first visit they took a bunch of x-​rays as a new patient, and after the hygienist did her work Dr. Paul did his check over, gave me a few recommendations about my concerns, and we chatted briefly.
Fast forward a couple of years, and I’m still going here for regular cleanings/​exams. I’ve only gone for cleanings so I can’t vouch for any procedural work but I’ve been pleased with the cleanings, although they’re not as gentle as my dentist back home :/​
Overall, I’d recommend trying them out. It’s a great location in the Fox Chase shopping center next to the Harris Teeter, and the receptionist and staff are always courteous. I believe there’s actually two dentists, Dr. Paul and his nephew, and they like you to stick with one so you might want to pick one during your first appointment (if you have a preference). Also they are hooked up with a reminder service that can seem vicious in the weeks leading up to your appointment but I’m guessing you can adjust the settings if you call the receptionist but it’s good if you’re forgetful.
