Established in 2005.

At Dash’s, we are passionate about men’s clothing, and we strive to ensure our clients always feel satisfied with the quality, craftsmanship, value, and service we offer. After over 30 years in the industry, I established Dash’s of Old Town in response to the trends I saw in the market — clothiers and department stores were relying on labels to sell their stock and taking advantage of an uninformed public.

Dash’s brings a highly knowledgeable, client-​centric approach to the luxury clothing industry. We procure our entire collection from exclusive American and Italian manufacturers; all our suits are made in Italy and hand-​finished in Old Town Alexandria; and our services provide our clients with a truly unique experience fit for the Gatsby in all of us.

This was definitely a store I’d travel to, just to purchase a suit. My wife and I was browsing through the store and out of all the beautiful suits on the wall, one happened to catch my eye. After over hearing the conversation with my wife, Victor turns around and happens to be wearing the same exact suit!!! He then proceeded to teach us about the cuts, fits, and materials of the suit. This was the perfect experience in men’s clothes shopping, I’d like to get used to! Next time I’m in DC, I’ll make an extra trip to check out what’s new on the racks!

Howard at Dash’s of Alexandria is a true professional in every way. Looking for my sons wedding suit had been a long exhausting venture until we stepped into Dash’s. Howard greeted us with a smile, kind word and a wealth of information regarding Italian made suits. My son wanted to wear a 3 piece suit at his wedding, but apparently 3 piece suits are a Fall/​Winter fashion statement. Howard went out of his way to turn the chosen 2piece suit into a truly magnificent looking 3piece. He knows his stuff !!! His professionalism coupled with a great sense of humor were a welcome change after several days searching at the «typical» suit shops.
Thank you Howard for treating my son and me like good friends and not simply just someone looking for a suit. We truly appreciate the personal attention you so easily provided.

For men who enjoy sartorial pursuits and the art of dressing like a gentleman, Dash’s of Old Town is a treasure in the land of sack suits. Tailored clothing is cut in Italian fashion, and while they have a variety of off-​the-​rack options, made-​to-​measure is their focus. The fabrics they use are beautiful, and the tailoring (done in Italy) is very high quality. Quality comes at a price; rack suits were around $ 1600-​$ 1800, and MTM is only up from there. They also offer a variety of shirts and some very nice ties. The thing I loved most of all was that they were willing to spend time with me and answer lots of questions with no sales pressure at all, which makes me definitely want to come back.

Picked up my second suit and my fourth pair of custom slacks from Dash’s yesterday. Couldn’t be happier! Navy blue suit fit like a glove but the khakis were the star. Who knew casual slacks were supposed to fit like that! If you’re reading this, just go to Dash’s…and listen to whatever Victor and Howard say. You won’t be sorry.

I bought a suit there today during their sale. Super helpful and friendly guy, I wish i could remember his name. Not the owner, but knew his stuff and helped me out quick. I was in and out with an amazing suit half price! Do yourself a favor and go get at least one proper suit from Dash’s.

I’ve never written a Unilocal review before. I was motivated to write this one because of the great service I received at Dash’s. I was in DC for a conference and needed a suit for a couple of interviews. I saw good reviews of this place online and went to check it out. I was treated really well, and found a suit I liked, and they worked really hard to get it altered in time for my interviews (which it was). Thanks so much guys. I’ll be back.

In searching for suit for my wedding i went to almost every department store and shop in the dc area. After stepping into dash’s i knew i had found what i was looking for! The level of service and detail at dash’s is unparalleled to any other shop i visited. My experience with Victor and Howard at the shop was wonderful. I highly recommend dash’s of old town.

It has taken me a little while to post this update. I bought a 2nd suit from Dash’s of Old Town a few months ago during the trunk show and once again I was blown away by the quality. In my previous review I commented on how incredible the suit was, but I felt the level of service had dropped when I picked it up at the shop. That was roughly 2 years ago, and Victor actually remembered me (and my review) when I visited the shop this time. We discussed what happened and realized that it was a simply a misunderstanding on both sides.
I appreciate this approach. Not only did Victor remember the encounter, but he was more than willing to explain fully and work toward avoiding a repeat. This is what makes a small business great. A larger business simply would not care. Victor, however, takes his craft quite seriously and his passion for what he does is very clear.
If you have had a good experience with the larger, off-​the-​rack stores (or even if you haven’t), give Dash’s a try. The quality is worth every penny, and your level of involvement in the relationship is up to you. If you want to simply drop by and pick up a suit, I’m sure Victor can help you. If you want Victor to be more of an advisor/​consultant for your overall look, he can certainly take on that task as well. The overall experienced almost certainly ensured a return visit for my next suit.

So go ahead and add me to the long list of satisfied customers of Dash’s. It was a great experience all the way around! I would recommend making an appointment if you can but I didn’t. I stopped in with my wife and only had to wait about 5 minutes before I was treated to excellent service. I ended up only buying one suit but this is now my «go to» place for suites and sport coats.

Dash’s of Old Town has quite a historic DC reputation. My family has shopped with Victor for years. There is no one quite like him! His reputation as on of the area’s most brilliant stylist/​haberdashers is without compare. One of the best haberdashers in the metro area… and it only gets better. Look: You could go to any number of boring high-​end stores and pay a fortune to have some ill-​fitting box suit aggressively tailored to almost look like a fancy handmade Italian suit…
OR,
You could just go to Dash’s and get an actual piece of master-​crafted Italian finery custom-​made to fit you perfectly.

Went to this wonderful-​looking store and enjoyed trying some things on. However, when the owner came by, the mood shifted quickly. He apparently decided I was not to his liking, was rude to me, and basically told me to leave. Have no idea why this was the case…

I’ve started shopping at Dash’s. It is a jewel that not too many know about. Victor — the owner of Dash’s — is quite a character. In a good way. He has personality. He has tremendous style. He knows what he is talking about when it comes to tailoring and looking good in a suit. I find the quality of the suits to be excellent — and as good as you would find in a Neiman’s, Saks, or Bergdorf Goodman — but at a much reduced price. However, because this shop is a boutique, the selection would not be as broad as what you would find in a traditional department store. However, once Victor knows your style he can custom order almost anything.

I read numerous glowing reviews, made an appointment, and visited with my mind set on purchasing a suit and hopeful of building a long term relationship with a clothier that could tailor custom suits for me in the years to come.
Dash’s did almost everything right. Howard greeted me upon arrival, introduced me to Victor, and they showed me several suits so they could get a sense for my size and preferences. In the course of measurement and discourse, Victor assumed that we had a done deal — even before we had any discussion of price. Perhaps most of his clientele have no concern for price. Unfortunately for both of us, I questioned Victor on the price of the suit and his proposed alterations before handing my credit card to him. His tone and demeanor changed very quickly. He struggled to maintain his professionalism and seemingly resist the urge to throw me out of his store. At one point, he interjected and suggested that further pricing questions was insulting both of us.
I actually had to work to salvage the situation. When I asked for other options at the $ 1,000 price point, he tepidly flipped through a swatch book and showed me his entry-​level fabrics.
I don’t doubt that Dash’s sells very good merchandise, and presents an overall good value. I even purchased a suit and alterations from them. Alas, I’m afraid it will be my last from them. I’ve since found a tailor that has prepared two jackets for me, appreciates my business, and has earned my future business.

My wife and I love Victor and Howard, and when you get to know them, you’ll feel the same way.
I only buy clothes at Dash’s. For your suits, ask for the Luigi Bianchi Mantova line suits. Buying off the rack is great, but Victor’s real specialty is made-​to-​measure suits. Dash’s of Old Town sells more Luigi Bianchi Mantova made-​to-​measure suits than any other store in the world. I learned that when Vicki and I visited the LBM factory in Mantova, Italy, in June 2013.
Victor and Howard have talk me that I should EXPECT my suits to fit, and that it is possible to have them fit perfectly. The cloth choices Victor has to make the LBM suits are plentiful to choose from and extremely luxurious. Also note the high-​end buttons, the incredible workmanship on the suits, etc.
Allow yourself to have the best in this important area of your life.

Place was small but appeared to have an interesting selection of nice clothing. Unfortunately I have to give it a low rating because nobody so much as spoke to me while I was there and I wound up leaving never having even tried anything on.

Victor is the man — plain and simple. If you’re looking for a great fitting, great quality suit, you need to head on down to Dash’s. I started shopping there about 5 years ago when I got tired of the used car sales approach at some other chain stores. The personalized service and attention to detail that has ensued has been great. From the moment I walked in the door Victor was friendly and helpful — taking the time to explain things along the way and work with me to build my business wardrobe. The prices are high, but they are in line with the competition and the quality on the fabrics and tailoring is definitely there.
Bottom line, if you’re in the market for a great quality, great fitting suit and want to have fun in the process — you need to stop in and see Victor!

Victor was the most welcoming and friendly shop owner. He knows everything there is to know about suits: styles, fabrics, Italian v. American cuts and everything you wouldn’t even think of when it comes to the details of buying a custom suit.
I needed a suit for my brother’s wedding, but I’m a chubby so an off the rack suit at Brooks Brothers or Jos. A Bank wasn’t in the cards. We found Dash’s mentioned in Washington Post article and were completely intrigued. We stopped in and he immediately had some options for me and was completely open-​minded and accommodating to my huskier size. Those other places were not.
Victor helped me find the perfect fit for a custom suit and also custom shirts so I’ll look my best on my brother’s big day. My dad was so impressed with the process that he ended up getting a suit too. Victor also has an amazing selection of ties. His shop is aces in my book and I’ll definitely be going back.

Victor is great. I walked in wearing an ill fitting suit and asked for help, and he did just that. He showed me exactly *why* it was ill fitting, and I understood for the first time why I didn’t like wearing suits — all the ones I’ve owned have been junk. He put me into a jacket off the rack just to see how it fit, and showed me what a good fit looked and felt like.
To be short and sweet, it fit perfectly, and felt awesome.
Now, you probably won’t be as lucky as me to find an off-​the-​rack suit from Victor that fits you exactly without a single alteration (other than pants hem), especially during his half-​yearly sale, but it’s still worth a trip to Dash’s.
Since buying the perfect suit (dark navy, btw… the best «first» suit color), I’ve tried on many other brands just to see how they fit. Even a suit that cost 2 – 3 times as much didn’t feel as right as my suit from Victor. Again, maybe I’m just lucky, but who cares? Victor’s suits fit me and look awesome, and that’s all that matters.
I’m secretly hoping for a job where I need to wear suits more often so I can justify a nice dark charcoal suit…
