Doctor Painting

Miserable experience. I bought the Groupon in November. Have called, emailed, re-​called this company, and never get a live person, nor a call back.
Avoid this like the plague.

Bought the Groupon. Great deal, right? Meh…
Booked right away after several voicemails, a couple of emails, and the eventual call back. Happy that their busy, but not thrilled w/​the week and a half it took to get it scheduled for then 2 months later.
Since we were not getting an entire room painted and only two walls (not accents or anything special – just paint two walls), the manager who booked w/​us said that they would do a coat of primer and two coats of paint for the same cost – no issue given the significantly reduced surface area.
Day of the appt., the contractor showed up an hour late – unapologetic. Not off to a good start. We ran over the game plan and he refused to do the work since it was outside of the general scope of four walls (at a greater surface area) vs. the two w/​the one additional step (the primer). Note that one of the walls is a 38″ x 9″ segment. Like I said, not much. He called the operator out of frustration who then called me to ask me what I wanted to do. First, I was concerned about his lack of professionalism – showing up an hour late for a job. Second, he was visibly upset and angry w/​the deviation. No chance that someone who is upset is going to kick it around my place to perform a service. Disappointed that the dispatch team did not convey the details to him.
Lastly, Groupon said «tough luck» on this. They tried to get a hold of the business. The Alexandria one is a satellite of the NC one. BBB tried to connect w/​them too. As Doctor Painting promised to call back to schedule w/​me since we had several good conversations leading up to this point, it was their lack of interest, lack of professionalism, and simply just «not giving a damn» that drove the nail in the coffin. They never called back to reschedule. Groupon refunded the cost and were ridiculously apologetic. BBB called and said that while they have hundreds of complaints filed against them, they are not subscribed to the BBB and thus, have no need to comply.
Watch yourself if you are thinking of contracting work w/​these folks.

I called Doctor Painting last week to inquiry about painting one my rooms. They promptly scheduled by appointment for the next week. On the day of my appointment, Doctor Painting called me a little early to say that someone had cancelled and if I was available they could come a little early. My painter show edup with all of the standard supplies, promptly helped me move everything to the middle of the room and put drop clothes all around the border of the room. He completed the job on time, cleaned up after his self and was very professional.

I also bought a Groupon for a 12×4×9 room — and when they arrived they said my small hallway — much smaller than those dimensions in the end — needed two coupons. We went back and forth with different reasons including that the hallway is too long, that it has too many openings, that they will not work for free, that anyone would charge me more, and ended with him saying he was wasting his time and that they have plenty of other clients and leaving with no work being done. I never asked anyone to work for free. I just wanted my one room painted like I paid for. Now they won’t paint my room, and I can’t get my money back from Groupon so we were scammed. The folks on the phone at both companies were not helpful, also offering lots of different excuses for why I need to pay extra for my small hallway vs a room that is actually larger. We are on a budget and waited a while for a good special to come up and now we will be painting it ourselves and are out $ 89 because we refuse to give this unscrupulous company extra money to paint what we already paid for. We are reporting them but I hope word of mouth about how terrible their customer service is will make them change.

I bought a Groupon with this company like most others. I was very happy with them. Granted, I called a long time in advance so scheduling was not an issue. I spoke to them on the phone when I scheduled. About a week before my service, someone called and confirmed. Then, the day before, they called again and confirmed. I mentioned that the room I wanted to paint was larger than I originally anticipated (the Groupon room is a standard 11×14), so they offered to come earlier. They were on time and had great service. After they had packed up, I decided that I wanted another wall painted. They did not complain (even though I KNOW they were ready to go home and the job was VERY minor). They did the job quickly and very well.
No issues on that front! I would expect the reason they book so far in advance is because they do have very competitive pricing.
The only reason I did not give them a 5 is because the person that answered the phone seems to be a little less aware of what is needed. She told me i would need 5 gallons of paint per room! I had no perspective, so i was about to buy 15 gallons of paint. Luckily, the lady at Home Depot stepped in and stopped me from doing that. 5 gallons can cover up to 2000 sf of house, so i was about to buy 6000 sf of paint. They used about 1.5 gallons for the kitchen, living room, and the additional wall.
That said, would definitely use again.

I bought a groupon, made the appointment and waited for 4 weeks, they never showed up. I called and the woman on the phone was very dismissive from the beginning. She said they had confirmed the appointment via text. I asked her what number she used and gave me a completely different number to mine. When I said it was not my number, she said they must have mixed them up.

I was nervous after reading other reviewers so I called to confirm. I also used a Groupon. I also had to schedule about a month out so the closer it got to the date, the more nervous I got.
The painter was a little late but nothing to complain about. His taping prep was spot on. Only one person who painted a very large bedroom and small bathroom and was done in 5 hours. A few minor mistakes but well worth the Groupon I paid for.

I bought a groupon for this company twice. Both times it was to paint a nursery. Both times the guy showed up on time and did a great job. I think I had to wait about a month for an appointment but I was ok with that.

I found them through groupon. It took weeks for them to even contact me after leaving voicemails and emails about scheduling an appointment. When someone finally returned my calls (after contacting groupon for a refund) I scheduled an appointment for today at 0930. I took my pictures off the walls and moved all my furniture in my three story tow home in preparation. At 0922, they call me to tell me that she didn’t know I lived on a military base (although the address I included in the request said ***** AFB) and because the people she sent to paint my house weren’t allowed to legally work she had to cancel the appointment and isn’t sure when she can reschedule me. I would like to be refunded and frankly they shouldn’t be allowed to operate at all, especially with groupon if they’re dispatching undocumented workers to people’s homes.

I purchased a groupon and had to wait almost 2 months from date of purchase to get someone out to paint. The day before they were due to arrive I contacted them to confirm a time. I was told between 9:00 — 9:15. By 9:30 I texted them and asked if we were still scheduled. I did this again at 9:45, 10:00, 10:15 and finally at 10:30 I tried calling again and finally got someone on the phone. She said they wouldn’t be there until 1pm. She said Opps I made a mistake. About 5 minutes later she said they wouldn’t be able to make it until closer to 2pm. After going against my better judgement I agreed to the later time. They didn’t show up until 4:15. When they arrived they wanted me to purchase another groupon saying it was more than 2 rooms. I measured the wall space to make sure it fit into the the 12×14 specifications. They also said I needed primer first which they never mentioned during the appointment call.
This is an awful company with poor customer service. They never offered any type of compensation or complimentary work since I took the day off of work to sit in my house all day waiting for them. I could have gone to work and been home before they arrived. Will never do business with them again.
Luckily Groupon refunded my money!

Contrary to the other reviewers, I had a really good experience with this company. I bought a groupon deal to get one room painted. It did take some time to reach them, but they did call back, and we scheduled a day about a month out. When I told her I was hoping for an earlier date, she called me that same week with an earlier option.
On the paint day, they showed up at the right time (I did call them the day before to confirm), and Mauricio who did the painting did a great job. He was careful to use drop cloths and worked around the bed in the room. He did two even and neat coats of paint, made sure he did the window cut-​out, and when I pointed one or two places where I had concerns he went over them again. He also made sure to clean up after, wiping any little paint specs off the floor. He was professional, efficient and left the room looking really good. I don’t know if I was lucky, but this totally worked for me!

Horrible experience! A job that was supposed to take one day took 3 days. The office manager «lost» my scheduled appointment. On the first day, the painters looked at the rooms that I wanted painted and then the office manager told me the price. She then called me back on the third day and said that I would need to pay more… I felt like I was being blackmailed because my choices were to pay the extra money or have the painters walk away from an incomplete job that I really needed to be finished. Then the office manager insisted that I make out the check to her personally, rather than to the name of the company, which I refused to do. The painting job itself was decent, but dealing with this shady business was a nightmare!

Stay away …
1. The painters failed to show up when they said they would. This was after I’d bought $ 180 worth of non-​returnable paint and moved all of the furniture out of my entire apartment.
2. I had to call several times before they would pick up my calls and was finally able to get them out days later.
3. They got paint all over my hardwood floors, my kitchen cabinets, my sink faucet, and my door handles. It’s a month later and I’m still trying to scrape off the paint they dropped.
