This was our last visit ever. We had the same complaint tonight that we always do. Servers just pay no attention & the food line isn’t kept clean. Our server stood at the table next to ours & somehow managed NOT to see our 4 empty glasses sitting on the edge of the table. When she moved away & I said excuse me, she managed to not hear me. We each had water & another drink so with all 4 glasses empty it had been a while without a refill. I gave up timing how long the glasses were empty when it had been 10 minutes. Then my husband got veggie potstickers instead of the chicken ones he ordered. It took a long time for his replacement order to arrive & for our bowls to arrive. We waited almost 15 minutes for our check while our server was nowhere to be found. We asked for leftover containers & my husband had a large bowl that was still at least half full. She brought 1 small box. We ended up needing a second box, but she couldn’t figure that out. We had to ask. I don’t expect a lot at a place like this where you put your own bowl together, but I do expect a server to see empty glasses sitting there & to notice when people need their check. We usually tip 20 — 25% as a rule, but the server tonight got 10% & I felt like that was overly generous. We will never be back. In the 18 months since we’ve been here last we noticed the prices had gone up quite a bit also, but the service has never improved. Too many people in town WANT our business to waste time at this place.

AVOID! Went there once and was actually TURNEDAWAY — they only had ONE waitress for the entire establishment! No manager in sight. Incompetent, rude, and unprofessional. Plus their prices just went up something like 20% overnight with no improvements to the menu. DISAPPOINTING! Vote with your feet and your wallets, people. Go elsewhere.

The grill has so many fresh options! We are vegetarian and were impressed that they gave us a «green card»(vegetarians and food allergies). We presented this card and they CLEANED the grill to make sure our food wasn’t contaminated! The veggies are fresh with 40+ options and you are are encouraged to mound the bowl high! I ordered a large but could have saved some $$ with a medium, which was perfectly large enough.

This place is great. Build your own bowl. Tons of meats and veggies to pick from. Staff has always been really nice and they are willing to accommodate large parties which is nice.

This is the first time we have been to this location, it was very busy and took a long time. We stood in line for 45 minutes just to make our bowl, then waited another 20 min for our bowls to come to the table. We also ordered an appetizer that never showed up. The food was good when we got it but I think we’ll stick to the i-25 –Jefferson location, we’ve never had a problem there

I love this place! One of my absolute favorites. The staff is friendly, the place is pretty clean and the food is always great! I have a Kahn’s Klub card and get a free bowl after 10, plus, I always get goodies in my email.

Not bad, the food is really only 3 stars but I’m giving one more for the service. The waitress was very helpful walking my through my choices of protein, spices and veggies. The food was fresh and plentiful. Don’t let the size of the bowl fool you the noodles are added afterword.

Great food experience, love the fact you can put together your own bowl. But the low rating based on service. Last 2 times had to wait in line ro give the cooks my bowl due to not enough cooks for the amount of customers. Cooks taking their sweet time when they see a line and deciding to take up a quarter of their grill to cook more fried rice during dinner rush. The seating hostesses also don’t know their job very well. I would suggest getting a Khan’s Card if you eat here a lot.

Good stir fry and always have food left over when I get the big bowl! Glad that they have now added a small bowl… Go during non peak hours if not you’ll probably spend half your dinner time waiting in line to serve, and the food bar will be messy and somewhat disgusting

Best thing about genghis is that you can make your bowl of food yourself. You decide about all the details. There is usually no waiting time. Once you get in, you’ll be given an empty bowl and you should fill it with whatever you like. After 5 – 8 minutes, you’ll get your grilled food. Don’t forget the jalapeño.

Ok, first off the food was good but that is largely a function of what I selected and how I seasoned it. After all this is really a make your own meal kind of place, all they do is grill what you choose. I am a long time fan of a place called Big Wok in Manhattan Beach California. For those of you that know the area, Manhattan Beach is one of the most expensive real estate areas in the country, therefore I am sure the costs to run the restaurant there are significantly higher than Genghis Grill in New Mexico. I am mentioning this because I felt cheated after eating at Genghis Grill. We have all experienced how some businesses make you feel like you received a good value for your money and other businesses where you feel like you are being taken advantage of in obvious ways. Genghis is the latter. At Big Wok and many other authentic non chain non gimmick places you receive a large bowl to fill up at the bar. You have plenty of room in that large bowl. You do not feel controlled. Big Wok allows you to go to the bar as many times as you like with no additional cost. They serve you bread at your table as well. The price is only about $ 10 per person. At Genghis(chain) grill you are presented with 4 options. You can choose a pre made meal off of the menu or you can choose from 3 sized bowls to serve yourself at the bar. The smallest bowl is really tiny and insulting for $ 8.99. The next bowl is not much larger and the largest bowl(the one I chose) was the size of a small dog food bowl. As I recall I paid something like $ 15.99 for it. I was shocked to also find out that I could only go to the bar one time, That is it, just once! No bread is served at the table either. I felt as though I was being rationed. To me it was really insulting. The food was good but I felt cheated for the amount I had to pay. We were a party of 4 and 2 of us chose the small bowls. The bill with tip was almost $ 70. I thought that was a lot of dough for this type of dining compared to other places I have been. I think the owners are greedy and I felt as if they insulted my intelligence. There are better values for your money but seeing as most Americans are financially inept and on some sort of government handout they probably will enjoy the experience. I would rather go to Panda Express than go to Genghis and spend this kind of money again.

This is the place to go if you want guaranteed good take home food‼ I’ve been here three times since moving to the ABQ and has gotten better every time. I think it’s because I figure out how to stack the bowl better… All I know is that this time I made a wall with the zucchini and carrots around the edge of the bowl and I was able to get way more veggies in. Woot!!! I consider it success when I have three take home containers. Highly recommend the thai peanut sauce. Major NOMS‼ 5 stars.

I like Genghis Grill. I have not been to one in a while. I love the meat options and the veggie options. The restaurant was clean and the staff friendly. I think the price is getting a little too high. But the food was very tasty.

My boyfriend and I used to LOVE Genghis Grill. We don’t get to go there that often because it’s really far away from where we live, but last week we decided to make the trek over there. When we got there, though, I was sorely disappointed. Genghis Grill used to have one size bowl at a very reasonable price. When we got there, however, we were asked what size we wanted, and the prices for each seemed far less reasonable than they used to be. So this startled us. We ate it, though, and it was good, but the change in the system kind of put a damper on it. But THEN we got home, and we both got very sick. My boyfriend got sick first, and I thought he was just being dramatic, but then shortly after I was throwing up. What happened, Genghis?

I’m a bit disappointed at the new system here. You used to get one decent sized bowl for you to cram as much stuff in as one could possibly do. Now they have 3 different sized bowls all with it’s own cost. The largest is $ 14! Holy crap! My lunch was $ 18 with a tip! That’s a little steep for me. The large bowl seems smaller than the original one. The food line is messy(as usual) because people get carried away when filling the bowls and the staff doesn’t seem to keep it orderly. There will be other food items in other bins and everything gets all mixed up. They need to do a better job of keeping everything separate. The meat section is a bit scary. It doesn’t look appetizing, especially the pork and chicken. It just doesn’t look like it’s being kept at correct temperatures. The seating is not ideal. You end up sitting too close to other patrons and can hear every word of their conversations thus them hearing every word of yours. All in all, my meal was still pretty tasty considering the inflated cost and poorly managed food bins so I’ll give them 3 stars. I probably won’t be back for a long time… unless someone buys me lunch here hehe.

Since they changed the food structure it’s gone down hill & picking up speed. The server reminded me of the dog on the movie«Up». «SQUIRREL!!» Scatter brained. It took forever to get 5 soft drinks. Nothing pisses me off more than being called«Boss» by anyone including the server. This started off as a 3 star review but turned into a 2 as I compose this at my table. The manager walked around looking lost. He never checked in on any customers. The meat & seafood selection has diminished but the prices seem to have risen. Will not be back.

I really like the«build your own bowl» concept at Genghis Grill. The variety of choices is good and different combinations make each experience unique. I like spicy food so I can load up on hot peppers and sauce(for reduced calories, use Garlic Water instead). Also, the size of the bowl is generous and I always have left overs for dinner or a late night snack. I do miss the Lettuce Wraps and could use another appetizer on the menu. The atmosphere is very casual and friendly. To avoid the crowd, get there before noon on weekdays and sit at the bar. Melanie has been there since they opened and offers great service. One thing that distinguished GG from other restaurants is Khan’s Rewards. A great reward program that offer’s free bowl’s for every 10 purchased and on birthdays. It’s definitely worth signing up for email and text message specials as well. GG is a good value that makes for a quick lunch or relaxing dinner.

Why didn’t anyone tell me they have recipe cards for the stir fry challenged?!? I would have come to eat there so much sooner! The service was ok. Not awesome. Getting to put together your own raw ingredients was great. If you don’t like it, it’s your fault for putting something in there you shouldn’t. My only gripe was that I didn’t realize things cook down so much or else I’d have changed a few items in my dish. Where’s that giant pile of chicken? Oh now it’s tiny. I liked the atmosphere, low key and very open. Moderately priced. Lots more stir fry for dummies cards I’d love to try!

The food here was decent, but certainly not life changing. If you have been to other Mongolian BBQ places, you’ll know that this is ok, but not the best out there. If you have never been, then it is certainly an exciting experience. I liked that they had a tofu option, but of course, the vegetarian meals don’t cost any less than someone protein loading on shrimp and scallops. I appreciated them having a vegetarian card, meaning that the grill got cleaned before mine went down(yay!), but the order of the items made it tough to fill my bowl with other stuff once the tofu went in. Would much rather have loaded it with veggies, and then put the ungainly tofu on top. The sauce options were ok, and I appreciated getting to taste them, but they seemed high on salt and lower on flavor. Overall, a good place if you’re really hungry, or it’s late and you want to just fill, sit and eat, but I don’t think this is really a destination place.

Wow… how have I lived here for 3 years and never ventured out to this gem? It’s pretty much a make your own hibachi grill and I love it! Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. When you arrive you’ll be taken to a table and given a little metal bowl — be sure to pack that sucker down as you go through the line!(I even saw some people using their hands to press the proteins down so they could pack in more!) So many choices of proteins, you can truly make one of the best feasts you’ve ever had — all on your own. If it’s your first time and you don’t know what to do — flavor/ingredient — wise, there are recipe cards on the wall before you start to make one of their combinations. This was my first time and I just played it by ear. Steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops and crab, seasoned with some garlic/lime and steakhouse seasonings. Both of the stir fry veggie mixes, add in a little zucchini, squash and baby corn along with the honey soy sauce and fried rice — it was AMAZING. I honestly think with any combination you fix there — you can’t go wrong. If you do — just like Joe. R said, it’s your own fault!
