Although we have been here many times since 2008, we haven’t been here for at least six months. So what do Mt and Ms Rinky do? Wait until we hit a cold snap. Ahhhhh a true ice cream addict knows no seasons. TodayI had a mini chocolate hot fudge sundae and it was gooooooooood! Absence makes the heart grow fonder? Vegan Mr Rinky had his usual sorbet shake… yummy! Solano Yogurt and Ice Cream is an old fashioned ice cream place — no exotic favors like grape cat hairballs, wasabi tangerine, etc… ick. Just an assortment of 2 dozen flavors which you can et in a cone or cup with or without sprinkles, nuts, candy… or shakes, malts, sundaes, Please support them in this difficult economy with the overabundance of fancy designer ice cream flavors. Give me a C-H-OC-O-L-A-T-E!

This place is awesome there are many toppings such as fruit, and yummy gummy worms that are my favorite. There are many more and their yogurt is creamy and not too sweet, they usually have non fat yogurt flavors for the people who don’t eat dairy and also sugar-free. Their ice cream is creamy and have many choices to choose from.

Their smoothies are super sweet but in a really disgusting way and I didn’t enjoy my experience with them. Their ice cream is aight but not what I would expect.

This is a nifty little ice cream shop right next to Gordos. The staff is always pleasant, the shop clean and I can’t believe how reasonable their prices are. You get almost twice as much ice cream for half the price as any yuppie frozen yogurt place within five miles. They have plenty of flavors and those comments from yahoos about not having 100 different flavors that they want to see need a good kick in the pants. It a small shop not some national conglomerate where you pay close to $ 5 a cone.

Always delicious and creamy! Their child’s size is huge. Wish they had more flavors of fro-yo but what they do have is great! Lots of old school candy you can buy too :)

While temporarily in Albany this place has been a great happy-spot/pick-me-up where I’ve met friends or tried to cool down my palate after eating too much hot sauce at Gordo’s or Bowl’d. The owner is a hard working and friendly man who is always happy to greet returning regulars. The Banana Nut and Praline flavors are unusual and tasty. I highly recommend this clean and pleasant store on Solano Ave.

My favorite place to get frozen yogurt by the quart. A sweet family-owned place that is very kind and friendly.

She usually has 2 flavors of Wow Cow frozen yogurt(no added sugar and 10 calories per ounce), it’s pretty cheap, and good fresh fruit toppings. And the owner is super sweet and friendly.

Very average, forgettable ice creams(from Crystal). The petite Asian woman who waited on me was very sweet and polite, which enhanced the experience quite a bit. I was disappointed that they don’t sell milk, which would’ve gone well with my ice cream. Instead they sell standard candy bars & junk food, and soft drinks and energy drinks. This place will do in a pinch, but there is much better out there.

I was not impressed by this place at all, in fact I was very disappointed. Maybe it’s because I’m from the motherland of fro yo, LA but either way I’m pretty sure there are better places along Solano. There are only a few bland flavors of yogurt — typically vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and tart(bleh!). To partner the limited flavors are stale dry toppings, no fresh fruit or even cheap baked goods. If you’re going for the ice cream, don’t bother, it tastes old and ice ridden. And don’t even get me started on the not-so-friendly staff. In general, this place is not worth stopping at unless it is out of absolute convenience.

I always have a craving for tart flavored froyo(no toppings) and this place satisfies my craving all the time! They give you such generous portions & staff is super friendly. I usually save a little tummy room after lunch/dinner at the many restaurants on Solano Ave. & get the child size froyo, which is the perfect size for me($ 1.80 last I was there). I don’t believe in paying ~$ 6 – 7 for some froyo like many other places I’ve been to. Definitely worth a stop for a quick & cheap sweet tooth fix. One day I’ll give their ice cream a try :)

I come for the original tart. I don’t need the other sweetie variety gimmicks. Kriginal tart feels almost healthy somehow, and Yum. Amazing price, always surprised when I go.

This place is great, sometimes I just want to get yogurt without paying an arm and a leg for a the toppings I want. Other yogurt places they weigh the yogurt which is expensive. I went to as you wish yogurt on the same street and I ended up paying twice the price as this place. This spot will give you a lot of yogurt at a great price. They don’t weigh your yogurt which means the weight of your ice cream doesn’t determine how much you will out. This place is better then the other ice cream shops on solano ave. Why you ask? Because the customer service is better,(owners are very sweet, they make you feel like a valued customer) ice cream/yogurt is cheaper, and they have a bigger variety of toppings. Need a say more… Go visit and see for yourself how great this place it, you’ll be back on page thanking me. Cheers!

Anybody who has grown up in this 1 square mile town, dear ol’ Albany, will most likely have fond memories of this place: middle schoolers come after school to get their affordable($ 1.50-ish for a ‘child’ size cup that is actually ridiculously huge) ice cream/frozen yogurt, high schoolers come during their brief lunch break to add some sweetness to their day before going back for their last dreaded classes, cute couples on a Solano stroll date, brief family outings involving cone lickings and sweet messy hands… you get the point. This store, with their abundance of flavors, gigizmo scoops of ice cream/frozen yogurt, and selections of candy and drinks, has given me the fondest memories of my childhood. I still like to come here to satisfy the inner fatty child in me — for this place to ever close down, it would literally be blasphemy.
