This place is CLOSED aka no longer in business. Came all the way from California to check out this cool place, only to be disappointed. :(

Whoever opened this place, especially across from a university is pure genius. I personally am not a huge cereal fan but this place made me actually enjoy it for once. The options are endless and all you can eat for a great price! We had a groupon and 4 of us ate for a total of $ 5! That can seriously not be beat. And the tvs even show cartoons! A dream for kids!

R U Cereal offers a quick bite to eat with a huge selection of Cereals. A buffet style I found myself grabbing 3 bowls of cereal and one of blue corn atole(I haven’t had it since I was little.) It is clean and had the morning cartoons going. I do wish they would check the fruit, the diced pears they offered were SOUR! One recommendation would be to offer a daily special or a new cereal that companies are pushing out like… Chocolate Cinnamon Toast Crunch or have different concoctions of cereal that customers have tried.

«R U Cereal» is quite possibly the finest title for a business I’ve ever seen in the 505. The name honestly wouldn’t work anywhere else in the country, and it’s so dang righteous. I’m loving, loving this, because that’s how we do it in Burque: serious is definitely cereal. Dope. Rating this sucker is really tough. As a student, I’d probably consider the place Mecca. I’d rise up from my Friday night bender with an ache for Cap’n Crunch and Cocoa Pebbles and think, cereal, I need me about eight bowls of sugary grub. Game on. So if you’re reading this and you’re a student with some morning munchies, by all means satiate your desires. Me, I want a tad bit more. When I visited I believe they had 36 brands on hand, including a few I’d never tried, like peanut butter cinnamon toast crunch(yum!). Three hot cereals(oatmeal, quinoa and cream of wheat) balanced out the cold selections and the condiment bar was impressive, but not substantial. Everything was clean, well organized, sterilized. I was hoping for a bevy of fruits, but there wasn’t much in that department: tiny chopped strawberries and a melon or two. Plenty of faux milk options, soy and otherwise. For $ 6 it’s fair, but I’d rather drop another couple bucks and guarantee a full tummy for the morning. Cereal is brethren to Chinese fare: two hours later you’re hungry for more. Bonus for students: this place will cater to your study groups. It houses several small study rooms where you’re welcome to bone up to your heart’s content, they won’t kick you out. I did have a terrific conversation with the owner and I learned that he’s ambitious as all get out, and we can expect some cool variations on the theme come fall. Hot dog and nacho bars are coming, with live music and plenty of community-related events. I’ll be happy to update this review when the good times roll, but for the moment, I’ll recommend a fresh fruit bar and perhaps a pastry or two that balances the meaty cereal selection. Cereal, this place should be all bad. So bring it, already.

So I think the first review was when they were first first open. This place was anything but dirty. My son really enjoyed all the variety. They did in fact did accept credit cards. The finish out was in fact on the low cost side. You can tell they are a local owners and have not consulted with branding consultants(which they should) to get that signature look. The little rooms are cute and comfortable. I spoke with one of the owners a bit and they are trying hard. I think the first review was a bit harsh and it almost scared us away. I’m glad we tried it. Not saying I’m going to come here all the time it’s just a cool novelty. Nice to have some variety in Albuquerque.

I gave R U Cereal a try because the idea has some potential. It could have been a comfortable atmosphere to study in, snack on endless bowls of creative and fun cereal concoctions from my youth and beyond. I was hoping to find obscure, interesting mix of cereals. What I got was an uninteresting set of cereals that are already in my home pantry. I was hopeful that the toppings would provide some pizazz but instead found that most of the toppings were canned fruits, unlabeled mystery yogurt, and one boring option of granola. Once I had my bowl filled, I found a place to sit in a «lounge». The restaurant sports two such lounges, both were made of lawn furniture(as was the seating everywhere else), and were separated by shower curtain partitions. Used bowls and trash littered most tables and the overall feel of the restaurant screamed CHEAP. Honestly, this place had some potential as a student study joint but the owners, who seem to cater to the student housing population based on their location, seem to have forgotten that La Posada offers a similarly sized array of cereals and toppings. Why would a student cross the street to pay $ 6 for a few bowls of cereal when they can do the same thing at the dining hall? In short, this is a fun idea with plenty of potential that fell far short of the mark. It was a disappointing trip. Word of warning: the restaurant has yet to receive their credit card reader and asks for those who are paying by card to write down their information on a slip of paper. Why they didn’t just run to BestBuy and get a card reader for the iPhone, I don’t know. But I do not recommend that you pay by card here.
