History
Established in 1997.
The seed was planted when founder, Pritchard Dennis, and his wife, Lynda took a trip to Spain in the 1970’s and discovered their passion and deep appreciation for wine. Upon their return, Pritchard began to research. The idea cultivated and matured until finally in the late 1980’s he decided to take the plunge into making his first batch as a hobby winemaker. Success! He had officially been bitten by the ever-contagious and notoriously addictive wine-making bug; and from there it spread to his son, Sandon. This father-son hobby quickly turned professional and exploded into full time jobs as friends and family flocked to get this «mighty good wine». From there, the rest is history!
Meet the Business Owner
Sandon D.
Business Owner
Sandon and his father, Pritchard, are the ones who brought Dennis Vineyards to life back in 1997. Sandon graduated from UNC Charlotte with a Business degree in 1983 and has been running with it ever since. Like his father, he’s always had a very strong entrepreneurial background and their love of wine making quickly cultivated and matured this once small hobby to a professional business almost over night. Specializing in North Carolina’s native grape, the muscadine, they both knew they wanted to highlight this amazing grape in ways no one else had done before. Sandon was the first to produce and sell muscadines ranging in sweetness levels from very dry all the way up to the traditional dessert wine. Although Sandon is now the sole winemaker, his father, Pritchard, can still be seen on a daily basis at Dennis Vineyards, joking about the past, asking how our day has been and anxiously awaiting a glowing future.
