Americas Best Value Inn & Suites

Just finished a week staying there. This place is the cheapest by far of anything in town. 49 per night. If it cost any more it would be one star but with the price, it’s ok I guess. The place is directly in front of the projects just through the woods. It’s obviously a run down hotel built by some chain back in the day. It seems to have gotten a coat of paint and a new sign. Doesn’t look like much money goes into maintenance. Internet is really sketchy, think AOL dialup performance. It’s really hard to talk to the Indian family who works there. They are very nice and they try but it’s just difficult. It was fairly empty with only construction work crews staying there. My room was a suite with a kitchen which was nice but I didn’t want to spend any extra time there so I worked early till late and ate out and basically just slept with a locked door and a gun. In there defense it was dead quiet and there were no issues but I fully expected my car to be broken into each morning. Also their nightly rate is pretty close to what a KOA charges so it compares very favorably but I think I will spring for a more traditional hotel next time.

Would be 0 stars (but the app requires one) for a reason. We rent a room for a night out. Four of us in the room watching a game (not getting loud), and the manager barges in (doesn’t knock, just opens the door) and kicks us out. Said we had too many people in the room (4 again), and that we had two minutes to leave before they called the cops. Interesting because that might be reasonable if there were drugs or an orgy or a party or whatever. But again, four people, watching a football game, calmly at that.
In talking to the management (otherwise nice Indian gentleman), the excuse is that there were a lot of «black people» coming to the hotel. What that had to do with us I don’t know.
Anyway, really weird experience, and no refund. Amazing.
