Eclectic fun mix of things for your home! Not as big as the old Upscale Resale, but glad to know there is more a less a replacement.

I was impressed. High-​quality items and fair prices. I bought a nice pair of lamps on my first visit. They had nice paintings and dining room tables at fair prices.

I often visit different antique shops for silver dimes and half dollar coins. I have to say this is one organize antique shop, they have a good selection of everything, it is clean and plenty of parking spaces. I’m some what surprise to see many young workers here, they are respectful and friendly. I will come back more often.

In general:
–You will find some «designers/​artists inspired» items.
–Good mid century modern pieces.
–Their vintange jewelry is problably some of the best I ever seen.
–Good in vintage garden items.
–Some of the items in the store are hit or missed.
–Excellent condition modern lighting.
–Excellent for a budget conscious person.
–Their staff is really helpful.
Tips:
–If you don’t know the store layout… have plenty of time.
–After few times you been there you developed your own «way around».
–Be sure to look up… you will find interesting lamps and art.
–YES…go to the back right corner. This guy have interesting art pieces.
Recommendation to the store;
Will be beneficial to share the knowledge with the young staff of the business at hand. On one occasion, I saw a «Campbell’s Soup Cans» Andy Warhol inspired art. The 20’s year old didn’t know, in fact it pointed out «I never saw the picture, I don’t know who Andy is». I want to clarify this is nobody’s fault. But if the employees are representing the business, they should be familiar with their branding…“Evolution Home” and feel proud as a one-​on-​one customer service. Just my humble observation/​opinion.
Recommended, 4*… will come back.

I started coming here when they were in their previous location on Mount Vernon Ave. in Del Ray. I wish they were still there since it was only two blocks from my apartment, and I loved to stop in on the weekends just to wander through and browse.
The nice thing about the new space is that there seems to be more room, which means there is more to browse but you don’t feel overwhelmed with clutter like you can in other stores. They have lots of different dealers that are selling their wares, so the prices can range from steals to … well, let’s just call it «I’m just not willing to pay that much.» Some of the dealers are open to negotiating, and the floor staff can call them to see if they’ll take a lower price, so don’t be afraid to ask.
I’ve bought paintings in beautiful frames, cast iron wall hooks, and decanters. On my last visit, I managed not to spend any money, but only because I was helping a friend who bought three paintings, five mirrors, and some burlap curtains.

This evaluation is of Evolution Homes Consignment services only. I dropped off twin beds to be consigned last summer. I was told that they would store the beds until they had space on the floor for them and then would notify me when they went out on display. I checked in with them awhile later and they still hand’t been put out. I just called them today and discovered that they were put on display in November, but I was never notified. They have 2 weeks left before they are transferred to Evolution Homes inventory. It is a good thing I called when I did because I may have never seen them again. Unfortunately I don’t have much time to collect them since I will be out of town on their «expiration» date. If you are thinking of consigning furniture, I recommend you do so elsewhere.

I’m not into antiquing, just visited this store out of curiosity. I liked the items they had. Of course, the store had that stale odor typical of antique stores. The prices seemed reasonable for a typical antique store. If I were into antiquing, I would return.

Evolution Home is great. They have both consignment and dealer stuff in their gigantic showroom. It is clean and orderly and beautifully laid out. It is pleasant and easy to browse the many dealer areas. Consignment prices drop regularly so if you are willing to take a chance on losing an item you might get a great bargain. Prices can be good anyway. They have furniture, old hats, crockery, china, glassware, jewelry, and more. It is fun and fascinating to shop there and the staff is friendly, helpful and will load your car.

This place felt more like a garage sale than an antique store. It was so cluttered and there are so many used, raggedy items in here. Also, it feels like there is no air conditioning in there! It was just like being in a garage sale.

I am a big fan of this place, and that’s coming from someone who really hates antique shopping. It’s huge and there is a wide variety of merchandise at different price points. I personally really like the art dealer in the back right corner — you can find some really nice art at a steal — I’ve gotten beautiful pieces for as low as $ 3.50. There is a bunch of nice furniture too but since I’m not a huge furniture connoisseur I’m not sure whether the prices are reasonable. I’ve always had friendly interactions with the staff there — the art guy has marked down pieces for me without me asking! Overall, definitely worth a browse.

I would NOT recommend consigning with Evolution Home. As a consignor, I experienced continual issues. They offered to pick-​up my furniture, and quoted a price of $ 500. I told the owner that the condo association has a strict policy on the time reserved for the freight elevator. Lee, the owner’s husband, rents a box truck, and hires day laborers, arrived 4 hours late, leaving only 2 hours to load an entire apartment inventory. Moreover, one of the laborers hired did not show-​up. Further, the only moving items were the ones provided. Therefore, I had to help move my furniture, and provide a hotel cart, dollies, and other moving supplies. We finished loading within 1 ½ hours, meeting the 1pm cut-​off time. Lee was surprised that I would not pay him the full-​price of $ 500.
I contacted a local Penske truck rental for a quote on a 16′ box truck for a 24-​hour period, local move on a weekday. The fee is $ 39.99, less the AAA discount, plus .99 cents per mile. It is 15 miles round-​trip from your warehouse to my unit. A 1 ½-​hour move, plus the rental of a 16′ box truck, and labor did not warrant a $ 500.00 fee. The fee of $ 200.00, a $ 20.00 tip, supplies, and the value of my time and labor is adequate.
This is Lee’s comment about the above, «That should have been my first clue as to what a pain in the ass you’d be to deal with.»
I also provided EH with a detailed Excel spreadsheet on the items consigned with a hyperlink to comparable items posted on the Internet. In addition, I provided custom-​photos with the specifics of each item. There was a significant discrepancy with what was entered into the EH system. EH did not research the market value, as they were unable to sell a majority of my items. I even authorized an additional 10% discount. Further, a consigned item was a wooden file box that sat on a metal black stand. The description and the photo I provided accurately depicted that. EH separated the items, and marketed the black stand as a table. Then, they sold the wooded file box without the stand, even though I pointed out that the the items went together. I asked that they contact the customer and offer the base at no additional charge. EH told me that they did not have the customer information, and someone will buy the base and a piece of glass for the top. That is not how I do business.
As for marketing your consigned items, EH does not provide that service. Their Facebook page is for decorating ideas. The newsletter EH has folks sign-​up for, it does not exist. They do not even post on Craig’s List. I advertised myself on Craig’s list.
Requesting timely reports on the status of your inventory is not part of EH’s business practice. Receiving a check for the items sold is a struggle. I am still waiting for a final check promised two weeks ago.
I would rate EH five stars for the number of emails the owner Susan Driscoll-​Blount sent. «I do apologize that the check was sent to your old address. I am equally frustrated that this has happened.» This is one of many.
I have all the correspondence, and documentation to substantiate what I have said. It has been a six-​month ordeal, and all I want is my final check for $ 75.

Exellent customer service. They have tons of beautiful (mostly used/​refreshed) furniture at reasonable prices. Bought a hat last week that everyone at work has complimented me on. Huge store. Fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

I ventured into this place on a whim. It was right down the street from a few thrift stores so I figured why not.
After reading the reviews I knew it also carried newish type stuff. But what I wasn’t prepared for was almost a complete lack of «antique» items save a handful of booths.
Most of it was newer shabby chic & kitschy type stuff you’d find at upscale home & garden boutiques.
Nothing struck my fancy as it was a little on the high side of pricey. Seems like a good place if you want to consign your items.
Had a question about an item but the staff was MIA or too busy plugging away at the computer.
The only pro to this place is the one vendor that specializes in Mid Century Modern furniture. It was expensive but in excellent condition.
I don’t think I’ll make a special trip out to this place but I might pop in if I was in the area.

Its like a museum where you can actually buy and touch stuff. Great addition to Alexandria! This store has all the pieces you find in Old Town minus the small cramped spaces and ample parking. The staff is great and when possible you can negotiate prices down. They have everything here! Furniture, jewelry, decorations, china, books, even some old school electronics.
This is a great place to go on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Plan on spending at least an hour or two just browsing. Be aware, some of the things are antique and others are not. But the prices on the items will pretty much indicate which is which.

I used to go to Evolution when it was on Mount Vernon Ave (formerly Potomac West Antiques), and I’ve continued to shop at the current location. My main issue – and I was hoping it would change when they moved – is the smell. If you have any allergies to dust or mold, stay far away. Yes, it’s a vintage shop and vintage shops often have a smell, but I always leave wheezing.
As for the antiques themselves, I’ve found some amazing pieces that I’ll keep forever. The selection of mid-​century furniture is particularly excellent, but not overpriced. I’ll continue to shop at Evolution, but not as often as I would if it didn’t set off my allergies.

You’re bound to find something special here. I didn’t find something today, but I’ll be back soon to continue my search. Prices are surprisingly reasonable for Alexandria.

Evolution Home was a pleasant surprise when I visited last Thursday. I hadn’t expected much based on the location and the semi filled parking lot.
Although, I miss rummaging through racks to find that hidden treasure; it is nice to walk into a store where they’ve already done that work for you.
One of the gentleman who was showing customers around explained that the business use to be located in the Del Ray part of Alexandria. The building with their business was sold and they decided to relocate. I think. It is safe to say Del Ray’s loss is Huntington’s gain.
The store reminds me of how a interior design center is set up. Each space is set up like little rooms with a theme centered around them.
I will be back when their consignment shop and/​or expanded furniture space is open (in a couple of weeks).
The prices (from the pieces I looked at) are reasonable for vintage, consignment or used items. Do not expect to go into this place of business to find thrift store like prices. They’re prices are not dirt cheap because their selling items of a higher quality than what you might find in a thrift store. However, the price of their furniture and other home goods is cheaper (and in my opinion has more character) than brand new pieces.

A bright beacon of hope shines in Alexandria for all you junkers and antique dealers out there. Perched on top of the hill is a shining neon green star known as, Evolution Home Antiques.
Mind you, this place is still accumulating matter and is in the early phases of star formation. Soon, this Evolution will become part of the antique constellation frequented by all those who claim the old as something new.
From meemaw to pappaw, from gentlemen to mad men, for the masculine to the feminine, for the countrified to the citified, to the ladies who love tea and for those who love teak, this place could become your next junking paradise.
The main room is currently housing dealers selling their goods, but in the coming months another showroom area will be receiving and selling consignments. So, visit now but plan on coming back soon to find your diamond in the «junk.»
Evolution had a good turnout for opening day despite the limited publicity. I stopped by to see Acme Mid-​Century Modern’s gear and hoping I’d bump into Don Draper himself. I’ve seen their smaller store in Old Town, but came here to see more product in a wider space.
As I walked through the isles, I realized that Don Draper wasn’t coming…
