History

Established in 1922.

In 1922, Farmer’s Hardware in Albemarle, North Carolina selling general hardware items in our former uptown location at the 138 2^nd Street. In 1924, a group of investors bought the business and renamed it Stanly Hardware. After 10 years of business, Stanly Hardware bought into the Ace franchise and has remained that way for over 90 years. The leading hardware of the times, Stanly Hardware sold everything from sporting goods to hardware and building supplies. The business has moved several times, finally settling the building supply warehouse at 401 W. South Street. In 1993, the entire store moved to the South Street location and consolidated into a supply warehouse and hardware. A branch was opened in Richfield, North Carolina in June of 2000 and closed in April of 2013.
