This cart is one of several to recently gain a vending license to serve in Market Square during weekday lunch hours. The concept is nice yet very poorly executed. They’ve got hot dogs, BBQ, and a steak sandwich for sale. I tried the BBQ sandwich ($ 9 with chips and a soda) and was so disappointed that I’m not going to bother giving the other items a chance.
The BBQ was average Lloyd’s BBQ style processed BBQ… uniform, not smoky, non-​existent spices, mostly just sweetened pork. It’s not bad, but rather amateurish in an «I made this in a crock pot for the 1st time» kind of way. It was served on a very stale piece of flat bread that was so stiff that when the vendor tried to make the sandwich taco-​style, the bread just split in two.
They’re going to have to try a little harder if they want this to work. Mediocre meat on stale bread at slightly too high a cost isn’t going to get many repeat customers.
