3rd time here and the burger never disappoints… big phat juicy burger with great tasting beef, REAL green chile with good heat to it… bun is regular sesame seed but still good… fries are ok and they go good with the burger… had a chile cheese dog also and it was really good. only around $ 7 for a burger meal makes it all that more attractive. .had to wait a while on the burger but its woth the wait… highly reccomended

The average American consumes over 150 burgers a year. Sort of a scary number, when you factor in the fact that there are many who consume 0 burgers per year. Just wanted to put that out there. I eat nowhere close to that annual number, and tend to tally 2 – 3 per year. Consequently, I tend to be very selective when it comes to my hamburger consumption. The one place I always turn to when that semi-annual hamburger craving hits is the Route 66 pit stop. The short drive west is wonderful– not too long, but just long enough to leave behind the sights and sounds of The City. And the name– Home of the Laguna Burger. Iconic. The ambiance is 100% kitschy, quirky, and wonderfully New Mexican. You step inside the gas station, and find the usual convenience store, plus a booth with a few tables fronting the open kitchen. The delicious aromas of grilling beef teases and awakens your taste buds as you place your order, and find a seat. You will find yourself surrounded by various Route 66 memorabilia, and a motley assortment of bikers, truckers, Natives, Anglos, and a bearded Indian dude, when I am there. A true melting pot. A combination plate with a green chile cheeseburger, fries and a drink will only set you back about 7 bucks, by the way. And 7 dollars is an unfairly, ridiculously cheap price for a taste of hamburger heaven. The burger itself is fresh-not-frozen, half pound piece of perfectly grilled meat, adorned with just the right amount of local green chile, ketchup, mustard, onions, and tomatoes, sandwiched between buns that add flavor and texture, without dominating the experience. Now normally, at this point in my review, I would begin to think about the perfect way to close out my narrative Perhaps a clever ending observation, or a useful tip, you know– something memorable. But in this case, it is not going to happen, because just typing this review is stirring up memories of my last visit there, and I think it is time to go eat burger #4 for the year. NOW! I foresee that average burger number rising…

The Laguna Burger is very good; as good as any, better than most. It took a while to make, but they’re doing it to order and from scratch. You could see the cook forming the one pound balls of raw ground beef. Very tasty. Atmosphere: It’s a touristy gas station-diner. There’s plenty to look at while you wait for your meal. The fries may be cut from fresh potatoes, but they were the low point of the meal. They taste fine, but they don’t know how to ‘properly’ make French Fries. They were completely limp/soggy. My wife loved em… I like crispy French Fries. They were $ 3 and the burger was only $ 5. The burger is a deal, the fries are not. You may spend $ 5 on gas to drive out and back, if you live in Albuquerque, but the burger is worth it the next time you’re in the mood for a Green Chile Cheese Burger.

Quite possibly the best burger in the Albuquerque area. It takes a while sometimes, as the staff always seems to be short-handed and the demand always high. I think next time I’ll skip the fries and get two burgers…

Made the drive from Albuquerque(about 15 miles) to try out the Green Chile Cheeseburger(Laguna) and it did not disappoint. Big patty made with fresh meat, hand shaped and delicious. Combo meal with fries and drink was a deal at $ 6.99. Fries are freshly made but were not crispy sort of floppy actually. Would have given 5 stars if fries were crispier. But the burger… mmmmmmmmmmmm!

In my opinion, this is one of the best green chile cheese burgers in the Albuquerque area. The burgers patties are hand made and the fries are hand cut. They are both so good! The one thing you need to keep in mind, is that you will wait for this tasty food. It’s best to call it in when you are on the way there.

We always stop here for laguna burgers when we drive through here. We call ahead because they can take awhile because everything is made fresh to order. The fries are delicious and the burgers are almost large enough to share if you aren’t too hungry. Perfect pit stop.

If you are looking for a diamond in the rough green chile cheese burger place look no further. It is located in the pit stop gas station near the Route 66 casino. I’m not sure if it’s how the burger is prepared or the ingredients, but the burgers I have had are super juicy and tasty. It’s like a hamburger explosion in my mouth with every bite. Their fries are made from fresh cut potatoes, yum! They have recently expanded and have more seating to accommodate their hungry customers. I can’t wait until the next time I get a hamburger craving, so I can go back for another fantastic burger!

The Laguna Burger is very friendly and up beat. Prices are great. Extremely clean and inviting. Cooked to order 100 percent ground beef. Fries are fresh never frozen. Food is amazing. Make this a stop on your journey. Onion rings are some of the best I’ve ever had. Burgers are amazing. Full of flavor. Definite 5 star stop. The other part of this stop is wonderful. Clean and large selection.

If you don’t mind a filthy bathroom, less than friendly counter service and a cook who stands at the counter and eats his dinner this is the place for you. The service was slow, surly and I ended up with a burger that was cooked way, way past the point of done. Unilocal’s location info is wrong, FYI. Trust me, it’s not worth trying to figure out where this place is.

I wanted to give it a 5 star review, feel it earned a 4, but gave it a 4 for recognizing the potential. Asked for a cheeseburger, nothing else on it and hubby ordered no lettuce or mustard. Took about 20 minutes for our order. When we hot it, burgers were wrong, fries cold, unsalted and shriveled. Burger cooked well and butter toasted bun was a treat. Had fries been salted and given to us immediately out of fryer, it would have made up for our burger toppings being wrong. I can imagine that if the place had fewer customers out order would have turned out better, but that’s not a great excuse. Wished for more. Left full, yet slightly disappointed.

ummm, wow this place is amazing. Who has heard of fresh food in a gas station?.. at a reasonable price?.. with clean bathrooms? The Laguna burger blew my mind after eating gas station food for a few days. They do not freeze any of the food so it is super fresh. Everything on the menu was under $ 5 too — cheaper than a lot of fast food chains. To top it off they had a nice patio to enjoy the outdoors in case you are sick of being stuck inside a vehicle. It is definitely worth to stop here instead of anywhere else for food and gas.

We drive to Phoenix a lot, but I like to travel early in the morning, so a Laguna Burger at 5 am for breakfast does not sound like a solid plan. This trip, however, we left late in the morning, and passed a Laguna Burger sign at 11:30 am, as our hearts said«press on,» but our stomachs said, «what about me?» Fate told us it was time to see what it’s all about. Laguna Burger is probably one of the best-kept secrets I have seen. Sure, it is just a convenience store, but wait, there’s a big grill, sizzling away. Admittedly, it’s odd to order at the grill, and then watch them shoot your ticket to the c-store cashier on a cable. But, I liked the unique appeal of paying for my burger, and picking some lottery tickets to boot. I watched the c-store cashier deal with some dude dumb as rock, trying to remember which pump he was paying for gas on. No impatience, no unfriendliness — these are good people. AND, these are good burgers. The burgers are huge for $ 4! But, truth be told, spend the extra $ 2 and get it with some FRESH cut fries and a drink. The kiddo had the chili cheese fries and they were awesome as well. Ok, to be fair, it’s no Owl Bar or Buckhorn, but that’s I-25. When you ride the Mother Road, Laguna Burger is the best you can get!

It’s sad for people to be in New Mexico and not eat at least one thing with green chiles, but when someone is just passing through for the day, what can they do? Most of the offerings along I-40 that are easy-on and easy-off are pretty blah, or else involve a lot of sitting and waiting, but not this place. The Laguna is one of the best burgers I’ve had. It has more in common with a burger you would make at home with all your favorite ingredients than it does something you’d get at a fast food place… although it should be noted that even though the 66 Pit Stop is not really fast food, the service is still surprisngly fast considering they make everything fresh to order and are often very busy. Combo meal was only around $ 6-$ 7, and is huge. You order at the counter and then pay the store clerk. Your ticket flies across a wire from the counter to the register. The staff are really nice. The fries are so good that it’s a real contest to decide which to eat first, the burger or the fries. I am sad that it will probably be a while before I pass by here again, because I will be thinking about this place for a long time. Although it may not seem like it from the address, 66 Pit Stop is a very easy on and off from I-40, it’s actually a lot easier than most of the truck stops and other places along the highway. You just have to stop here…

One of the few places that should get more stars than I can give. There is nothing about the food and service here that is not simply amazing. The burger at $ 3.89 and a half pound covered in grilled chiles will make you cry. The girls are back there hand slicing spuds for fries that are just as good, and at $ 1.99, how can you beat it? If you are driving by here and don’t stop, there is absolutely no hope for you, go to McDucks. If you are in Albuquerque as we were, drive here, it is worth the short trip. Lets not forget the staff here, they are super friendly and welcoming. Exit #140 on Interstate 40.

This is a perfect example that you should never judge a book by it’s cover. Who would have thought you could get a GIGANTIC, DELICIOUS burger inside a quicky mart? Do yourself a favor, and get the Laguna Burger. It comes with a ridiculous amount of beef(that is never frozen, btw), green chile, onions, lettuce, tomato, cheese and pickles. It’s huge, messy, delicious and CHEAP! My friend and I both got meals and the total came to just over $ 11. The fries(also never frozen) were just ok. I’ll definitely have to try the onion rings next time.

Route 66 Casino’s West Bound Little Sister. Home of the Laguna Burger — Is it the beef or is it the love? Albuquerque’s Central Avenue is Old Route 66. 66 Pit Stop has a Central Avenue address. If you’re an introvert like me, or just want to get down the road without fighting Albuquerque crowds for fuel and food consider 66 Pit Stop. Stopping on westbound side of the highway you have less risk of losing your shorts at the eastbound Route 66 Casino and Travel Center. Pit Stop is a great name for this place. Quick off, quick on. The basics for road trippers and road warriors. It doesn’t get much better than that for me. Not only are the gasoline lines short, restrooms clean, and Route 66 swag abounds, you can watch the cashier slide your Laguna Burger order 15 feet along a wire from the register to the kitchen. That is worth a stop just to watch. Can she slide it all the way? Will they have to take another slide at it to get the order to the fry cook? Will the burger get sent back on the wire? I had breakfast one cool Fall morning here. It was just past 6AM, some staff were still shedding yawns, putting on 66 Pit Stop aprons, shirts and tees. The just-made breakfast burritos, wrapped in foil and set in the breakfast burrito case. Or is it casa? I had a fried egg sandwich, with sausage. Please hold the cheese. Fresh green Hatch chile was added instead. It was a New Mexico breakfast fit for a pit stopper with 10 hours of travel and work ahead. Two eggs firm, not quite scrambled, a liberal dose of that hot green chile married up with a sausage patty large stretching beyond the edge of the whole wheat bread slices. Laguna Pueblo home-style breakfast. After my stomach-warming adovada the night before at Casa Ruiz, I made sure to buffer the Hatch chiles with some milk from the dairy case. I am always amazed by the quantity and variety of 1950’s/60’s auto culture worship items in stock. From pedaling kiddie cars to Route 66 ’57 Chevy refrigerator magnets, the place has a Red Sea of items waiting to part a nostalgic, fun-loving Moses from his(or her) cash. 66 Pit Stop is on the Laguna Pueblo so you also have a choice of Native American items to choose from. Be sure to check labels for the genuine item. India and Africa make some beautiful Apache baskets, people are sending all manner of items to be knocked-off in China. You’ll also find real Laguna and other Pueblo pottery here. The Rio Puerco bridge, immediately east is a New Mexico Division of Highways/Engineering/Old Route 66 notable item. It’s got a quasi-parking area you can pull off into to eat your Laguna Burger, fries and shake under the brilliant New Mexico sky.
