I shop a lot on Ebay, consignment, and at outlet retailers such as Saks. This store is way OVERPRICED… Higher than retail for used clothing. Saw a Chloe dress for $ 900! Gap pants for $ 52! Really… When you can pick them up for $ 20. NEW? You can tell that her inventory doesn’t move. And, spotted a FAKE CHANEL jacket for $$$. Not even worth visiting that store. There are so many others in Old Town to see

From the seller side: I consigned some gently worn items – very nice clothing with mid-​end labels. I never heard a word from the shop. No accounting, no contact, nothing. Poor business people. I’ll not shop there again.

Way overpriced! The shop owner was friendly but items are priced much, much higher than used items should be. Definitely for the mature shopper. Nothing young and trendy.

The good: well organized, well curated, friendly owner. The racks are filled but not stuffed.
The rest: appeals to a more mature clientele. Also, while there are sales, I found that on a whole, the prices were too high. A few things that I admired included a St Johns sportswear twinset at $ 600, a salvatore farragamo scarf $ 225, and some adorable red kate spade heels at $ 195. This is a very high rent area, but for last years styles, used… I can do better catching a nordstrom sale at pentagon city…

Yeah, I’m not really understanding the pricing strategy of this store. They carry some beautiful pieces, but my goodness what’s the use of buying a used item at a new price. They need to slash the price of each item by AT LEAST 50% and then maybe I’d go back. The merchandise was also for an older crowd. Maybe they can pay those prices. There are way better consignment shops to visit in the area if you’re looking for a deal.

This shop is HIDEOUSLY overpriced. I’ve never seen any consignment shop price quite like this one does…
$ 300 for Kate Spade heels when the retail is about the same?
$ 160 for Söfft heels when they are $ 120 and no more at Nordstroms?
$ 80 for a pair of LL Bean flats when the retail on their website is $ 69?
$ 70 for a cute little scarf with no brand or material composition tags?
Haha. Nice try. Whoever is doing their pricing either has no idea or is intentionally overpricing items for unsuspecting customers.
Quite a lot of old lady clothes/​shoes such as St John (and a bunch of others i had never heard of) that are very dated. Hardly any young trendy brands such as J crew, Milly, Trina Turk etc. The sizes are skewed towards the size 8 and up range so selection in smaller sizes is quite limited.
Young professional ladies are quite brand and price savvy and aren’t interested in brands that are consigned by more mature and conservative women. Mint condition and Diva boutique just a few blocks up have a far better priced selection of brand clothing.

I wonder if this place actually manages to sell stuff, because it was pretty empty the two times I went in. And for a consignment shop, it’s pretty darn overpriced. When they thought I was going to buy something, they treated me nicely, but when I went in there to consign, they treated me hastily and in a very passive-​aggressive manner. They also keep track of their merchandise using the old-​fashioned way– calculator, clipboard, and writing instrument.

As a first time shopper at Encore I was very surprised. This shop is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside, and has a great selection of Escada, St John, etc. There were even Hermes scarves and an adorable pair of Chanel boots! I appreciated how organized the store was. I also love, love, love antique and vintage jewelry, which there was a ton of. I think this is a great consignment boutique and recommend stopping by.

This is a nice, well organized shop with a very friendy, helpful owner. I am suprised to be the first to review. Things are organized by color and size which makes it easy to navigate.
The reason I only give it 3 stars is because most items are overpriced, I am guessing because the average consigner (Carlise, Escada, St. John afficiando’s) expect a higher return for the items they bring in. (These are previously worn clothes people– it’s not our problem you spent $ 3,000 on a suit at Saks or Neimans and only wore it one season). Unfortunately this results in items hanging on the racks for months– and then by the time an item you like gets marked down to a more reasonable price– it often doesn’t look that great.
That said, they do often offer «25% off» everything, but that is because things are priced too high to begin with. They should take note of their neighbors — Mint Condition, Diva, and new to Old Town– Current Boutique– fairer prices = quicker turnover = fresher selection = happy customers.
The hours are limited but definately worth a visit– the selection of accessories (new) is really good. Encore is open Thurs-​Sat 11 – 5
