Louie’s Pub & Grill

From the moment I stepped into this place I said to myself wtf!!! BUT, (and that’s in all CAPS because it’s a significant BUT) I was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and great customer service from the bartender and the friendliness of the local patrons who seemed to be regulars at the joint.
I had these amazing wings with their «special seasoning» and insightful conversations about the pitfalls of the death penalty and benefits of being a vegan… I know those convos don’t even match but when your first thought about a place is wtf you tend to go with the flow. It was my first time ever being in New Mexico and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations. I’m gonna work on increasing my expectations tomorrow, but for tonight this is a 5 star joint.

Great spot for the neighborhood. Laid back older age group that goes mainly. Decent service. The bathroom could really use some love!!!

I use to go to Louie’s every week about 5 years ago, we stopped going as frequently, but I popped back in over the weekend. The place hasn’t really changed in the last 5 years, they still have pool tables, they still have the outdoor patio for smokers and while the staff is all new it’s still the same atmosphere, dark and a bit rough around the edges.
We went here for lunch so perhaps the service varies based on the time of day but we were able to place our orders quickly and our drinks were never empty now if were were the only ones in the place that might not be saying much but there were several other parties at the tables and a few people sitting at the bar.
I’m sure part of my rating is just the nostalgia factor but I’m sure I’ll be back.

As an occasional visitor and a former resident of the Española Valley area, I like going to Louie’s for the nice atmosphere. Karaōke nights are also good times. The food and drinks are relatively inexpensive. The pool tables are pool hall quality and the service that I receive there is good. The selection of draft beers is commendable. The only reason that this does not earn a higher score is the quality of the bathroom and lack of toilet paper. Also, the graffiti should be removed to create a more enjoyable experience. This is my ‘Cheer’s bar’ when I visit the ABQ area.

Dark, divey feeling local bar, with a biker crowd vibe and attitude. They have fifty cent tacos on Wednesdays and other daily specials of a similar variety — all of which I’m sure they still make money on. Which is to say, yeah they were fifty cent tacos. The price did not include service, even with the purchase of drinks. We waited a while before getting service, which is weird because it isn’t a huge place.
I did, however, count 24 beers on tap, local centric but still enough of the domestics to attract the aforementioned interesting-​looking crowd. I’ve worked at Harley dealerships felt like I was in the leather apparel section while eating my tacos. There were some office types getting loud at the bar too, who made it hard to order my beer at the bar after I waited to get a refill. The tacos took longer than I’d have expected given the mass production feel of them, and we didn’t see or server again for awhile after the initial long wait.
Once upon a time I’d have gone back to a place like this and maybe gotten better service by tipping well at the bar. The specials are probably edible but if you’re looking for cheap wings you get what you pay for right? Louie’s is passable for a local townie bar but on the more adventurous side for more ‘vanilla’ family-​oriented folks, so your rating may go a full star in either direction based on what you look for in ‘value’. If I was by myself and just wanted to drink I might come in any time…

The website presented this as an exciting sports bar with decent food and friendly service but provided none of these things. Rude staff that didn’t follow through with anything and the food was expensive for how terrible and cheaply made it was. Will never return here nor will recommend it.

Horrible, rude, & inattentive employees. My husband and I were visiting from California and decided to stop in to watch a game. Unfortunately we were ignored and when we finally caught the attention of an employee he was rude and snappy. Needless to say we walked out. I have family in Albuquerque & we love the city and its people so you can imagine how disenchanted we were by Louie’s.

I’ve been to Louie’s a couple of times, and it’s a pretty good little bar. It’s away from the downtown scene with ample parking, but good luck getting on the list for karaōke. It’s hard to get your Journey on with appropriate enthusiasm when you’ve been waiting 45 – 60 minutes.
The drinks are good and decently priced, and I am hopelessly in love with their green chile cheese fries. They are amazing. Seriously. I also liked the fried zucchini.

OH goodness. This place. Its not a terrible place by any means but I do not enjoy it at all what so ever. I think I will do a list type of thing…
The ambiance is terrible.
The jukebox plays way to loud even with a half empty bar you can hear the people talking next to you.
The waitress never brings you drinks.
The tables were dirty.
The nacho cheese tasted like old dirt.
The roof was leaking
The only reason its a 2 instead of a 1 is because the tacos were average and they were 50 cents. I might … maybe … could bump it to a 3 if we could of gotten any type of service at all. How hard is it to bring a group of 4 a second round of beers after they have been there over an hour??? Its a sad story indeed.

Love this place! Bar service is fantastic. Food is exceptional. Prices are fair. I recommend going to this place anytime you want to go out in Albuquerque.

Great bar. It is the kind of place that I want to make my Cheers. Dark bar like atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. Good bar food, nothing fancy but solid food. Good burgers. Good sandwiches. Good drink specials. They have a really decent selection of beers and other spirits. Very reasonably priced. Great specials. Pool tables and jukebox, plus sports on tv for entertainment. My new hangout.

Nice gloomy atmosphere with decent pool tables. Nice cheap beers, but every single time-​horrible service! Two stars because of the inexpensive green beers on St. Paddys ;) I was being nice :-)

Louie’s is a new Tuesday night location for Geeks Who Drink and last night was my first exposure to both.
Contrary to other reviewers, my GWD team of six received excellent service: drinks never got empty and our food was delivered quickly. We only tried the green chile (Not chili!) fries and nachos, but both tasted far better than the usual bar fare. In fact, the green is one of the better tasting I’ve had in the city, albeit a bit on the mild side. Our only complaint is that the portions were really small for the price, at least for those two items.
Overall, a great experience with friendly waitstaff and solid food. I’ll be back.

Awesome local bar! Everyone from the sweeper to the CEO… Owner leaves a bit to be desired but staff rocks and beer is cold. Food rocks, try the burgers, Mexican and the tacos are killer on Wednesday! Totally the Cheers of ABQ!

Louie’s Pub is my favorite stop off when I’m in Albuquerque. Great bartenders and a super friendly staff. The food is awesome and you can play pool while you enjoy a cold brew. Nice local crowd and decently priced.

Local neighborhood bar that leans closer to the ‘dive’ line. The food here is actually REALLY good (almost gave it 4 stars just on food alone). You can tell there is a real locals/​regular crowd, which means there is something drawing people back (the food perhaps?), however I found the space small and pretty bland. There is a pool table in one area and a few tables along the bar. The service was unfortunately terrible — with us even having to go to the bar just to get our ticket because the waitress forgot she had a table… (really?! there were like 10 people there). Service almost made this a 2 star review, but that food… it really was good. Doubt I will be going back though.

Nice neighborhood bar. I haven’t had the food but the service on the bar side is very good.
Nice place to shoot pool. There is plenty of room in between the tables. Doesn’t seem to get too busy so it’s also a nice place to take a date. I noticed several couples kicking it and it wasn’t too loud for them to chat.

***Based on booze, TVs, and appetizer only!*** Stopped in to watch football and we were pleasantly surprised that they had 6 of the 9 early NFL games on! Excellent! It was on the small side, but quickly filled up with regulars that all knew one another. The bloody Marys were surprisingly good. Bartender mixed them to order, no pre-​made bottled mix here! Doesn’t hurt that they were cheap — — $ 4 Absolut special. I had two for quality control purposes, of course. Decent beer selection on tap. We split the green chile queso; tasty, but I wish it wasn’t served in a styrofoam bowl. Bartender was really busy; had to work bar and tables! Definitely earned her tip. Nice, laid-​back sports bar; t-​shirt-​and-​jeans kinda place. I’m interested to try the food next time.

Shockingly good food for a tiny pub such as this one. The Uptown Turkey (turkey, Swiss, green chiles) on sourdough bread was very satisfying. The bread was grilled just right: enough butter to give it that irresistible golden color and give it a slight crunch, rather than greasy and gooey. The chiles had a nice heat and the cheese brought it all together. All others at the tables were equally satisfied with their food (burgers, nachos, beer-​battered fries, and tacos). Although we waited quite a while for our food, it was definitely worth the wait. The service was good (nothing out of this world but not bad either) and the prices were cheap; around $ 7 per entrée.
The food at Louie’s was an unexpected and welcomed surprise.
