I was excited when I heard that we had a new pet supply and garden store opening in town. I clipped a coupon from the weekly, free advertisement paper and went to have a look. The first thing that I noticed was the big, electronic, LED signage. Not something that I usually think of when I think of garden or pet supplies. I thought that it was a little strange that they used their new, flashy billboard to express their love of Jesus instead of selling pet supplies or gardening goods. As soon as we set foot on the property we were immediately aware of the lurking employee in our vicinity. I would have used the word«salesman» or «customer service», but he never greeted us or offered us assistance. He just followed us around in a creepy way as if he was sure we were going to shoplift potted perennial plants. The second thing that really hit me about this supposed garden center was the dead and dying plants all over. You would think that the«sales staff» in a newly opened business, with very few customers would have the time to remove the dead plants from the sales floor. All in all, I was left with a very poor impression of this new business.
