We came here frequently for food, but the quality has been hit or miss. Some days it’s great others it’s awful. I’m not sure if they just cycle through different cooks, but last time the mac and cheese which is normally great had the consistency of milk. Other times we’ve gotten crème brûlée that had a scrambled egg consistency. I have always had great fried food there like the hoosier sandwich or chili rellenos. The fish taco’s were a staple for us before but were missing on the menu the last time we went.

I’ve seen the range many times but for some reason nothing has drawn me in. Then one day a friend of mine suggested the range for dessert and coffee. The desert was absolutely heavenly, sweet but not too sweet, beautifully decorated and absoutly delicious, coffee was House coffee but i was pleased to see real cream and not that powder substance. Service was exceptional the manager stopped by on each visit to check that your visit was going well. Décor has a homey feel and when to enter you will understand why they call it the range. One night a friend of mine and I stopped in for dessert and coffee and we talked and laughed so long that we went past closing hours not our waitress or any other server make us feel as though we needed to rush out they told us to take our time. I like the range and have loved each visit. I wound recommended the range to friends and family or anyone who’s in search of some good food and very delicious dessert. Way to go range café!

Sometimes I wish Unilocal had a increments of .25 on their rating system. I’d give this place a 3.75. I like The Range, but I don’t love The Range. Service is always hit or miss. Depending on when you go, you might be waiting 20 – 30 minutes to get a table. This all sounds negative, but I’ve had more good experiences than bad. The reason I keep going back to The Range is the food. They have a unique breakfast and lunch menu that sets it apart from most of the breakfast/lunch restaurants in ABQ. They have HUGE portions that can be split between two people. I enjoy coming here for breakfast. My favorite dishes are The Range Roundup or the NM Benny. The chorizo hollandaise sauce on the NM Benny is so good! Don’t forget to order dessert. Right when you walk in there is a display case with a bunch of their desserts. They have a cinnamon roll the size of my face!

Everytime that I eat at the Range, I walk out swearing that this time will be the last time that I ever step foot in this… Wait, are those half moon cookies!!! The New York in me instantly zeros in on the half moon cookies and… Let’s just say that the Cookie Monster has nothing on me when it comes to consuming half moon cookies. The sight of those decadent and delicious half moon cookies erase any previous memories or thoughts in reference to a sub par and overpriced meal. All of my previous experiences at the Range are completely deleted from my memory. This makes me wonder why the sight of those half moon cookies deletes the attributes of the«New Mexico Mac and Cheese» from my brain, instead of deleting the lyrics from Carly Rae Jepsen’s song Call Me Maybe. That song pretty much plays in my head eight hours a day and this is crazy, but I just ate three half moon cookies and now my memory is all hazy.

We were seated right away and drinks were brought out:) the service was great! We ordered blue corn chicken enchiladas, a breakfast burrito, chicken fried steak, green chili Mac, and a burger! All were amazing!!! The green chile is good! The food is so tasty! A must try!

The Range Café is delicious! I had the New Mexico Benny and tasted more curry than chile which I thought was interesting. I thought the service was great as drinks and smiles were all around. Even on a weekday around noon, this place was packed! I also tried the carne adovada breakfast and enjoyed the presentation and spot on spice of it all. Worth a try and the burn! Great for breakfast! Have at it.

I have been going here since the early 90’s back when their only location was in Bernalillo. I do not live in Albuquerque or Placitas anymore, but when I visit Jim & Nancy, I like to eat here. The food is beyond delicious. The service is excellent.

I go to Albuquerque once or twice a year for work & RnR and am always thrilled when my trip is coming up as I’m a huge fan of New Mexican cuisine & the ABQ arts, music, and culture scene. This trip I’ve inserted a gastronomic tour of the city’s eateries, focusing on 2 items: Green Chile Stew & Huevos Rancheros. Range Café gets 5 stars for there ambiance/atmosphere/history/food/décor. I took a star out as the menu items were just a tad bit on the pricey side(for me anyway). This Range visit, I ordered Huevos Rancheros on blue corn tortillas and it did not disappoint. If you are a New Mexican green chile fan like myself, make sure to order extra chile for 99 cents as they do NOT put enough chile on the huevos. Beans, eggs, blue corn tortillas, potatoes were quite good though; a slice or two of avocado would’ve made the plate 100% A-Ok!

Crappy service, gross omelet, crappy service. Ooh yeah, did I mention the crappy service? I don’t know what’s so great about this place. I won’t go back.

My daughter and I dine here often. Usually the wait time is about 15−20min. You greeted with a friendly courteous smile. Today we sat in front of the fireplace. During the winter it tends to get chilly on your back, due to the emergency door that is near the table. the wait staff will ask if you would like the fire place turned on. Today we said yes, it made our seating comfortable. The food here is very tasty and cooked to your desire and they do their best to complete your special food needs if you need to change out an item on their menu. The ambiance is deligjtful, paintings on the wall out outlandish southwest in a quirky sense. tastefully done and the childeren find it funny to see flying cows.

Had breakfast there yesterday. Cute place, good menu, good food. Would have given them a 4 except my breakfast was cold, a big no-no for me. Even cold it tasted good but…

Went here this morning for brunch with my parents. Crowded but the wait want bad. I don’t like too many places in ABQ for breakfast, for Portland just had more organic/sustainable places that are hard to beat; BUT I do like this place. Instead of eggs I tried the blue corn pancakes with piñón~ nuts and blueberries. Very tasty and yummy! Nice change from my usually egg fare! Thank you.

This place was great. The space was large, with small kitchen ranges as decorations everywhere and cows flying from the ceiling. We were seated quickly and brought our drinks. The breakfast menu was big and hard to make a decision, but I ended up going with the Kitchen Sink Omelet. It wasn’t too far out of my comfort zone but still something different than I can get where I live. It was good, but kind of weird. It had avocado in, not guacamole(which I have had on the side of an omelet before), but whole slices of avocado. The creaminess of the avocado with the hash browns was a strange combination, but like I said, still good. My toast was a little burnt but not that big of a deal. I wasn’t able to try any of the bakery items that looked delicious in the case on the way out but the pies looked perfect.

Cute and kitschy. It felt like a local-ish Dennys or Perkins but… you know… good. The décor is adorable, with flying cows hanging from the ceiling and small toy ovens along the walls. Service was great. We were seated immediately on a Saturday morning. I ordered the blue corn pancakes with blue berries and piñón and a side of bacon. The pancakes were really quite good. I might have liked them better without the piñón, actually. But that is a personal choice. They are a great option on the menu!

Food was extremely overpriced and not good at all. There was no flavor in any of the food we got, all you could taste was oil. The chicken that come in my salad was dry and cold when it came out, just disappointing. The waitress was okay, she didn’t really check on us to see if our food was good or refill our drinks. She didn’t really have any kind of customer service at all. My family won’t waste our money here again!

This is my favorite restaurant for breakfast in Albuquerque. You can choose from a little bit of everything – delicious breakfast burritos smothered in chile, blue corn pancakes(to die for), omelets… I almost always get the blue corn pancakes because they are just too delicious. I did once try the egg white omelet to be a bit healthier and it was tasty… But I feel like if you’re going to eat at The Range, you might as well indulge on their yummy pancakes or burritos! I’ve been here several times and the staff has always been kind and accommodating. I’ve also never had issues with an unreasonable wait for food. A warning though, they are very busy on weekends from 10 – 2 so you may have to wait awhile to get seated. I went to The Range once for dinner but it just wasn’t the same as their amazing breakfast menu!

I love The Range. This review is really for all the locations, since we’ve never had a bad experience. We are usually here for breakfast, and I swear by the Range French Toast, which is fresh brioche lathered with apple butter and fresh fruit. Yum. Or, the oatmeal, topped with a big old scoop of cinnamon ice cream. Sounds bizarre but is amazing. So good. My husband and parents swear by the biscuits and gravy and the huevos rancheros, so you can get sweet or savory, whatever suits you. For lunch or dinner, my husband vouches for the enormous chicken fried steak and I love the range chicken, but there’s a host of diner-inspired options with a New Mexican twist that will fill you up. We have always had good service by knowledgable staff that attends to your drink refills and any custom requests without missing a beat. Busy or slow, we always get great service. My only quibble, which is where I docked a star, is the prices. $ 10 – 12 for breakfast, and $ 15 – 17 for lunch/dinner entrees is on the steep side, especially for diner food. They source local, so it’s understandable. But it definitely makes The Range a special treat, not a staple.

I wasn’t in the mood for red meat so I ordered guacamole salad and a tuna melt sandwich. The guacamole was boring and too much onion waaay too many chips for the scant serving(~$ 6) of guacamole. Tuna melts and onion rings, if properly prepared, can be very good. The tuna was cold, not much cheese and the onion rings were greasy, cold and limp. This is the first and last dinner I’ll have there. Stick with breakfasts… the are good at that. Interesting how they advertise the tuna as «line caught«. I should have made my own guac and tuna melt. I’m better than their cook was… At least for tonight.

The Range has been a favorite of ours since 2005 and it continues being one of the two places we dine on a frequent basis as well as where we take all friends & family members who come to ABQ. Their service is only second to their food! Their French toast, kitchen sink omelet, BLOATEM sandwich and friend green chile strips are AMAZING!

It is okay to go to every once in a while or if you have visitors from out of town. The prices keep increasing and the menu keeps getting smaller. I used to go all the time but now I only go when I have friends or family from out of town.

Very home style meal. Their meatloaf is definitely a hit and pastrami sandwich doesn’t fall behind compare to other sandwich restaurants. They vegetable soup with chicken is just perfect portion for light meal but keep you full for many hours. I am definitely regular at the Range Café and will enjoy their awesome home cook style meal and their cute interior design, specially those cows.

Attention Tourists: If you don’t like chili, can’t stand the heat and want to be filled to the gills, this place is for you. I’ve had more spice in a bottle of ketchup than on these Blue Corn enchiladas with red sauce. These were quite heavy with white cheddar cheese and 3 tortillas. Lots of red sauce, but I hesitate to call it chili – non-existent spice. And no onions? Sad representation of Mexican/New Mexican food. I’ve had other offerings which were decent, like chicken fried steak and breakfast food, but this was the first time for Mex/N.Mex fare. If you want spicy hot, pick another spot, i.e. Sadie’s, Cervantes, etc, but not here. Disappointed. Service was good…

I was debating whether to give The Range Café a 4 or 5 star. When it came down to it, I had to ask myself, what are the things I don’t like about this place? The answer is, I can’t think of anything. I’ve been here about half a dozen times and each time was really, really good. The service is always friendly and they get to your table pretty quickly. I haven’t tried the bar area yet, but I’m assuming it’s stellar too because this place is always packed. Now let’s get to the food. This place serves up some of the delicious food in ABQ and beyond! They’re known for their Huevos Rancheros and rightfully so, it’s a miraculous plate. What I have found that is also really good here is their sandwiches! Their rueben is something special, and you need to try it. All-in-all, The Range is a place that will be around for a long, long time because they give the locals what they want and they’re cooking up some damn good food!

I wanna make my home at the Range Café! Seriously cool local joint with strange wonderful décor to enjoy. We arrived fairly early on a Saturday and had a short 15 minute wait. When seated we walked past a bakery case that was drool worthy. The menu is wild, lots of options that are familiar with a twist. We had the blue corn pancakes as well as the a New Mexican version of Eggs Benedict. Both dishes were delicious, a little strange, a little familiar, and huge portions. We couldn’t finish either one! The blue corn pancakes were really the star of the show. I’ve never had anything like them, and can’t wait to go back. Service was friendly, coffee is topped off constantly! You’ll never have an empty cup in front of you here. I love that :) I want to go back to the range as soon as I can! I was too full to enjoy anything out of the bakery case and look forward to trying something on my next visit.

I was told by a few friends that this place was good and boy howdy I have good friends. I got the chicken fried steak and eggs and the chili con queso. The queso is thick and creamy absolutely perfect. The chicken fried steak and eggs were amazing as well. The only thing I was a little kicked by was the bill it is a little expensive especially for a college budget, but I would come here every now and then for the awesome food. Only reason I put 4 stars was the price.

From tasty desserts to exceptional java the Range is well worth the wait(cuz there usually is) the décor is very interesting & conversational and the staff is always wonderful! If you get a chance & into the apprerizers you must try the green chili strips with their special dipping sauce… the best!!!
