Great for the price. Clean, AWESOME shower, haven’t had one that good for a very long time. Clean room, comfortable bed. The breakfast was normal, no wow factor here. We only stayed one night on our way to Virginia, so our room was good for what we needed which was a good night sleep. I would definitely come here again.

Just a horrible nights sleep. The kitchen started smoking and set the fire alarm off! I’m so tired it sux! I spent 2 hours trying to sleep in a compact car! Had food stuck in the carpet in my room. The food was not good. Unless you enjoy hanging out in the parking lot with strangers in your night cloths (or what ever you could find to throw on) I would spend the extra $ 30 and go somewhere else! I have a 12 hour drive today and I’m afraid I may fall a sleep while driving! Seriously go somewhere else!

The room smelled like cat pee and the lady at the front desk was rude and couldn’t put her phone down when she was checking us in. We will NOT be coming back.

And after all these years, my wife has finally learned and adapted to my impulsive leanings; especially as it relates to travel.
Throughout the week, I carefully plans, study, and execute. However, when early Saturday morning (or late Friday evening) comes around, a transformation occurs and I just want to take off somewhere.
As long as we don’t have any prior business, customer, project, and school commitments, everything is fair game. It’s not inconceivable for us to either get on a last minute plane trip or engineer a road trip in a matter of minutes.
Which brings us to this most recent trip to Albuquerque.
I had been wanting to finally see the Albuquerque Balloon Festival for years, but I have been absolutely non-​committal — and neither was my wife. However, when 6AM on Saturday morning rolled around and she asks me what did I want to do today, my answer was simple.
Let’s go to Albuquerque and see the festival! Sight unseen, with no reservations, and no plan whatsoever.
My only trepidation was the fact that we have put WAAYY too many miles on our new car, but who cares. I perished that thought in about 2 seconds, and we were showered and packed in under 30 minutes (this is not our first rodeo so we know what to bring no matter where we go).
It was a long drive, even at very high velocities. By the time we got to ABQ and enjoyed the event, we finally got around to figuring out where we were going to stay.
Lo and Behold, all the hotels within the known radius of the event (regardless of price) were all sold out. I thought that perhaps the joys of spontaneity may not be as rewarding today as we thought.
I made one last ditch effort to call a nondescript hotel that was about approximately 15 miles away from the event, and that was the Guest House Inn and Suites.
A lady named Maida answered the phone, and she told me that she had some rooms, but she wasn’t going to guarantee it. She told me to just come on down and she would see what she could do.
That was good enough for us, and within some minutes (driving carefully through the I-​25 South — NOT!) we were at the lobby.
At that time, there were many other guests who were also trying to obtain a room, but they all procured their room using online room aggregation software. BTW, the flaws of that system are quite evident during heavy booking periods. I know this due to the fact that I have implemented systems for many major hotel chains in my previous career.
I calmly told my wife to have a seat the lobby, and I politely introduced myself to Maida and informed her that it was her that told me to drive down there as she may have a room for us. I did much to the chagrin of the other guests that were irate over the overbooking of only a few rooms with a particular configuration.
As I patiently waited for Maida to finally assist me, I perused the Unilocal reviews on this hotel and noticed the low ratings. However, upon further investigation, and getting an opportunity to quiz her on their relationship with the «other» hotel, she informed me that they are in no way affiliated with that other location.
In spite of the chaos, negative attitudes, and general testosterone filled lobby of irate men wanting to show her the error of her ways, Maida manages to assist me and find me an available room.
She actually took care of us and had us out of that lobby within 15 minutes, while attempts were still being made to fix the issues with the 3^rd party online reservations.
Whether that was fair or not is irrelevant to me. This is my review.
Nonetheless, what is fair is that this hotel deserves a good review for the diligence and courtesy of its staff, the cleanliness of the rooms, and the overall surroundings — and to not be associated with the other establishment that seems to have drawn many the ire of its guests.
No, this is not even remotely close to being the nicest hotel that we have stayed in. However, it is not the worst either.
They provided us with a clean room, good amenities, free breakfast, and nice surroundings. Period. And at the end of a long road trip day, that’s all that mattered. And this hotel deserves the accolades for that.
Maida was very calm, polite and friendly throughout the check-​in process in spite of the flared tempers. She managed to smile the whole time in spite of being under pressure.
Therefore, when I say in my other reviews that I had nothing but good things to say about ABQ and its people, she is one of those examples that really made our spur of the moment road trip a memorable one!
