History

Established in 1984.

I started as a hot dog vender at this same spot. In 1986 I opened ‘Michele’s Deli’ on Columbia St, Albany. In 1987 I built ‘Michele’s Charcoal Pit’ and have been here ever since. I sold ‘Michele’s Deli’ in 2001.

I graduated from Guilderland High School and Cortland State University. After graduating, I was employed as a retail manager. Always wanting to own my own business, I had to come up with a plan. So, I borrowed a friends pick-​up truck, drove to Philadelphia, and bought a hot dog cart. Then I bought a second hot dog cart… then a third… then a truck. With the support of my family, friends and loyal customers, ‘Michele’s Charcoal Pit’ rolls to capitol park to serve the crowds daily.
