My husband and I ate there for breakfast, and let me tell you, the coffee was nasty, tasted like from the day before, and the breakfast burritos were gross, no flavor. Never again, will I step a foot or recommend this food. Yuck!

Over 30 years ago when my husband was a green 2nd Lt at Kirtland AFB, he and his buddies from Fuels went to K&I almost weekly for their Travis fix. We’re on vacation in Albuquerque and the trip wouldn’t have been complete without a nostalgic visit. He could only manage most of a quarter-Travis. I wouldn’t even attempt it, so I went for the Chile Reillano plate. The food, service, and prices were just as great as so many years ago. The ambiance is Barrio-chic and also hasn’t changed in 30-plus years, but who cares about the looks of the place when you can be in Mexican food heaven?

Meh… didn’t try the signature dish(The Travis). Staff were nice. Food had no seasoning… not even salt and pepper. Least liked carne adovada in NM. Bummer!

This place is living on it’s Travel Channel hype. Definitely not worth going here for any reason other than wanting to follow the crowd like lemmings. The only reason we gave them 2 stars was because of the very attentive and engaging service, eggs cooked correctly to order and the coffee. We were the first to be served on a Sunday(they supposedly opened 1 hour earlier than our arrival) and except for the coffee being ready, they were not prepared to serve. We ordered a plate of eggs and hash browns with red chili and a side of green chili. The red chili was barely warm and needed a lot of salt. The hash browns were barely cooked and pale, limp — also needed more heat, salt, flavor and crunch. The eggs were the only salvation on the plate. Cooked medium to order — how can you screw that up really? Hence another notch towards two stars. The green chili was vile. Cold, starchy and full of modified food starch instead of pork or flavor and really a HUGE disappointment. Really? This place is in New Mexico folks no excuses. The server was mortified by the cold food and sent it back. It came back barely warmer than before but by now we knew it was a losing proposition so we said nothing. The coffee was decent and fresh. The bathrooms however were scary. The ladies needed losts of work — some paint, how about occasional cleaning around the sink and light switch — but the men’s room was foul. Really foul. Health inspectors need to check this place as the condition of the restrooms generally tell a lot about the kitchen. They need to put some money back into the business because they appear to making plenty from the price of the food versus what is served. They especially need to reinvest in the quality of the recipes and ingredients and into the bathrooms. Unless you want to take on the silly«Travis» challenge I highly recommend skipping this overrated and overpriced spot.

Holy Bland… No taste what so ever in the huevos rancheros and the chile is sad, and the only choice was green no red??? The nastiest adovada I have ever had.

First time in Albuquerque. I travel for work and look for those little places to go to. Didn’t know this spot was featured on Man V Food. I have to say I see why. I ordered the Travis(which they are known for), and it mostly didn’t dissapoint. The only down side I have to say about this dish is I would have liked the beef inside to be seasoned a little more. The beef itself was one note. Bit of course when eaten with a little of everything, it is great. Little hole in the wall kind of place. Very laid back and casual. But extremely friendly and the service was great. If I find myself back in Albuquerque I will surely be back

Quick look rating: 4⁄5 Food & Quality, 5⁄5 Service, 5⁄5 Experience. Heads up: Try the Travis, but get a SMALLER portion and go with other friends! Dinned here with my uncle awhile back on our way to go fly fishing further north, but still remember that we had a fun time! Due to the ridiculous size of this silly dish called the Travis. Warning: This following meal is not healthy at all! After landing at the Albuquerque airport, my uncle spoke of this dish we should try.(My uncle is a prankster, so I’m usually on my guard when he is around. We saw the size of this dish, the«Travis», and laughed and ordered an eighth or a fourth of the dish. It was a green chili enchilada plate with a load of french fries over the top. Forget about eating healthy or portion control, this plate is basically out-of-control! Great service, it was fast and friendly. Our waitress did warn us on the dish size. The place, was a fun dive of a place, but fun with character! Bottom line, would I come back? Yes, but only once in a blue moon, due to the unhealthy«Travis» dish. Truth be told, it is a very fun dish that I still think about often! Yes, I’m week in the knees thinking about the«Travis»!

Bit of a treacherous walk from the hotel, no sidewalks… but well worth the risk to life and limb. It will take MANY visits to try everything I want to eat here. After much deliberation, I went with the carne adovada. Rich, spicy red sauce, tender succulent pork. Hash browns could have been a bit crisper, my only complaint. Eggs cooked just right, great coffee, prompt, friendly service. Breakfast was about $ 14 with tip. Cool blue collar dacor. You want to eat here.

When I go to Albuquerque I expect spicy food. The green chile was super mild. They told me their red chile was hotter but it was about the same. I would not have thought much about it if I was in New Hampshire but I expect more out of Albuquerque. The Huevos Rancheros at Village Inn(chain restaurant) was much spicier. K & I had a Navajo taco. It was made out of a Sopapilla. Give me a break, a sopapilla! I’ve eaten many a Navajo Taco. None was ever made from a sopapilla. In fairness to K & I, the helping were generous and service was good.

Stopped by to eat quick lunch, and had smothered breakfast burrito with carne adovada. It costed $ 8.50 ish including tax, with tip it was about $ 10. Looks like menu on Unilocal is outdated with old prices. I thought it would come with some stuffs considering cost but it was just one single burrito only. I have had way better burrito for cheaper price and more portion. I do not understand why people raved about this place. There were couple people who were having«travis» but I was not really impressed by it either.

It’s a little hole in the wall but defiantly worth the visit. Good food, ok service. Sit in the front room if possible. The ac seems to work better.

Well, that was okay. I had the cheese enchiladas, xmas, and they were okay. My colleague’s burger looked like something I would have regretted wasting my calories on, the burrito piled with french fries was excessive and pointless except as a novelty(Look! My burrito is covered with hundreds of french fries!), and looking around the table I was underwhelmed by just about everything I saw. We have too many choices. Only go here if you must to please a relative or something.

My husband’s co-workers recommended this place for breakfast, so we gave it a try a few weeks back. I had to think about it for a bit because I was not sure if I like it or not. I have had much better breakfast food at a Denny’s. It was not the worst, but it definitely did not live up to the hype. The appearance is old could use an update, but that is what some like about the place.

I’ll keep going back to this place for the amazing burritos and/or Travis but I have to say that I’ve noticed they got rid of their skinny, yummy fries and their portions have gotten smaller, but I guess that’s the economy for you! Still a great spot that I recommend.

Came here because I read other reviews that said it was good. As a fan of good NM food and chile, I was not impressed. I had the breakfast burrito plate smothered with red and green. Both chiles were thick and gravy-like, which was kind of nasty. The chiles were not hot at all. The inside of the burrito was not good either. It came with two eggs and hash browns. It was hard to tell the difference between the two and tasted like a pile of mushy potatoes. Overall, this place is a glorified greasy spoon at best. I will not be back.

The perfect breakfast spot. Huevos rancheros? Biscuits and gravy? You got it! This is one of my fave breakfast places. No matter what I’m in the mood for, I can get it here(and lots of it). They have New Mexican favorites as well as traditional breakfast items like french toast and omelettes. Out of all the times we have been here, there was only one bad experience– and I was really disappointed with how management handled it. We went for lunch(perhaps our first mistake), and I ordered steak fingers and fries. My steak fingers didn’t show up until everyone else was halfway done eating. It’s cool– those things take a while to cook… Except not. My steak figers were not cooked. They were raw, doughy, and absolutely disgusting. I brought it to our waiter’s attention, and he brought the manager over. She whisked my food away with no apology, and didn’t even offer me sometthing else. The steak fingers weren’t removed from our ticket either. So disappointed. Things happen, but mak it right people. All in all, I would still eat here… But I’m not about to try those steak fingers again!

The Carne Adovada and the funky diner atmosphere at The K & I make it worth the trip! I remember enjoying their famous French Fry smothered Travis burritos for lunch many years ago, but lately I’ve rediscovered this Albuquerque institution as a wonderful breakfast destination. It’s close to the freeway and features good food, efficient service and reasonable prices. Both the red and green chile are yummy, but fairly tame.

K & I has very«rustic» truck stop diner feel in an industrial section not far from the airport. The Red Chili was simply excellent(as good as mine!) and the Green Chili was also good. But, it was the Carne Adovada that stole the show. It was one of THE best I ever tried! 5– stars and I would have licked the plate clean… but after I saw the total filthy disaster in men’s restroom room, I opted not. IMHO — don’t use the men’s restroom room here. Go before you arrive, and/or bring handi-wipes before eating. But in the end, the food was outstanding and there were no digestive«express check-out» issues. ;-)

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a very long time, but with my ridiculous work schedule I could never make it. Finally, I had a day off and before hitting up the rio grande my SO and I headed to this lovely diner for breakfast. We were promptly given menus and asked for our drink orders by a lovely and sweet waitress. Our drink orders were promptly delivered and our orders were taken. As we sat there reading the paper, drinking our coffee, and waiting on our food I felt ridiculously relaxed. The restaurant buzzed with people doing their own things, talking, enjoying each others company, and enjoying the large portions of food for a fair price. It’s the perfect place to bring your family, friends, or SO for a great value and great bonding time. I got the chicken fried steak and eggs while my SO had the ham and eggs. It was promptly delivered and I was very pleased with the portions of the orders. You can get a tortilla, toast, or a biscuit on the side with a side of gravy only being $.50 extra. What a freaking steal. I went for the toast, because I was worried my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I couldn’t eat my whole meal or all of my toast, so I’m super glad I didn’t go for a side of biscuits and gravy. Either way, the meal was perfect. I’m excited to have another day off so I can roll out of bed, drink coffee out of christmas mugs, and enjoy some delicious food all for around or under $ 10 a person.

Gluttony! Wonderful and personable staff. Very down-home. We would be back if it were closer to home.
