Cheesy, gooey wonderful goodness. This is a place that, if I lived in Albuquerque, I would want to visit too frequently to make the scale happy :-)! I ordered a chx quesadilla with green chili sauce. It was delicious. Do yourself a favor and get some salsa to go. It’s a little pricey but it’s so fresh, one of the best I’ve ever had. It’s not on the menu, you’ll need to ask for it. And you’ll have to wait for them to seal it in a mason jar. But you won’t be disappointed! Very friendly waitress and we got to meet the owner while we were there. The salsa is his mother’s recipe.

So here it goes I took my family here for the old town holiday stroll and made the biggest mistake ever ignoring all my better judgement based on the initial image and greeting of the owner(who was extremely rude in not even wanting to seat us) she left us standing for 10 minutes while she idled about dealing with other issues obviously more important than her customers eventually we were seated on cast iron chairs and tables which are ill suited even for outside furniture(no cushions and no comfort) my son almost flipped the whole table just by reaching for his drink. The waitress took 20 minutes to take our order saying she had other orders to put in even though there were several empty tables around us and the food toe 50 minutes to arrive now I can see waiting for food to be cooked so was not really worried about the time yet when the food finally Arived my wife’s taquitos were nasty and very mushy looked like wet masa the chips were alright but the«salsa» tastes like cheap Prego marinara and my pasole was served to me in a to go container with crackers and limes in a zip lock Baggie. Felt like they didn’t even want me to eat there. also when I took my son to the restroom he almost had an accident since the bathroom door is locked with an extreme push button lock and it took 10 minutes to find a waitress to give us a code by the way while we were waiting the giant picture not wall fell on me and my son and the owners son yell at me don’t worry I’ll pick it up I would hope so since your picture fell on us lucky we did not get hurt. the waitress or owner had no remorse or regret over the terrible service and experienced ice and good food we had in there establishment instead yelled at us that we need to remember that they are a Local shop not a large chain which has absolutely nothing to due with the fact that they serve terrible food have a lackluster attitude and could care less about there customers. There are lots of local restraunts which really appreciate the fact that locals patronize there establishments and have great service and awesome food this is absolutely not one of those places Do Not Eat Here very bad place.

Horrible food… and even worse customer service… we chose this place for dinner during the Holiday stroll for the holidays… WHAT A MISTAKE… the food took over 50 minutes to arrive to get servred RAW store bought taquitos that appeared to be microwaved… when we brought out concern to the waitress she took the food off our table… no aplology NOTHING… wait it gets worse… i approached the owners son when i questioned our bill and before he even heard me he stopped me and said«remember we are small mom and pop restaurant and not a large chain»… REALLY… Well not only was your food very disappointing but the«owners son» just lost any business i would ever give this place… i guess mom and pop restaurants are allowed to treat customers like dirt according to the quesildilla grill… No thanks i rather starve…

May I have a heart-to-heart with you, dear peruser of online review blabbery? Between you and me, I thought the concept of this restaurant, the idea of elevating quesadillas to the realm of the entrée, was so Albuquerque. In an embarrassing way. And just between us, hush-hush, I still feel that way. Quesadillas are A) the lunch option I feed my kid when I can’t find anything else in the fridge and B) total stoner food. Tortillas and cheese. And they’re really not built to do much more than that. And this restaurant really doesn’t do much more than that. I’m glad I’m keeping this between the two of us, because it’s a cute restaurant with a ton of history built into its adobe bones, but I just don’t buy it. But here’s the problem. After a few sub-par visits, I recently sat down with a big group and tried a smattering of the menu options, and I was downright dumbfounded — occasionally. The obvious winner was the kale rounder, it wasn’t on the menu, but it definitely won me over, the feta cheese was a Yoda-esque move. The Malibu, with ham, pineapple, red chile and honey? Ding ding! El Mondragon: good carne adovada. Those were standouts, and believe me, there are losers on this menu, like the meat lovers thing, basically pizza gone Mexican. Bottom line, they’re actually pulling this off. It’s tourist-friendly and the so-called fry bar, where you can douse your fries in a minor selection of flared condiments, isn’t very interesting. That said, they host the best selection of hot sauces in the city(think Firehouse Subs, if you fancy) and the actual french fries are hand cut and delicioso. This place is actually pretty good. Not my first choice in Old Town, but it’s in my top five. Really great service puts it in the four star realm.

4 stars? For what? Admittedly the service is great, attentive friendly and helpful. And should you happen to be in Old Town, the location is quite convenient. If only it weren’t for the food. Oh the food. Such a disappointment. We(3 adults, 3 kids) ate a lot. Taquitos, enchiladas, nachos, tacos. We enjoyed none of it. The meatball quesadilla(like an Italian sub) was the least not good thing we had. Everything else was the most not good. I can’t recall the last time I’ve ever left a restaurant thinking they needed a huge truckload of salt delivered. Were they out? I wasn’t honestly expecting anything, you know, ‘good’ for dinner in Old Town, but the 4 stars here got us in the door. I’ve never had Unilocal let us down so royally before. Even the salsa was bland. Oh the horror.

Yesterday I had lunch at Quesadilla Grille in Old Town Alburquerque. .what a gem! Word to the wise: if you come in to the little patio plaza where they are located, plastic cloth tables scattered around two separate dining areas, don’t forget to READ about the specials on the grease board just as you enter the archway from the parking lot. I had the kale quesadilla with mushrooms and feta. Sooo tasty and served with crispy tortilla chips and guac if you want. The guac was mediocre and I could have done without it, but the quesadilla was grilled to perfection and I could tell the kale was grilled in a slightly garlic(olive?) oil before it went into the tortilla. The whole ensemble was clean, with just the right amount if cheese, not so much that it is oozing out. If ever a quesadilla could taste yummy and healthy at the same time, this would be it. I also has a bite of my friend’s fish taco, which was nicely prepared with fresh cabbage(I’m from San Diego, near where Baja tacos originated, so you can’t fool me… if it’s not done with cabbage then it isn’t a fish taco) but the sauce and the fish itself was too bland for me taste. The real star of this place, besides the originality of the quesadilla stuffings, was the environment. Sit outside if you can and let your eye wander to the large-scale Katrina peering down at you from the curio shop upstairs and the cobblestone leading to tiny shops around the plaza. My friend has lived in Abq for 30 years and knows the scoop… apparently the guy who owns it got it from his folks who grew up in the building when it use to be a home. I don’t know if this is true but I am going to believe it anyways. It makes dining there all the more wonderful. I’ll be back!

Awesome! This restaurant was THE ‘find’ on a weary afternoon in the Old Town, Albuquerque. It is located down a little alley at «Nick Garcia’s Patio Shops» on Poco A Poco, San Felipe St. NW., right across from the old church. It specializes in quesadillas; the yummiest I’ve had. Numerous options for vegetarians too and fabulous service. The menu says no substitutions, but they made customs changes for our vegetarian needs. The portions are large and filling. Loved it!

I echo Leigh H.‘s comments. I would eat here again if in the area; however, I wouldn’t make a special trip just for the restaurant.

My experience at Quesadilla Grille was fine. I wouldn’t call it outstanding, but it was ok. I went because I had heard about the Kale Quesadilla and wanted to give it a try. Service was very friendly, but a bit on the slow side. I was seated promptly and then… nothing for a bit. I eventually got my drink, but it took about five minutes. Note that it did not appear to be crowded at all, but it seemed like one woman was both the hostess and the waitress. Chips and salsa are not free, and I found the way they did the ordering to be a bit weird. The Kale Quesadilla, I was told, came with a fountain drink and then either chips and salsa or french fries. I assume there are other meals that do not include these things? I was told I would be getting my chips and salsa soon, but they came out with the meal. The salsa was ok, but you get a very tiny cup of it, and it is not enough. I had guacamole with my quesadilla, and I wanted to get some sour cream. I had to get up and walk to the hostess stand to find someone to get me more salsa, more sour cream, and an additional soda(which I had been promised a refill on some time before). Again, everyone was very friendly about all this just slow. The food was ok. I would recommend putting less kale in the quesadilla as there was a bit too much in mine. I had added onions and feta to my quesadilla(at an additional cost), but I could barely tell that that feta was there. I did see a piece fall out so I know they put it in, but it wasn’t enough to add much to the overall flavor of the dish. Would I go again? Probably not. The food was fine, but the service was not super prompt. Additionally, I didn’t find the food to be amazing enough to warrant a second trip. But if you ended up here, it would be fine.

Great place for lunch with interesting quesadilla flavor options. Our server did a fantastic job of making sure our party of ten with limited time got our meals and we’re back at our conference on time. The only good I did not like was the salsa. It was clearly a marinara base with some garlic and maybe finely chopped onion and tomatoes. It was just odd.

Woweeey!!! Much like Napoleon Dynamite we LOVED these danged old Quesadillas. The salsa is homemade with love by the owner and is hands down some of the best I’ve ever had! And the wine margaritas are super tasty. Leroy made the entire dinning experience just delightful. We will definitely be coming back.

We were in Old Town and decided to try this restaurant. The first thing I noticed when I opened the menu was that they charged $ 3.99 for sopapillas! What? I grew up in NM and this is not right! If you order a meal sopapillas should be complimentary. We ended up ordering taquitos, street tacos, and a carne adovada quesadilla. The food was very good but it wasn’t authentic New Mexican with the exception of the carne adovada. You could get each item ala carte or as a meal. The meal included a soft drink. Since we weren’t ordering soft drinks we just got everything a la carte but my husband ordered a meal and they gave us a side of chips and guacamole for free for our three year old. A nice addition would be to include a drink and sopapilla with each meal.

I found this place by complete accident a while back. I was out wandering Old Town with a friend and we decided to try it. It looked very cute. It’s okay. The menu is a lot bigger than I expected for a place that boast quesadillas and fries. It has one salad on it and some desserts, as well. I tried the pineapple and ham quesadilla. It was not bad. It was a little odd, but it was not bad. The fries are decent and the toppings for them are good. My friend had a pork quesadilla and it was pleasant. The servings are a good size and they are presented nicely. Really, though, it’s a little boring. It’s just a normal sized quesadilla. And a cone of fries. That’s it. The service was slow. Very slow. It was middle afternoon and no one else was in the place. The server was very nice, but it was baffling why we had to wait for fries and a quesadillas for so long. I think we were there for over an hour for a simple meal. Despite being in the heart of old town, there is nothing New Mexican about it. You have to add green chile and you get charged for it. There is no heat and nothing authentic about the food. Overall, it’s interesting. They have weird quesadillas and fries. Not even a tortilla cheese burger, which would fit the theme. Eh.

Not very impressed and not worth the money. Food served on paper plates, salsa was purée, guacamole did not seem freshly made, nachos had processed cheese. Just not what we expected in Old Town.

No idea how this place got more then one star. To start the service was horrible. We asked for a larger cup of salsa which at first we thought was marina sauce by mistake and the serve grabs one from the table next to us and says«Do you want it they didn’t open it.» Other then that the food was incredibly bland and not worth the money at all. Some how there is a sign out from that says award winning street tacos enless they are the only ones who sell street tacos in old town this is clearly a mistake.

I spent the weekend in Albuquerque for my bachelorette party. We ate at this restaurant twice. We were drawn back to the quesadilla grill a second time because of the stellar and warm service that we received from our waiter, Leroy. He was genuinely nice and attentive. On the first visit we split the chicken street tacos & they were spectacular. The meal came with chips & salsa(as does everything in albuquerque) and the salsa was good, but reminder me quite a bit of marinara. On our second visit, we again placed an order for the chicken street tacos & also wanted to try the«fry bar». French fries seem a little out of place at a quesadilla restaurant, but it works. You don’t want to miss the barbecue mayo dipping sauce! The reason I give 3 stars is because the owner decided to give her employees a gigantic lecture right at the hostess stand… well within ear shot of the dining customers. We overheard the entire exchange. She was berating one employee in particular and he retaliated. Their voices were raised & it really ruined our dining experience. I don’t care if a restaurant is run with an iron fist, but I find it very inappropriate to do it in front of customers. Their argument made us extremely uncomfortable.

Such a cute little place tucked away on a nice patio in old town! Very friendly and attentive wait staff! Their food is really good too, they have do many things to add into the quesadillas, which is awesome! They also have a great dipping sauce selection for their home made fries. Highly recommend this restaurant for the atmosphere, food and friendly staff!

Great food Wandered in while checking out Old Town with my group from our conference. So glad we did. The waitress apologized right off the bat and said service would be slow cause they were short-handed. We still got out in an hour. They got my order wrong but gave me the incorrect order while they made the correct one. The food was great! The french fries(I know I should have tried the chips) were some of the best I ever had. There sauce bar had some great selections. The mayo/barbeque sauce was excellent on the fries. Also a minimum of peppers as we were peppered out(we asked!). Really liked this place.
