Buck’s Shoe Repair

I’ve come here a couple of times for several different issues — re-​soling a pair of leather shoes, having my gf’s hiking boot heels narrowed — and every time the owner has done it right, done it promptly, and done it for a fair price. An excellent small business of the sort you can’t find anymore.

I bought a pair of Charles shoes which are crazy expensive. I wore them 5 times in two months and the heels crumbled. By the time I realized it the side part of the heals had taken a bad beating and looked awful. Less than 24 hours later and $ 25 I had a pair of brand new looking shoes. I love this shoe repair.

This is a great little shop with a charming owner who really knows how to treat his customers right. This is old school shoe repair that takes you back to those days when service came with a genuine smile and handshake. I ripped my backpack at the shoulder strap on a trip through Romania and the Ukraine, and I had all but given up hope of ever getting it repaired. On a whim, I stepped into Buck’s and discovered that not only could the owner repair it, but he was able to use a leather patch that meant my backpack was better than ever. So it is off to Malaysia and Indonesia with the six million dollar man of backpacks (we can rebuild him. we have the technology).Now, it’s been a long time since I needed a shoe repaired, but the next time my boots look like they are ready for the landfill, I know where I am taking them.

DO NOT USE BUCK’S!!! I took a pair of heels to him that needed repair, including the heel being filed down. He told me «no problem, Ill make it pretty for you!» I said «okay, but you’re sure you can file the heel down so I can walk in them?» he said «sure no problem don’t worry Ill make it pretty for you!». He charged me $ 45 and wanted me to pay immediately. When I didn’t get my money out fast enough, he repeated «$ 45!» Okay, jeez. I went back to pick my shoes up and they were TERRIBLE!!! He barely filed down the heel and just re-​soled the front pad. I asked him why he wasn’t able to do it, he got VERY defensive and started saying «are you calling me a liar? I DID IT!» Um, no. He didn’t. The heel is an inch longer than the toe piece. He claimed he filed them down but couldn’t go any further because of a metal spike in the heel. I said «okay, thats fine, but why didn’t you just call me then and tell me you couldn’t do it?» No response. I said it again, no response. He just kept getting really defensive as if I was attacking him. I just wanted my shoe fixed. He told me he would try again, and put a thicker pad on the front bit. I asked if that would make it so I could walk in them. He just shrugged his shoulders. I had no choice but to let him try again. I knew he wouldn’t give me my money back. So I went back two days later. He was rude and barely spoke to me, pretended he didn’t know me, practically threw my shoes at me and said nothing. I tried them on right there, HORRIBLE. I told him again I was unsatisfied as I walked out. He ignored me and walked away.
DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE THROWING MONEY AWAY!!! All he wants is your money, he doesn’t give you a receipt so you cant prove what you paid for and believe me, if anything comes out wrong it will be your fault and your problem to deal with!

Fast service, next day repair, clean, and professional Heel tip replacement cost is very fair at below $ 20. The place is a true workshop, with the smells and aspect of constant workload. The guy did a beautiful job with the heel tips. Their location is ideal in the shopping center, which is always bustling with people. I would definitely trust them with my best shoes.

Buck’s has become my favorite cobbler in the DMV! Great quality, friendly service, and reasonable prices.

Bucks did a wonderful job and did the work in one day. While I was in the shop the repairman spoke to other customers, as he did with me, in great detail about what he would do to be sure he and the customer had the same understanding. I was very impressed with the customer service and my Naots are nicely repaired after someone broke the back strap when they stepped on my heel. Definitely a five star experience.

I took three pairs of boots for rubber soles and polishing. Very nice work and everything was ready in a few days. Reasonable prices and friendly service.
